 Evelina Morris

PostSubject: Evelina Morris   Thu Jul 27, 2017 8:21 am

Full Name: Evelina Olive Morris
Age: 25
Date of birth: 12 March, 1997
Birthplace: London
Current home: A flat in muggle London
Blood Status: Muggleborn
Sexual Alignment: Heterosexual
Wand type: Fir, phoenix feather, 9 inches.

Hair colour and style: Auburn, but more reddish than brown. It's naturally wavy towards the bottom. She tends to leave it long -- reaching her mid back -- unless working, in which case it’s either a plait or a bun.

Eye colour: A light shade of green, flecked with hazel, depending on the light.

Height: 5 foot 4, if she could stand

Body type: Slim, but fit; she does upper body exercises.

Dress sense: It varies, depending on what work she's doing. If she's being herself, though, she wears dresses with bicycle shorts underneath.

Birthmarks: None.
Tattoos: None.
Scars: Plenty.
Piercings: Earrings.

Likes: (3 minimum)
  - Making up stories; getting away with lies.

  - Stealing.

  - Getting away with things

  - Disguises; clothes

  - Make-up

  - Being underestimated; it helps her get away with things

Dislikes: (3 minimum)
  - Not being in control, mostly because she’s been in a position where she couldn’t do anything for herself and she never wants to be that vulnerable again. She doesn’t mind Licia and Isaac, because she trusts them, but she doesn’t like having to work under other people.

  - Tedious and long meetings.

  - Being honest.

  - Her past

  - Edward Byrne, for taking her life

Strengths: (3 minimum)
  - Evelina is very good at adapting to situations and changing plans to suit whatever crops up. In fact, while she does often make plans, she’s more of the ‘wing-it’ kind of person, although she insists that coming up with at least three exit plans before entering your target location is a must for every good spy.

  - Disguises; she has a talent for taking someone and turning them into something else look-wise.

  - Talking; Evelina is a naturally fast talker, able to change topics and guide one away from certain topics without you realising she’s doing so. She’s also able to make you think she’s giving you information or sharing secrets when she’s actually not telling you anything at all.

  - Acting; you could look at her and not realise she’s breaking into a million pieces on the inside, or see only breaking and not realise the self-satisfied smirk she has for fooling someone.

Weaknesses: (3 minimum)
  - Clothes; as previously mentioned, she adores dressing up, and as such she’ll take any opportunity to get the latest fashion.

 - Her past; she doesn't ever talk about it, and woe to the one who asks! It is still somewhat of a sore spot in her life, after all.

  - The wheelchair; she’s bound to it.

  - Lying; she’s a compulsive liar.

   - Love; for a long time she didn’t believe herself to be worthy of it, until her boyfriend came along and changed it.

Positive traits: (3 minimum)
  - Self-assured; she knows who she is, what she’s good at, and isn’t easily put down by what others say. She also never boasts, since she knows where her strengths lie; she sees no point in bragging if you know you’re good at something. Bragging, she claims, is for those who need to convince others they’re good at something they’re not.

  - Trustworthy; this may be ironic for someone like her, but if Evelina gives someone her word, she means it. That is the one thing she doesn’t ever joke or lie about. (There is, after all, honour among thieves.) If she doesn’t explicitly say “I give you my word,” though, the chances are very high that she isn’t being entirely truthful. Those five words are therefore rarely heard coming from her.

  - Loyal to those she trusts, and those she likes. Both are rare.

Negative traits: (3 minimum)
  - Eve has a tendency to be a bit too controlling, needing everything around her to be just so. This stems from her past; she doesn't want to ever not be in control again.

  - She doesn’t know how to be honest with people, and hides behind a mask of either professionalism or whatever else she chooses to display. Not many (if any) have seen the true Evelina.

  - Compulsive liar; she hardly tells the truth and nothing but the truth. If she doesn’t need to be a hundred percent truthful, she isn’t. (“And how often does one ever really need to be truthful?” she asks.)

  - Revengeful

What She Believes In:
  - An eye for an eye

  - Fire to fight fire; war to end war

  - Felicia and Isaac

  - Herself

Evelina was born into an unhappy household. Her parents divorced when she was but a child, with her mother moving away to a distant country; Eve, therefore, was raised by her father. The last time she saw her mother was when the woman left, and since she was only three at the time, Evelina wouldn’t be able to recognise the woman if her life depended on it. It was discovered when she was around five that she had a natural talent for acting and gymnastics.

Her father took her to classes, where she thrived. It was only a couple years later that she realised the reason he encouraged her in this area, and for a few years, she was made to help her father con people, and since young this was the world she was exposed to. He never did it to extremes, only to survive, and despite this treated Evelina well; the two were never close, but he didn’t mistreat her.

It was discovered she had magical abilities at the age of 9. Entering Hogwarts, she was sorted into Hufflepuff, where she found and made fast friends, and discovered (for the first time) that her father was not doing the right thing. She decided to take a stance, and a year later, just as her second year was starting, she reported him to the cops. He was arrested, and Evelina went to stay with her best friend’s family, whom she had visited twice during the school year. She came to know them as ‘mum’ and ‘dad’, and her best friend became her sister. As soon as the adoption was completed, she adopted their last name.

She made more friends and thrived in her new home, the ability to be a child and just live freeing. Her years with her dad did nothing to dampen the child inside her or the hope and love she was born with, and she loved school. Her mind was set on becoming an actress, either in the magical world or non, and holidays were spent in either classes or putting on stage shows with friends. That is not to say things were perfect; she still got into arguments with friends, had crushes turn her down, and had friends leave. There were the occasional bully, and detention. There were tests failed and tests passed, and things that went wrong and things that went right -- but it was life, and she was on a path to true happiness.

Until her fifth year.

She was walking to class, chatting with a friend, when she realised she left a notebook in her dorm. Turning, she was just returning to get it (on her own; why make two people late for class?) when she came across Leonard, an older year Gryffindor that had taken to bully her lately. He smirked, calling her a few choice words, and she’d merely raised an eyebrow. That got him riled up, but she stood her ground, asking in as innocent a tone as she could manage if he found it amusing to use such words. He glared at her; she smiled. He started to say something else. She let him finish, rolled her eyes, and said, as firmly as she could, “Please do us all a favour and grow up.”

He spluttered, and she kept her gaze on him, expression vacant and innocent. With a few cusses, Leonard turned and stormed away in the opposite direction, apparently unused to being called out on his childish behaviour. Evelina watched him leave, a grin now playing on her lips, and chuckled to herself as she, too, turned and hurried to the stairs.

A movement caught her attention as she was about to take the first step and she turned in time to see something coming towards her; it took a moment for it to register as an axe. Not having time to grab her wand, she let out a tiny scream and ducked, allowing it to merely graze her hair, leaving her unharmed. It was attached to some sort of spring, and for just a moment, she thought she recognised it. Turning sharply, she looked around, wondering who could’ve done something so dangerous, her mind spinning and heart racing. There was a nagging suspicion deep inside her, telling her she knew exactly who was responsible.

The pieces clicked just as the axe, following the momentum set by the first swing, returned, blunt side thankfully facing her, and knocked her straight in the back of the head. She stumbled forward, swayed, and toppled back.

She fell three flights of stairs before anyone knew what was happening. Her last word before she passed out was a name: ‘Eddie’.

When she next woke up, she didn't know what was going on. It took many conversations to figure out that she’d been unconscious for a year, and the details were fuzzy; she only remembered talking to Leonard, and then… nothing.

She'd lost one year, yes, but also so much more than that. She had to learn who had moved on, friends she once knew everything about and who knew everything about her no longer coming by to visit. Those who she once would sit beside and gossip late into the night now doing the same with others. Boyfriends gained, girlfriends lost... She met new people in her friends' lives, learnt things about them that had happened months ago...

And then she discovered she was partially paralysed, her legs deteriorated and her spine crushed to a point where walking was going to be virtually impossible, if not useless. They'd done their best to heal her, of course, trying spells and potions. Her parents took her to a muggle doctor, too, but he'd merely shaken his head with a sad smile and told them it wasn't possible except for a miracle. Spells proved to be that miracle, and a few months after she woke up she took her first step, but that was the first that led her down a long and painful road when she discovered how much it truly hurt.

It took only a week for her to find out the truth, when she’d asked about the one friend she’d expected to see there, the one person she had thought would stick around. He hadn’t been there the first day, nor the second, and by the time five days had come and gone a dreadful flutter had made a permanent home in her stomach. What could have kept him? Surely he hadn’t been hurt, too, in the year she was gone?

But when she mentioned his name, when she asked, the looks they gave her only screamed of two things -- anger, and pity. The boy she could've -- and had almost -- fallen in love with had been expelled for causing the ‘accident’ that put her in the hospital in the first place -- only, it hadn’t been an accident at all, and he hadn’t just caused a coma.

No, he'd taken more than just a year from her; he'd taken her legs, and with her legs gone, what could she do? Her dreams, her goal, had shattered. How could she be an actress if she couldn't use her legs? How could she be a dancer? How could she do anything in the entertainment field? She couldn't; it wasn't possible.

Edward Byrne had not just taken a year, or her legs; he'd taken her life, and for that she'd never forgive him.

She fell into depression that only lasted a few months; with her family around her, she bounced back, attending physical therapy sessions to learn how to use her upper body and navigate a wheelchair properly. A few years later, there was a potion discovered that granted her temporary use, but at a steep cost -- for hours after it wrote off, almost a day, there was nothing but excruciating pain. Evelina hardly took the potion.

After school, she got a part-time desk job, not knowing what else she could do. For a couple years she worked there, hating it and everything around her. And then one day when she was 20, she got an owl from a familiar name -- an apology. She replied the owl, and the correspondence between Leonard and Evelina began. They met up a few months after the first owl, and he offered her a better job with a friend of his. She accepted, and soon began a career in costume design and as a makeup artist for muggle TV shows.

A few years after that, at the age of 23, she was working late one night in her flat when a mysterious owl was delivered, asking her to meet… whoever it was… in a bar. Not having anything to lose, she went, and met Felicia. Many, many hours later, and Evelina was offered a new job, doing more or less what she’d done before but for a much better cause. There was no looking back.

Two years later, Evelina is 25 and working full-time for the Nightshades. Nobody knows what she’s doing; she tells them that she’s working as a costume designer for a private company, a lie which isn’t too far from the truth.

Graham Smith is an alias; Evelina never bothered to find out his true name. He met and married her mother at the age of 18, when Eve was conceived. Three years later, they got divorced. There isn’t much of a love story, and Evelina has never bothered finding out either her mother’s identity or her father’s real one.

On the other hand, her adoptive family has a bitter-sweet love story. Her parents -- for that is what she calls them; it was, after all, what they are -- met in Hogwarts, although they were never close or best friends. It was the death of a mutual friend to a severe case of dragon pox that drew them together in their seventh year. They found comfort in and with each other, and their friendship grew and lasted throughout their uni days.

They didn’t get together until much later, both having dated other people to no avail. They claim it was not a romantic gesture or a sudden realisation, but rather the slow creeping of love between two friends that grew and changed into more. They got engaged and married within six months of going out, and their relationship blossomed.
