Flying: Lesson 2 (All years) Empty

Scarlett couldn't help but feel slightly nervous about her class. She knew that she knew what she was talking about- she put a lot of time into remaining fit, and she absolutely loved flying and quidditch, but she wasn't entirely sure how she might approach teaching. She had wanted to incorporate more fitness into her classes as well as flying skills, so she had made sure to send notice for the students to wear comfortable clothes that would allow movement.

She walked to the quidditch pitch, where she supposed would be the best place to learn, resolving along the way that the only way to learn would involve the kids actually doing it. It would be in a methodical way, of course.
Explain- the lesson, the moves, body positioning.
Example- or demonstration, where she herself, or perhaps a student with apt abilities could perform the movement.
And finally, involvement- where the kids could give it a try, and she could help out when possible.

Lux made her way to the quidditch pitch, broom clutched proudly in one hand. Having the minister of magic as a father really had its perks. For one, there was never a lack of money and if she was nice, there was a chance she would get what she asked for. Of course, she had to comply to whatever they required of her in return - chores, good grades, whatever. It was a small price to pay and totally worth having to be nice. The broom in her hand took one week of chores and passing three tests.

Seeing that she was the first one here, Lux sent a rare smile to the Professor. She was too happy about her new broom to be a bully. As she waited for other students to arrive, she hoped that this class wouldn't be too easy. She wanted a chance to show off on her broom, and basics just wouldn't cut it.

With the announcement of a new Flying Professor being brought in, Christopher was excited. He was already a very good flyer, he'd been flying since he could walk thanks to his parents being open to him learning from a young age. Heading down to the pitch in his sports gear, Christopher noted he was not the first down to the pitch. Instead the Head Girl had beaten him, not that he knew her personally.

Her broom, however, caught Christopher's eye, and he approved. "Nice broom, Bailey." Christopher acknowledged, motioning to his own tucked over his shoulder. "Getting the new Firebolt on graduation. But this model isn't bad." He added, though he wasn't trying to spark up a conversation, just throw out the fact he had a Firebolt, and she wasn't anything special because she had a brand spanking new one.

"Morning, professor?" Christopher greeted the witch at the front, who was quite stunning in herself. Whether she wished to be called professor, he wasn't sure. He doubted you could be too serious with the title when you were only teaching kids to fly. But, Christopher was open to the possibility of being wrong in this case.

When Humphrey made it to the Quidditch Pitch for his flying lesson he was more than a little surprised to see a pretty blonde lady who looked a little nervous standing next to two of his classmates. He remembered Lux all too well, having bumped into her a Quidditch shop previously and in the forbidden forest before here at school. He heard the other boy's comment about a new broom and whistled appreciatively. "You're going to be a terror on that, not that you needed any more help." he commented to Lux.

For some reason the other guy was wearing shorts, but Humphrey was dressed more warmly with sweatpants, a t-shirt, and a jacket over the top of that. It was after all rather chilly, and he could still move about well enough. Turning to the professor he gave her a cheery wave. "Hello, professor!" he said with a smile, eager to see what she'd be teaching them. He was decent on a broom, but he was all too aware that these two were some of the most talented flyers in the school. Even though they were all here to learn, he couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious about his skills.

Scar had honestly thought there'd be more of a turnout, though perhaps there weren't many sporty kids. She was happy that at least a few students turned up, and that she wasn't standing alone for the entire hour.

"Morning," she addressed the students as they arrived, with a smile "I'm Scarlett, there's no need for formalities like professor," she said "Right, let's get straight into it. It won't just be flying, but sport and fitness too. And a way to practice and build up skills in flying and quidditch," she decided to explain a little bit about her class. She had remembered a lack in physical education while she was at school, and upon taking the job, she decided to change that. It was, after all, good to set up habits in adolescence.

"Let's start with two laps of the oval, and then I'll give you some flying drills," she instructed.

Humphrey smiled when she mentioned physical fitness and sports as well, because frankly he'd kind of missed that having gone to muggle school before Hogwarts. One sport was all well and good, but Quidditch was not the be all, end all for him like it was for some kids. It was fun, though, which was why he thought he might try out for the team soon. Walking over before he took off, he gave her a nervous smile before asking a question. "Umm, miss? Do you have a last name I can refer to you by if you don't like the teacher terms? I'm sorry, it just feels a bit weird for me saying a first name like that in class." he told her, hoping she wouldn't be too upset with him not wanting to call her Scarlett like she'd asked him to.

Once he'd gotten his answer, Humphrey took into the air, well behind the other kids, but doing his laps smoothly and efficiently. He wasn't the fastest or the showiest flyer, but he didn't waste energy while he was flying like a lot of kids did. The feel of the breeze blowing and making his already slightly unkempt hair even messier made him laugh a little, and before he'd completed his second lap he had a huge smile on his face.

Scarlett listened to the boy's inquiry, and politely replied "Waters is my surname if you'd like to use it." she replied. Honestly, she was fine with her first name being used. It felt odd otherwise. But she supposed as she taught more, she'd get used to it. Although, the aurors did tend to refer to her by her last name, she would find it weird coming from students.

And then, the boy that had asked the question was off in the air, doing his laps. Though unfortunately, it seemed that Scar had waited too long for other students to show up, and she had to finish the class before the others gave it a go.
