Lucy

When Lucy got the letter of Jake opening his house for her she had gratefully taken the offer and had given a short reply and promise that she would be there.

And there she was, three weeks later . On the 21'st of February Lucy had gone to Jake's house, well she was currently walking up the path to it. Her bags she had sent ahead of her, a small parcel on the doorstep with her own name on it. They'd arrived a few days before hand, now it was up to her to arrive.

Figuring that Jake would be out Lucy had picked up the rock that the spare key was underneath. There were several fake rocks in the garden but they key was underneath a real rock, it was quite helpful actually that she knew where it was.

Once she had the key she walked up the steps, tripping as always on the second one. "Godammit!" She swore out loud, a soft smile on her face.

Having found out Lucy would be back in the country within the next couple of weeks, Jake couldn't deny he was excited to see her. They'd formed a friendship over the years in which Lucy had left Hogwarts, and the younger witch was definitely in and amongst Jake's close friends. His kids loved her too, so it was without saying that he was happy to have her back.

Jake had made a mistake in telling the children that Lucy was arriving that day -- lunch had become something of a disaster, for Ivan kept running from the kitchen to the window to check for Lucy. No matter how many times Jake told the five year old that he needed to be patient, and help with the preparation of lunch, Ivan was too interested in pressing his nose to the glass to try and see.

Jake had, just, managed to get both of the children to sit down with the sandwiches that were neatly cut in to four triangles when the door opened. Ivan, who had just picked up his sandwich, dropped the food without care, making it land on the table edge, and down on to the floor, was off of his seat, and running down the hall before Jake could utter a word. Adrienne, ever so much more careful in her mannerisms, at least put her sandwich down before following suit.

Emerging after the children who had made a beeline for Lucy to give her a hug, Jake gave the witch an apologetic smile. "Welcome home, Luce." The Auror greeted, moving towards the witch to give her a hug once she'd freed herself from the children for a moment.

Lucy had just opened the door when she was all but tackled by two little bodies, one being Ivan and the other Adrienne. She laughed a little, picking Ivan up and gave him a hug before following suit with Adrienne. Giving all the usual questions "You been behaving Ivan? And you Adrienne?" She asked before putting them down. Looking at Jake. "Hey Jake."

The hug she got from the older wizard very nearly brought tears to her eyes. Jake had the best hugs there was no one that could match, not even her mother. His hugs just MADE you feel safe. She enjoyed the embrace, sure it was only friendly but it meant a lot to her.
She stood in Jake's arms for a solid five minutes without a word. Just happy to be back near him. She was shorter then him so he towered over her while she got to feel like the safest person in the world. At least for a moment. She didn't need to say anything and neither did he. It was a simple moment shared.

Only by Ivan continuing to tug on her pant sleeve did Lucy break the hug and picked him up. "Merlin you've gotten big!" she said with a soft smile. A new tattoo on her hand as she held him on her hip. A tribal, beautiful and intricate. One of the new additions to her body . Adrienne however she simply held the girls hand and walked them into the kitchen. "Ivan did you drop your sandwich?" she looked at Jake. They had a lot to talk about.

"Aunty Lucy!" Ivan and Adrienne squealed in unison as they collided with the young witch's legs. They were hoisted up for a cuddle, and Jake couldn't help but watch fondly. "We're always good!" Ivan replied for both himself and his younger sister with a grin for the woman who'd asked him if he'd been behaving. And, for the most part, Jake couldn't disagree with that one, either. He'd been gifted with two beautiful children, who were perfect in every single way.

As Lucy moved in to his arms, Jake gave her a warm hug, not wanting to let go because his friend was home. He'd missed her greatly, but now she was back, he didn't want to let go. She'd been so helpful after Veronika had left, with the kids, Jake had been lost without the small things she'd done to lighten his load. But, those words were for another time, away from the kids.

"Not as big as Adrienne!" Ivan said, motioning to his sister proudly.

"Me big too!" Adrienne insisted, not quite getting her sentence right, but doing her best as the two children pulled Lucy back in to the kitchen. Ivan looking at the mess he'd made and hurrying to pick it up and dust off the dirt -- of which there was next to none -- and put it back on his plate.

"Where did you go, Lucy? Daddy said you went to the Ah-Zon!" Ivan asked, taking his seat and munching on his sandwich as he looked to his father for confirmation. Jake had moved off to the kettle, putting water in it, and then flicking it on.

"Amazon, Ivan, Ah-Muh-Zon." Jake told him, gently correcting the boy.

"Where's that?" Ivan asked, eyes still on Lucy as he spoke around his sandwich, eyes big with the prospect of tales of an adventure.

Lucy gave another smile as she looked at the kids, "You certainly are getting bigger Adrienne!" She said, taking a seat at the kitchen table and watched as Ivan cleaned up his mess. She knew the floor was going to very clean so she wasn't worried about a tiny bit of grit on the boys sandwich.

Giving Adrienne a small pat on her arm she looked at Ivan as he spoke before up at Jake before back at the boy. "You're daddy was very clever to figure out where your presents came from." She smiled. "Yes I spent some time in the Amazon it is in South America."

Lucy began to explain roughly where she was, for Ivan and for Jake. "Ivan you know how I do tattooing . The Amazonians do it too but they don't do it the same way that I do. They have very special ways of doing it and very special meanings." She smiled, describing to Ivan and Adrienne the hut she lived in. "No electricity, no showers, it was all in the river." She explained "But the water was the purest water you will ever see." the tribe while basic in one sense had been exceedingly intelligent in how they spread the water and used it. And had the tribe set up.

Turning her hand so the tribal was visible she showed it to Ivan and Adrienne, "This was one of the tattoos that I got from the tribe, I got it when I passed the first tests they gave." She explained, "They wanted me to understand what the tattooing meant to them."

Lucy spent time explaining what the amazon was like in age appropriateness to Ivan and Adrienne. There were some topics that she could only discuss with Jake but that was when the kids weren't there. "Enough about me Ivan tell me about you and tell me about you Adrienne what have you been doing?"

When Lucy had mentioned his working it out -- the presents had been a big enough clue for Jake, and he'd told Ivan and Adrienne what he knew about the Amazon, though it wasn't very much, really. They had enjoyed the small amount Jake had known, though, and Jake had finalised it all with the notion that they would have to ask Lucy all about it when they got back.

Both children listened intently as Lucy explained her story, munching their sandwiches in between the awed faces that shone up at her as they spoke. Jake made himself busy with getting Lucy a cup of tea, and something to eat that fell in to her diet.

The four of them sat discussing the Amazon and Lucy's adventures for some time, before Ivan told Lucy all about his school and how much he was loving the time there. He told her about his friends he'd made, and the things he'd learned with so much excitement it was clear Ivan loved going to school.

Adrienne told Lucy about her toys -- she'd shown a like from an early age -- of Ivan's toys more than the girly toys that had been bought for her. And, this was ever so clear as she spoke to Lucy. Jake found it amusing, Victoria found it frustrating, but their mom said it was fine. She was simply trying to copy her older brother, everyone had agreed.

The afternoon was spent playing with the children, and then with the usual routine in the evening of dinner, bath, getting changed in to pyjamas before having a bed time story. Lucy had had to read to the children, neither one of them wanting Jake to do it now that they had a guest. By eight, both children were tucked up in bed, fast asleep.

Heading back down to the lounge, Jake made Lucy and himself a drink, before settling on the sofa beside his friend. He knew, of course, that there was much more to talk about, and only now could they really get down to it, with the children fast asleep.

"So... how are you feeling?" Jake asked tentatively, taking a sip of his drink before he placed it on the mat on the coffee table. He was half turned on the sofa to face Lucy, arm resting on the back of the sofa, and eyes on her for the real story of her adventures.

The day was spent with the children , something Lucy didn’t mind at all . Dinner was yummy , She bathed Adrienne while Jake did Ivan and after that she read to them both . They didn’t want their dad to read they wanted her .

Picking Adrienne’s favourite story and getting her asleep before repairing the process with Ivan she kissed both their heads before wandering out to see jake .

The question he posed was one she expected all afternoon . She smiled a little . Making herself a whiskey before laying down , her head on his lap .” I’m .. better .” She said “ I’m happy again .”

Lucy waited a few moments before she went more into detail about her travels . “ I finally got fully clean in Tibet .. America was too tempting with the access to weed and other stuff ..Tibet got me clean and the tribe got me happy .” The tribe , she spoke for hours about the tribe . It was a strong magic race , unlike anything they had .” They’re so primitive .. yet their magic is so much above ours .. no Wands , but familiars .. it’s ancestral magic .” She told him .

Two drinks later Lucy looked at Jake . “ So what’s the big hero Nero doing nowadays ?” She asked . She might have been happy but she was still hurt by the mans actions

Jake had allowed Lucy to get comfortable, not bothered by her lack of personal space consideration. With children, you lost that comfort, but if Lucy needed that, then Jake would not deny her it. His attention remained on Lucy as she told her stories about Tibet and then the Amazon tribes, enjoying the details and glad to hear that she'd gotten clean in her time away.

It was a good step in the right direction, but they had to make sure that Lucy kept on the right path now, especially if she was going to be living with him and the kids, no matter how temporary her stay. Jake would simply not tolerate any weakness on this matter, but he didn't have to voice that much to Lucy.

"I've heard that the greatest wizards in the world don't need to channel their magic through a wand. It's cultural, though, the tribe would never have brandished a wand, so to them its natural. I wish I was that lucky." Jake murmured with a small smile. Wordless magic, Jake could do, but wandless was not something he'd mastered. Not that it was essential, but it would have been something he'd had loved to have been able to do.

After Lucy's second drink, Jake had taken the glass away, putting it up on the side. Substituting one drug for another was not something Jake was going to tolerate, but he was not going to insist on being T-Total. The question of Nero brought a raise of an eyebrow from Jake. "You really want to know what he's doing?" Jake asked, before giving a shrug of his shoulders. "Likely he's being the same dick as always in his personal life, but the Nimbus range are set to release their latest model soon." Jake explained, not being able to keep himself from sounding a little impressed.

Whilst Jake had always owned a Firebolt, the Nimbus Range was a very high quality model too and they were always competing to outdo one another.

Lucy knew that personal space wasn't an issue for Jake, especially with the kids. She didn't mean anything by being on his lap she just wanted physical comfort and being on his lap, while subtle meant she could have contact without anything being meant or happening by it.

Hearing how impressed Jake was with the magic the tribespeople had she smiled "Maybe you'll have to visit the tribe.." she said quietly. "Really sets things into perspective." She moved her head a little and pulled her hair up. Showing him the tattoo. While it looked like just a basic tribal she took his hand and made Jake feel her neck. Each little line was raised, and when one looked closely there were hundreds and hundreds of individual lines. "Each day without drugs or wanting to harm myself." She said quietly. It was a small achievement maybe, but in her world it was big . "Three Hundred and Fourty Two lines." At first they looked just like scratches, but each day she was clean in the tribe she got another scratch, another line and eventually it made the design.

Noticing he put her drink away she said nothing, instead the next time she went for one she got just orange juice to wash out the taste of the alcohol. She sighed, no good trading being clean for becoming an alcoholic. That was a path she didn't need to take , nor did she have any plans in she planned on taking her time and only socially drinking.

As he spoke about Nero Lucy couldn't help but smile and look up at Jake "Firebolts are still better." She had had a firebolt all the way through Hogwarts. Once she'd been able to afford it that was, after that..well The Nimbus didn't compare. It was close. But it didn't compare. Even the Nimbus she'd 'won' from Nero hadn't been used as anything except a broom to sweep.

Sighing she stretched out. "Anything good on TV?" She wasn't sure what Jake wanted to know next so left it open for him to make the conversations and ask the questions.

"I like my home comforts too much." Jake replied to Lucy's suggestion of going to meet the tribe. It was true, too, though he was quite humble in his celebrity status, Jake had become quite accustomed to the perks that came with it. Sure, his name was not strewn across the papers like it used to be, but he still had a good income from his stint as a professional player, and from time to time, he got work from it, too.

As Lucy moved his hand to her tattoo, Jake took it in with mild enthusiasm. Whilst he appreciated the art, he didn't like them personally. He knew why people got them, but for him, it simply wasn't something he'd ever want on his body. Though, of course, Lucy was completely different in her thought, and that was okay. As his fingers moved over the marks, he could feel the ridges -- why they had appeared, he couldn't say, but as Lucy explained, he nodded in understanding. "You've done really well, Luce." Jake praised her, and he meant it. The young witch had come through so much, she deserved to be told that she was doing well, that she was on the right path, and that she could keep on it.

"Firebolts will always be better. The Nimbus owner is a douche." Jake replied with a smile on his lips. It was true, Jake no longer respected the man who had created one of the greatest brooms in the world, and he would not pretend otherwise.

"Is there ever anything good?" Jake retorted to the question, passing the remote to Lucy so that she could put something she wanted on the TV.

For a short while, Jake was quiet, until he softly said.

"It's good to have you home, Luce, truly."
