| Handler's Note: This is a blog created by Julienne Ambrosi to be used as a platform for her poetry. Julienne's mind is almost always running, leaving her with a million ideas but no oral way to share them (this is due to the fact that she has very very bad social anxiety and she is barely capable of speaking to other people). Because of this, starting a poetry blog seemed like a really beneficial way of putting her emotions out there without having to own them herself.
Her blog is called "Farfalla Papillon," which translates to, "Butterfly (Italian) Butterfly (French)." (Julienne is intrigued by the idea of flight, leading her mind to often wander to the lives of butterflies. She has also been referenced to as a butterfly with a broken wing. So obviously, butterfly butterfly is a very suitable blog title).
She also goes by a pen name, Mariposa (I'll let you guess what this means), which means that any character who reads the blog will not know that it was written by Julienne. Now, I may be open to plots in which this is not the case but for now the blog can be read by anyone but they will not know that it is Julienne who has authored it. Got it? Good!
If I can think of any other useful information regarding Julienne's blog, I will edit it into this post. Otherwise, happy reading!
Sincerely, Haylen |

| -The Right to Flight-
Has a goose ever asked a dove, "Why are we not shown equivalent love?" How can one fly yet the other is stuck and chained to the grass he sleeps on
Has a woman ever asked a man, "Should it matter who's s'posed to or simply who can?" Why do they think that strength is from size and knowledge is from circumstance?
Has a donkey ever been asked by a mule, "How am I the target of such ridicule?" How can we create what we cannot respect and maintain the lives that we cannot protect?
Who decided who lives and who dies? The pandas, the bees, or the butterflies? The greed of this world says "keep it all" and yet it does nothing when it sees us fall
When did the heart become something to miss? Did it fall through the drain with compassion and bliss? Whatever has happened, answer me this:
Do geese have the right to fly?

| [Title in Process]
Caterpillar to Butterfly. An effortless transition: You are wingless. You are hungry. You are captive. You are tired. You are winged. You are freed.
How does it feel to become yourself so suddenly? To feel your identity surface without breaking sweat What is it like for your notion of self-worth to be so natural?
Chameleon to chameleon. Effortless and ingenuine: You are forest. You are river. You are sunshine. You are quicksand. You are infrequent Insufficient Incapable of stability.
It is the uncertainty of never knowing the difference between who you are in this moment And who you will be in five moments from now.
Wondering if brown will turn to burgundy to ginger If blue will all of a sudden become seafoam.
It is knowing the answer to all of these questions but wishing with all of your heart That you didn’t.

| Change in The World
I am not the change that I wish to see in the world Is there a change that I wish to see in the world? How can I wish for a change in the world If I can barely control the changes in myself?
How could a person wish for such an inconsistency? Changing the world that they have known For the entirety of their lifetime? Do they wish to forget every thing that this world has done?
Does this world mean nothing? Will it mean nothing once it has changed? What is change?
What is change? Am I change? Are you change? Are we change?
What is the change that you wish to see in the world? How do you obtain it?
I don't know
I don't believe that I will ever know
But perhaps that will change

| But a simple Moth
I have searched for the light For such an enormity of my life And I am no more than a moth Tethered to the flame that has never come Yearning for the flame that will never come
A moth does not need light to survive They follow the light because it looks nice They follow the light because it looks safe I follow the light because it looks like hope I follow the light because it looks like home
But who am I, but a simple moth Who I am I to know what is to come That this flame of hope This flame of life Has lead me to the land of butterflies
Butterflies whose beauty could outshine mine for lightyears Butterflies who do not exist so they can dry off my tears Butterflies who push aside anything labeled as different Butterflies who throw moths away for fear that we cannot fit in
But what if I, a simple moth Wish to become a butterfly? Will I be accepted then Or am I still not one of them
Perhaps they will take my light away For moths wander in the dark And in the dark I shall stay

| What do you say?
What do you say to the mother who loses her child The moment that her child is born?
What do you say to the father who dismisses his daughter? Acceptance is difficult; it's easier to mourn
What do you tell the daughter who cannot understand That this ability, this curse was not part of their plan
What do you tell the freak who detrimental to society? Abandoned and forgotten because her caretakers refuse to see
The beauty in uncertainty; the elegance in difference Why is there a precedent that we must succumb to circumstance?
If I ever have a daughter I will love her for her flaws I will hold her and protect her and love her just because
There is no rhyme or reason to acceptance or the care You love because you love someone not because they're there.
I will tell the broken girl that she is not alone Because I never wish upon anyone The world that I have known

| Greetings
I see your faces in my dreams Your eyes ignite in subtle screams I don't know who you thought I'd be But you were never expecting me
You shake my hand and say hello As if I am someone you don't know I introduce myself even so And the only word from your lips is no
Your smile glimmers and you greet me My smile shudders and I want you to see That through every meeting 1, 2, 3 It has always been just you in me
But instead you run away Knowing there is no thing I can say
Because I am unfixable My curse is unbreakable
And my curse is your curse Whenever you greet me

| Identity Crisis
An identity crisis is a right of passage Every normal person goes through it That phase in which you change your hairstyle Or you wear a red dress instead of your usual black It is when you wonder if you are becoming someone else It is when you realise that you could turn back if you wanted to
An identity crisis is a bit different than that An identity crisis is when you fear that you are losing yourself When your nose shrinks and you grow three inches in five minutes When the face in the mirror is not yourself And you wonder if you've ever seen yourself in the mirror And you wonder who you are If you've ever known who you are
An identity crisis is when your mother screams at the sight of the stranger who had just awoken from her daughter's bed When your father cannot love the chameleon that you have become When new friends can never become old friends When you are the new kid in school at least once a month
A new chapter in life is when you grow into a new version of yourself
An identity crisis is when you never had a you to grow into in the first place

| The caged bird
Have you ever been posed the question, "How does the caged bird sing?
Have you wondered how a beauty can shine In spite of everything
Does she whistle through the muzzle Or does she lament underneath the chains
Does her passion fuel a fire that boils And accelerates her veins
Will her songs be heard from the metal Or will they drown behind the steel
Will the caged bird stay inside her bars Or will she be revealed?

| Fate
He told me once, that he would never part my way That we were two birds born of the same feather Who, had somehow found our ways backward Back into the pieces of who we'd once been so long ago
He told me that he's known me before he's even known me and there was no response more seemingly appropriate than belief Because I had never gone far enough back in my mind to know any truer But I did believe him. I thought I did. I assumed that if he'd known me, I'd known him as well.
And then one night without a word, I wondered downward to where I knew he'd be And he was not there And I was lost Because I did not know where he was And I did not know him
And I now wonder
If he's ever known me
