Clara was happy to be home for the summer, as much as she enjoyed school. Returning to muggle Britain was like finding a comforting pocket of sanity in an otherwise absurd world. It was hard to believe, only three years ago, she'd known next to nothing about magic and the wizarding world--in fact, she would have confidently denied its existence. And now she spent most of the year at wizard school learning spells--ha!

The University of Bristol was like an old friend to Clara. Since both of her parents worked there, she often tagged along, staying in the library, or finding a nook around campus in which to read or do her homework. Her parents both had summer classes, so today was one such day.

Today was a nice day, sunny, but not too hot, and with a slight breeze, so she'd opted to sit outside. She sat cross-legged on a low stone wall, facing the street, The Complete Works of Shakespeare open in her lap. She was in the middle of Act II of King Lear--she'd decided to take a break from studying and research, and enjoy a little leisure reading over the summer.

After a little while, she looked up, stretching a bit. She glanced at her phone sitting beside her on the wall, checking the time. It was half past twelve, and her dad got off at one. Her mum wouldn't finish until 2:30--she had office hours--but her dad would come and fetch Clara for a late lunch when he finished class. She was a little hungry, but she could wait. She turned back to her book.

Bristol was not one of the most popular cities in England, but it was good enough to get away from the Wizarding world for a while without being in the hustle and bustle of the busier cities in the country. The shopping facilities weren't too shabby, either, which was part of the reason Dimitri had come. Whilst most of his clothes for the wizarding world were tailor made, he didn't like to wear such attire at school.

Instead, Dimitri opted for the expensive brands of the Muggle world, still speaking of the money he had, but being more appealing to his peers. After all, connections were important, and tailor made clothing was not something that made you seem approachable.

Heading down towards the University after his copious shopping trip, his bags suitably packed to contain more than the eye could see from his trip, Dimitri was working on finding his father. There was a business meeting with one of the professors, something Dimitri hadn't paid much attention to, and then his father would take him home.

Business had never been Dimitri's forte, much to his father's dismay, and Dimitri was not showing much inclination to following on the family name, either.

Having been told to wait outside the University, Dimitri stood by the wall and waited, watching people for a few moments before his eyes landed on a familiar face. Frowning slightly upon seeing someone from Hogwarts in Muggle England -- of course this was plausible, but didn't happen often -- Dimitri felt himself being drawn to the witch. Taking in her book, Dimitri smiled.

"Don't you get a little tired of all of Shakespeare's tragedies?" Dimitri asked, though he wasn't much in to Shakespeare himself, he knew the rough outline of the story from a memory of reading it quite some time ago. "What brings you to Bristol?" Dimitri added, trying to subtly ask how the two could have met in the Muggle world without previously arranging to do so.

Of course, Dimitri could be rebuffed from the conversation, it wasn't like he and the witch before him were friends, but what was the harm in trying, eh?

Clara looked up, and it took her a long moment to place the face in front of her out of context. He looked familiar, but she was not expecting to see any of her housemates outside of school, and her mind had to quest a little to draw up a memory of him in the Ravenclaw common room. What was he doing at the university? That certainly wasn't where she'd expect to find anyone from Hogwarts.

She shrugged at his question. "I mix them in with enough other books that it doesn't get boring. I haven't read any Shakespeare in a while, actually. And I prefer to read the tragedies because the language is packed with more subtlety, which can take a little while to sink in, whereas with the comedies, I'd rather watch them on stage because half the comedy is in the actor's interpretation and actions."

"What brings you to Bristol?"

"I live here," she said shortly. She didn't mean to sound so uninviting, but the way she said it sounded almost like there was a silent 'obviously' at the end. "I could ask the same to you though."

The answer to his comment was not quite what Dimitri had been expecting, truth be told, but it was a good answer. One that received a small smile in response to those words because... well, it seemed like the right thing to do. "I think I would have to agree with you, on both those points." The Ravenclaw replied, though he didn't open that topic up any further, Merlin knew he didn't want to get in to a conversation on books in the middle of the street.

The tone of the younger Ravenclaw stopped Dimitri from answering the unasked question. As the witch had said, she could ask, but she had not. "You could, you're right, but you didn't." Dimitri replied instead, a small smile touching the boy's lips in that moment. He wasn't trying to be purposefully difficult, but he was a Ravenclaw, picking up on detail was something most of them could do well.

Falling silent for a moment or two, Dimitri looked up towards the University buildings, wondering if he could spot his father coming back from the meeting he was having. Upon not finding his father, his attention turned back to the younger witch. "So, are you ready for the new school term?" He asked, it was a lame question, he was quite aware of that, but the younger witch wasn't exactly making conversation easy for him to maintain.

Clara rolled her eyes at the boy's smart comment. He probably thought he was clever. She did not appreciate it--conversation was hard enough already without people being intentionally irritating. She didn't really care about his business, but simply the fact that he was withholding the information made her need to know what he was doing here.

And then he was speaking again, making small talk. Oh, he's one of  those people. The kind that doesn't appreciate silence. Wonderful. She suppressed a resigned sigh, and avoided his gaze, looking down at her book as she spoke.

"I have all of my supplies, if that's what you mean. I've done all of my homework. If you're asking whether I'm emotionally prepared to go back to school, then yes, I suppose so, though I wouldn't mind staying here either. I don't see why any of this would matter to you, though."

After a moment, she gave up and turned to face him. "What are you doing here? At the university specifically. I've never seen you here before."

The eye roll from the younger witch brought a smile to Dimitri's lips in that moment. He'd only meant to amuse the witch -- if he'd fully succeeded in doing so, he couldn't be sure. But he'd gotten a reaction out of her, which was something, at least.

"Oh, it doesn't matter to me. Just polite conversation, really." Dimitri replied to the witch, who obviously wasn't enjoying the conversation he was offering to her. For what reason, though, Dimitri wasn't overly sure. Polite conversation wasn't exactly a bad thing, but... well, this girl was obviously not 'everyone'.

"My father has business with one of the professors." Dimitri explained casually. He, obviously, couldn't tell the younger witch what kind of business, and would lie and say he didn't know if asked, but that much had been a lie. "I wouldn't normally have come, but I needed to get some new clothes before term started. So, figured I would make use of my father being in Bristol." He summarised, not that he really had to explain himself to the witch before him.

"Which is why you wouldn't have seen me here before, it's my first trip." Dimitri added, making it quite clear he wasn't in any way familiar with the city. "So, the university can't be your home. Why have you picked here to read?" Dimitri asked, still trying to work the younger witch out. Wasn't exactly the most fun place a kid could find themselves, after all.

Clara listened in silence to the boy's explanation, nodding her understanding. She didn't know too many of the professors at the university, only the ones her parents were friends with, who came over for dinner occasionally. She figured it was possible at least one of the professors had dealings with wizards--she was fairly certain the boy was a pureblood--so the explanation was reasonable. And she didn't pry as to what exactly said 'business' was, since the affairs of others hardly interested her.

She also knew that Bristol had a fairly popular shopping center, so that explanation made sense too. Satisfied with the information, she pushed no further.

"My parents teach here," she explained. "We live nearby, so I come with them sometimes when they both have classes." She checked the time on her phone. 12:47.

"My dad gets off at one. He'll take me out for lunch and then we'll come back for Mum when she finishes at two thirty."

Her phone buzzed, and she looked down to see a text from her dad.

May run a little late today. Come around to the maths building at around 1:10, I'll meet you outside.

Okay, she typed back, then set her phone down. Performing a quick calculation, she decided she'd need to start walking at around 1:03, if she went at a leisurely pace.

The younger witch explained to him that her parents worked at the university, and instantly -- without really meaning to -- he denoted her as a Muggleborn witch. True, she could be a Halfblood, but he doubted the likelihood of getting two magical people to teach in the Muggle world. Not impossible, but quite unlikely.

And, it was somewhat confirmed when the witch pulled out a phone, the Muggle devices that most Purebloods avoided. Most, not all.

From there, apart from the explanations of times her parents got off, the younger witch gave up with conversation, and Dimitri found himself kind of left with nothing more to add. Thinking about trying again, just one more time, to see if he would get anywhere, the boy decided against it, and looked up towards the University. Another moment, and the boy's mind had been made up.

"Well, I won't keep you from Shakespeare any longer." He told the witch, bowing his head slightly in a kind of farewell. "See you around." The boy added, before turning away and heading up the path towards the University buildings. It couldn't be that difficult to find someone who was actually interested in a conversation now, could it?
