Julienne Ambrosi's Potions Test Empty
PostSubject: Julienne Ambrosi's Potions Test   Julienne Ambrosi's Potions Test EmptyThu Jul 20, 2017 5:55 am

Once seated, Julienne patiently waited for the rest of the class to arrive. She'd been one of the last students to enter, besides a small group of girls she somewhat recognised as being from her house. She believed the girl at the front of the group to be someone named Vanessa, was it? She'd heard the name floating around a few times this year. Something about Her boyfriend and a girl named Rhiannon cheating on Vanessa. She wasn't quite sure. Julienne was not one for gossip. She preferred to see the truth for herself.

Once Vanessa and her friends sat down, papers began to fly from the professor's desk. Julienne nodded, scanning the page before lifting her quill. She could feel nerves bubbling through her. She knew the subject, but she also knew that she'd forget all of it as soon as she went to write answers to the questions.

She breathed in once, twice, and she began to read the instructions.

Each potion in front of her was to have its own section of the test. There were questions about every potion based on traits such as sight, smell, and ingredients. Her breathing began to quicken. What if she forgot an ingredient? There were so many. What if the nerves began to shift her appearance? She sometimes went pale when scared.

She breathed again. It worked barely, but it worked.

The first potion was blue. There was no special trait about the blue. It was simply blue. She frowned. Colour was sometimes a giveaway when it came to potions, but blue was blue. It smelled familiar, but unfamiliar at the same time. It did not smell like a physical object or memory. It smelled… pink? Were colours scented? She did not believe so, but somehow this smelt like a colour. The paper before her mentioned that two of the ingredients were dried nettles and snake fangs. She hummed, adding together every clue she’d been given. It was a blue potion consisting of nettles and snake fangs. She remembered a lesson on this potion. Joshua Abbott had skimmed the instructions instead of fully reading them, resulting in a less-than desirable scent filling the room.

Julienne smiled, scratching her quill into the page.

- This potion is the Cure for Boils
- You have to take the caudron off of the fire before adding the porcupine quills.
- Horned slugs and porcupine quills

The second potion was not as simple to identify as the first had been. It was foul smelling and gold, two traits that she’d noticed in more than one potion before. But this potion included doxy eggs as an ingredient. Perhaps this was the girding potion? Or was it something else? No other potion names were coming to mind, so she decided to follow her first instinct. They’d done a lesson on the girding potion, but she could not remember every exact detail when it came to the ingredients used to make it. She breathed deeply, hoping to do her best.

- Girding potion
- Increases endurance
- Dragonfly thoraxes and fairy wings

The third potion was not difficult to identify. Not because she had come into contact with it before, but because there were long passages on the substance in nearly every potions book she’d read. This was her least favourite potion, as it could allow someone to do everything that she’d never wanted to be able to.

- Polyjuice potion
- Can shift their appearance into that of another
- If an animal-based fur or hair is placed into the potion, it will turn the drinker into a half-breed of sorts.
- Lacewing flies, powdered bicorn horn, knotgrass, shredded boomslang skin, and a bit of the person one wants to turn into.
- As this potion can be used to become someone else, it can be punishable if used for illegal or harmful purposes. The Ministry may use it every once in awhile to help them with a case, which keeps them from being able to completely outlaw the substance.

The fourth potion was beautiful. It looked as though someone had crushed the moon and the stars into a fine powder and thrown them into a vile. And the smell was familiar, though she could not place it. It was not a particular smell, as much as it was the aura of a particular person. It smelt like Kylian.

- Amortentia
- Causes a powerful obsession or infatuation in the drinker. It is called a love potion, but this is not really love.
- It smells different to everyone, based on what attracts them.

The fifth potion confused Julienne greatly. It was golden and thick, giving off a medicinal vibe. The instructions stated that it smelt of carrot. She’d never read of a potion with these characteristics before, so she decided to write what made the most sense to her. It smelt of carrot, so perhaps one of the ingredients was carrot or belonged to the carrot family? The only thing she could think of was lovage, which belonged to the Befuddlement Draught. It didn’t make sense to her, but it was all she had.

- The befuddlement Draught
- It causes confusion within the drinker

(OOC: WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT POTION 5 IS NOW)

Grade Sheet

Student Name:
Julienne Ambrosi

House: Hufflepuff

Grade: Acceptable.

House Points: 30

OOC: You correctly answered most of the questions, except, Julienne did not clearly state what Amortentia smells like -- the trick to this question was that James wanted specific answers to the person taking the test. Julienne therefore lost marks for not writing 'specifically' enough. James is being an ass.

Potion Five was James' own creation, used in the Treasure Hunts. It is a potion that allows the drinker to see hidden messages that have been written. It does not have a name, as of yet. You would not have found it on HP Wiki, yes I was being mean!
