Treasure Hunt - Severine Charlot Empty
PostSubject: Treasure Hunt - Severine Charlot   Treasure Hunt - Severine Charlot EmptyMon Apr 17, 2017 7:10 pm

The Great Hall begins to empty as the students trickle out from breakfast. Eventually, the Hall is bare of any students except for you, and as you stand from your seat to leave your attention is pulled away from the treasure hunt by something unusual out of the corner of your eye. At the front, where the Professors usually sit, is a pedestal. It’s not that tall, perhaps only half your height, and is pure white. You can see intricate designs of leaves carved around it.

On top of the pedestal is a chest. You take a few steps closer to investigate. It’s not too large but you know that with magic, it could hold far more than meets the eye. It is a bit shabby and old looking, as if it's gone unopened for many years, a layer of dust and what seems to be cobwebs covering it. There are hints of water damage; the lock is tight and made of a strong metal that has some traces of rust on it, and there is moss growing on the side of the chest.

What do you do?

a) Approach and investigate the chest
b) Open the chest with Alohomora
c) Ignore the chest and leave the Great Hall

Severine finished the remnants of her breakfast and began to clean up after herself a bit. The Great Hall had already emptied plenty at this point and she was one of the last ones in the spacious area. Before long, she was the only one there. It was definitely weird, that had never happened before and it creeped her out just a bit. The eerie silence caused her to stand to her feet and began to walk towards the door before something caught her eye. Severine turned ever so slightly to where her professors ate and saw something new, or at least she thought it was new.

It was a pedestal of sort, shorter than her and white. From where she stood, she could make out carvings on the pedestal and atop that, was a chest. The girl took a few steps closer in order to see it better and stopped. It was definitely older than her or at least that was what the dust and cobwebs told her. She could see moss all over the chest and what seemed to be hints of water damage. There was rust as well as a metal lock on the chest. Severine knew that likely, that was either meant to keep something in or to keep someone out and with this being Hogwarts - she went with the former.

After Severine had a small debate with herself, she put away her wand and turned to leave the Great Hall. She was sure that whatever it was, would be announced at dinner or something.

Ignore the chest and leave the Great Hall

2.
You decide that it is best to ignore it and leave the Great Hall. Once outside, you start to walk around, looking for the clue that starts you on your treasure hunt. Time slips by as you wander the hallways, searching everywhere you can think of -- in empty classrooms, behind statues, on paintings, and even in bathrooms! Eventually, after some time, you find nothing and start to get discouraged.

As you start towards the dungeons, an owl swoops down towards you, dropping a note on the floor. Is this the first clue? You quickly pick it up and open the note.

“Try the Great Hall”, it reads. Beneath that is a crude and simple drawing of what appears to be a box. It’s then that you remember the chest you ignored. Perhaps it hadn’t been such a good idea to leave it, after all. You make your way back to the Great Hall and find, to your relief, that the pedestal and chest are still there, unopened. You walk over to it.

What do you do?

a) Approach and investigate the chest
b) Open the chest with Alohomora
