- Exploring the outdoors, hiking, walking the beaches, finding secluded quiet places.
- People watching. Jasmine likes to judge others, silently comparing them to herself
- Socializing. Jasmine is a social butterfly. The more the merrier, even if she is secretly jealous of most of her friends.
- Torrential downpours. Sitting at an open window, smelling the sweet sent of water on dry pavement is the most refreshing sensation in Jasmine's life.

- Swimming. While she enjoys visiting the beaches or lakes, she will never be seen in the water. Drowning is a real fear and there is no better gateway to drowning than swimming.
- Nerds. Yes, nerds. Those bookworm types who can't join into a simple conversation without making everyone feel awkward. She simply doesn't like to feel awkward.
- Waking up early for class. Hence the tardy marks in junior high last year. (14 of them to be exact).

- Quick to anger - one small misspoken word is enough to send Jasmine on edge. While she might not be the fighting type, the fiery red hair must fuel the anger that bubbles inside.

Jasmine grew up in a small cottage home on the outskirts of Coleraine in North Ireland. She is an only child born into an all muggle family. She attended primary school in her home town. She was always the "popular" girl with lots of friends. Living in the same town your whole life means you practically know everyone and everyone wants to be friends with Jasmine. Not only is Jasmine the "popular" girl, she also has a reputation for being a bit stuck up, not that that bothered her one bit.
Last week, a letter came and it was addressed to
her. She had never received her own letter before! Even the birthday cards from grandmom were addressed to her parents, at least on the envelope. But this, this envelope read "Miss Jasmine Rice" in gorgeous cursive font. Jasmine stared, open mouthed while her mother attempted to pull the envelope from her hands. "But it's for me!" Jasmine protested, yanking the envelope back. After reading the letter 43 times over, it all started to make sense. The strange occurances that were happening recently like the time her father's car seemed to stop functioning at the EXACT moment she saw Johanna (Jasmine's best friend) walking down the street as they passed. Her parents were skeptical of the authenticity of the letter but agreed that the possibility seemed ... well, possible. Next thing she knew, she was on a train to London.

Gary and Carla were your typical high school sweethearts. They had their share of bumpy break ups and make ups but ever since Jasmine came in the picture, they were the perfect union of two people. Jasmine realized this was an abnormal thing in today's world, parents who were still together after 15+ years but often took it for granted. In fact, she almost (almost) wished for the drama of divorced parents just to spice up her life story a bit. Not that she didn't love her parents, because she did.
With Gary being a Train Conductor, Carla and Jasmine traveled all the time. Free train rides meant miles and miles of beautiful open country lands. Jasmine has probably seen every train station in Ireland and many more outside the country as well. Sometimes, when she just needed a bit of alone time, Jasmine would ride the train all day with no real destination.
They weren't a wealthy family by any means but they weren't poor off either. The Rice's lived comfortably inside their means, though Jasmine secretly wished they were wealthy.
