Kenneth slipped through the gates at dusk, 20 other Basilisks following him in the gloom. They all had the customary black scarves tied around the lower half of their faces and black hoods pulled low, the Basilisk motif rearing up the side of the hood. He nodded to their escort who was allowing them into the castle, a man who also kept his face hidden. It was something Ken could respect and so he let the man keep his identity secret; if he had betrayed them, Ken would find a way to end him, despite the numerous contacts the man seemed to have.

The group had moved through the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest, avoiding Hogsmeade and getting within sight of the castle undetected. Then came the tricky part: they would move from the spur of Forest, around the back of the Quidditch pitch and cross the river to enter the castle from the rear, by the greenhouses.

The first part of the plan went off without a hitch. The Basilisks circled the pitch, their cloaks allowing them to remain unseen in the growing dark, even as they crossed the river on a efficiently constructed bridge. They were approaching the greenhouses when things began to go wrong.

A man and a student exited the greenhouses when they were still a good distance away. The student was a Pureblood: Ken had memorized all the faces of the Pureblooded students before this mission and his lip curled in disgust. It took Ken a moment to recall the man's name, but he had studied the staff of the school as well. He was Adam Samuels, the Herbology professor. A Muggleborn, so Ken had no quarrel with him.

Taking careful aim, Ken whispered the spell that would remove one more piece of scum from the earth. But as the last syllable left his lips and the green light shot from his wand, Samuels turned and saw what was happening. The man foolish shoved the kid aside, getting in the way of the green light, which enveloped him. He fell to the ground with a thump as the kid scrambled away.

Ken straightened out of his crouch. "Ugh. You five, find the kid before he raises the alarm." He motioned for the nearest members to leave, hopefully finding and killing the scum before he got too far. "The rest of you, inside as planned. We're about to make the Pureblood scum regret ever being born." With that, he strode into the castle, his own personal army at his back.

It was the day of love - as many would call it - and Jacques was sick of seeing the enchanted cupids flying around the castle giving people a Valentine letter from some idiot or another. Jacques was not fond of the idea of love. Love was a woman's weakness - or one of them, anyway - and he had no part in it. Not because he hadn't been shown love, because he had, but the Slytherin didn't like it.

It confused his image - which was a reality to him - of power.

The only way of getting away from the idiocy (as it had spread to the Serpents Lair, too!) was to get out of the castle. Which, Jacques realised, presented him with an opportunity. Whilst reading his not-so-legally-acquired Dark Arts book, Jacques had come across a number of potions, and plants that were of interest. Some of these plants could be put in to potions to nasty effects, and, well, the Slytherin was intrigued by this.

Which meant, Jacques had gone down to the Herbology Greenhouses to see the professor. Bribery was a skill that Jacques was still learning the more refined art of, and as he tried it on the professor, he could see that it was not working. In fact, Professor Samuels had all but thrown him from the Greenhouses, in the process of marching him towards the Headmaster's office in the hope it would put some kind of fear in to the Slytherin.

It was not, however, Professor Samuels that did that.

As they started across the lawns from the greenhouses, Jacques noted a group of men moving through the grounds, with a small amount of confusion, Jacques noted they were not... well, they didn't look friendly...

The Slytherin was not wrong, either, as a jet of green hurtled towards him.

Feeling his breath hitch, Jacques barely registered the growled "Go!" from his professor as he was shoved aside. His legs worked on auto-pilot in that moment, his heart already hammering in his chest as he darted back towards the castle. He thanked Merlin for not giving up on the running after Christmas, for it seemed it would be the only way he was going to get away in that moment.

Noting jets of light skimming past him, Jacques zig-zagged enough to avoid the spells, but not so much to slow himself down. Should he call out? No...

Too much energy.

Hurrying in to the courtyard, Jacques was thankful to see it empty - or perhaps a little annoyed, he wasn't sure as he ran through the gap in the doors. "HELP!" The French boy called out as he ran through the door in to a deserted hallway - perhaps he'd just missed dinner?

The sound of footsteps was nearing in that moment, and he knew his father's words of caution over the Christmas holidays were not just idle talk now.

Oh no, Jacques realised in that moment that he was definitely not as strong as he thought he was, he was twelve, and he had at least three grown men after him. He was terrified, and he didn't know what to do. His heart was hammering, trying to free itself from his chest.

And there was no help to be seen.

Naomi was sitting in the Common Room, reading by herself and wondering vaguely where Finley had gotten to when the vision hit.

Darkness, darkness. Black on black, a mass of people winding like a snake through the school grounds. A green light silhouetting a shape, a green light that no one should ever see...

Running, panic, shouting. The sound of footsteps and heavy breathing an imminent death. One voice, one voice rising above all the noise...

"HELP!" The French accent gave her a pretty good idea who this was...

Past an intersection, then another flash of green light and it was all over.

Almost before her vision receded and her normal sight returned, Naomi was up and out of her chair, sprinting down the stairs towards one of the first floor corridors. She had recognized one of the portraits in the background of her vision and she felt an unexplainable sense of urgency. This was going to happen now, or at least close enough to now that she didn't have time to go for help.

Though Naomi planned to call for help from anyone she passed, the halls were strangely empty. Probably everyone is either with a date or holed up in their rooms wishing they had one, she guessed, remembering the date. Regardless, there was no one to help her when she skidded to a stop just around the corner from the hallway she had Seen. She could already hear the commotion and she knew she'd have to time this just right...

"HELP!"

Naomi tensed, then leapt at the person as they ran past, knocking the two of them to the ground. A green light sailed over their heads, but Naomi was already scrambling to her feet, pulling Jacques with her. "Come on, we need to go!" she yelled, sprinting down the new corridor and hoping to lose their pursuers in the twists and turns.

Jacques breathing - already uneven by this point - skipped for a number of seconds as something hit him. In a panic, the Slytherin believed that he'd been hit by the curse Professor Samuels had tried to save him from.

Except something hard hit his side, knocking the breath from his lungs momentarily.

An explosion just beyond him made Jacques aware that he'd been missed, and looked to his side to see a familiar face. Natalie... Or something. Listening to what she said, Jacques pushed himself to his feet, hurrying after her, one hand on his side that ached a little bit.

Skidding around the corner, Jacques could hear the shouts getting further away, taking a moment to lean against the wall out of sight, the boy coughed, trying to get his breathing back. "We're gonna die." Jacques muttered, pushing himself to stand up. "There's no use running!" He insisted to the Ravenclaw, looking over his shoulder as another bang came, closer than the shouts.

Despite his words, however, his legs moved, trying to keep up with Naomi with the energy from the adrenaline coursing through his body. "What are you even doing?" Jacques asked the witch, somewhat breathlessly. Why were people so confusing, helping people when they could save themselves?

Naomi wasn't in the best shape, but the adrenaline coursing through her system was enough to get her a good distance from the attackers. Still, she was glad when Jacques stopped for a moment and braced her hands against her knees, panting. When Jacques started ranting about how they were going to die, Naomi rolled her eyes and reached out her hand, slapping him across the face. "Pull yourself together or we will die!" she snapped, surprising even herself with her attitude.

As they began running again, Jacques started asking stupid questions. "I'm saving your life, that's what I'm doing! Left!" She skidded around the left corner, then grabbed Jacques' arm and tugged him behind a tapestry where there was a passageway.

They ran further before Naomi ducked into a room, still off the secret passageway and shut the door, throwing every locking charm and protection spell at it that she could. She even turned the door to stone with Duro. At a glance, it would look like part of the wall. They were as safe as she could make them, for the time being.

The slap echoed in the hallway, and Jacques face turned incredibly sour as he looked back at the witch before him. Surprise hinted in his features, but mostly anger was taking over because she had dared to slap him. Nobody raised a hand to Jacques, not if he could help it. Not even his mother.

"Saving... my life?" Jacques scoffed, making an inconceivable noise as she dragged him around the corner. All this man-handling was so Muggle, Jacques was growing disgusted with the whole thing.

As they ran in to a classroom, Jacques threw his hands up in disgust. "Oh, great. Now you've gone and put us in a dead end, with no help. Do you have any idea what's out there? Who's out there? But more pressingly, do you have any idea who you just slapped? The consequences of such actions in my country. You'd be lucky to leave with your life."

But as he finished his tirade on her actions, Jacques noted that she'd very calmly blocked the door up, and confusion touched his features for a moment, his eyes moving back to the witch as his hand nervously moved to his wand. Was this a trap? Jacques wasn't sure, his cheek stung, his chest ached, and his mind was scrambled with the innumerable amount of possibilities of what was going on.

Seamus did not believe himself to be a bad man, no, he was a man who sought revenge, but he was not a bad man. This, at least, had been his ideology when he had passed up the information to the Basilisks in the first place. He was seeking revenge, but he was not a bad man for doing so.

Getting in to the castle for Seamus was not a difficult task, he was a Healer at St Mungos, and Hogwarts' inspection was due that month. He'd passed the information on to the Basilisks, and what they did with that information was up to them.

He'd been contacted though, to act as a way in, and Seamus had done so. Helping the group through the gates of Hogwarts meant his hands were clean of guilt, but he still could get payback on those men who'd made his life hell in school.

Seamus had kept his face covered when the group entered, waiting for the last to enter before he closed the gate behind him. He'd watched them until he could see no further, and then - when he saw the first jet of green, he'd turned from the gate, and walked away from the chaos behind the gates.

He knew it was wrong, deep down he knew, but he couldn't stop himself from doing it.

Entering the Three Broomsticks, Seamus had down two Firewhiskey's to still his shaking hands, and then left the establishment once more.

It's for the best, Seamus told himself as he apparated away, trying not to think of the Healer inside the castle who could potentially get caught up in the action.

Because of him.

"It's not a dead end, there's a window we can use to escape if we need to," Naomi said calmly, pointing to a window in the corner that, while small, they would both fit through. It lead out to a courtyard with several doors to different hallways.

As she was finishing up her spell work, Naomi just sighed and waited for Jacques to finish. "Are you done? I know there's people out there trying to kill us and I'm going to guess it's the Basilisks, since they've been on the move recently and they would have a reason to go after the school. Lots of Pureblooded students here. My Da told me they might be a problem over the summer, since he's been hearing a lot about them at work."

Naomi rolled her eyes. "Yes, I know exactly who I just slapped. Jacques Clement, French, heir to the Clement family and fortune. Also a huge brat and a person who would have been dead five minutes ago if it weren't for me, so I don't really care about the "consequences" since I didn't have to see your dead body lying in a corridor." She shoved her wand back in her pocket, muttering about ungrateful twats. She had 5 year old cousins who were less bratty than this boy. She refused to think about how she already had Seen his dead body lying in a corridor, since they could afford for both of them to be losing it right now.

Daniel had been filing the last of his paperwork for the evening, he knew he was late for the dinner he had planned with Naomira, but he knew she would forgive him. After all, they would not be together if she wasn't somewhat fond of his quirks! He'd just sent an owl to the witch in question, explaining he would be another half an hour, when something... odd happened.

An explosion, he was sure, erupted from the floor below him.

Frowning for only a split second, Daniel grabbed his wand and ran from his office, moving to the stairs, he could see chaos below him. Growling with anger, the man brought his wand to his throat, not needing to speak as he thought of the spell that would fill the castle with his voice.

"STUDENTS, TO YOUR DORMITORIES IMMEDIATELY. PROFESSORS, THE CASTLE IS UNDER ATTACK, FORTIFY THE CASTLE, AND KEEP THE CHILDREN SAFE." Daniel's voice boomed through the passageways, though he knew it wasn't much, he didn't know what else he could say. In the next instance, Daniel's Patronus went running down the stairs, and through the front door of the castle, on it's way to alert the appropriate authorities.

Hurrying down the stairs, the Headmaster moved in to the fray of the action, wand raised and ready to take on any bastard that thought they could take down his school.

Running a hand through his hair, Jacques tried to calm himself down, but despite no longer running, his heart was still pounding in his chest, and he felt sick to the stomach. The adrenaline from the run was fast running out, and the reality of the situation was hitting the Slytherin harder than he could ever have imagined in that moment.

The witch proved she was, at least, not stupid, as she explained who she thought the people to be. And at the point where she pointed out there were a lot of Purebloods in the castle to attack, Jacques leant against the side wall of the room, sinking down it slowly.

Natalie, or whatever her name was, was still talking as Jacques put his head in his hands, taking deep breaths as the reality set in. "I don't want to die." He told the witch, not looking up from the spot he'd chosen to stare at on the floor.

No, Jacques was not losing it - he refused to lose it, but somehow... It seemed like...

"STUDENTS, TO YOUR DORMITORIES IMMEDIATELY. PROFESSORS, THE CASTLE IS UNDER ATTACK, FORTIFY THE CASTLE, AND KEEP THE CHILDREN SAFE."

The sound of an explosion sounded somewhere beyond the wall that the witch had created, and Jacques flinched, not knowing what he could do in that moment, his eyes moved to where the door had been, wondering if it would truly be enough to keep him safe.

The attack that suddenly happened had caught the Ravenclaw Witch off guard as she was, unfortunately, stuck in the courtyard, enjoying the slowly warming weather that Febuary brought and trying hard to not think of her impending due date. Her baby was already ready to be born and while she was looking forward to the birth, she was not looking forward to the pain that would happen.

Cursing under her breath, the witch brandished her wand and moved silently through the courtyard, making sure to cast a Muffilito to silence her steps before pushing herself as close to the walls of the school as she could. It didn't take an idiot to figure out that the school was being attacked.

It's probably the Basilisk's she thought with a wince on her pretty face as she shuffled across the wall, making sure to peer through the different windows before her eyes found the two younger students huddled inside one of the empty rooms. Cursing softly again, she realized that they were probably second or third years, meaning that they weren't all that ready to fight anyone, much less grown wizards and witches ready to eradicate Purebloods.

Narrowing her eyes, she peered closer and cursed softly when she recognized the two students in there.

Naomi O'Hare, a third year Ravenclaw and Jacques Clement, a second year Slytherin. One a Halfblood and the other a Pureblood.

Knocking on the window, she waited for one of the two to notice her. She had to get them out of there. The school was much too dangerous to be inside now, at least for Jacques it was. And while she was not exactly ready to fight for anyone's lives, due to her pregnancy, she could not, in good conscious leave the two in there. The Basilisks would find them and Jacques would be dead within seconds. She did not wish to see the second year dead.

The due date of Adaline and his child was quickly approaching and Kai found himself losing it more often now, though mostly away from her. He had learned that stressing was something pregnant woman shouldn't do so he tried not to stress around her and for the most part it worked. However, every time he saw how large he was and every time he felt their baby kick, he was reminded of the short amount of time left.

Kai had been pacing one of the corridors when the headmaster's voice called out. However, being the person he was, the common room was the last place he'd go. In fact, he'd scan the entire campus first because Adaline had to be safe. He couldn't risk losing her and it'd hurt even more to lose her and their kid. So when the call ran out, Kai ran out to the grounds.

Adaline loved being outdoors, that was something everyone knew and that was his first place to check. Casting a spell to silence his footsteps and holding his wand at the ready, he sprinted across the grounds. Her large form gave her away but also did her hair. He could recognise the long, black hair from miles away.

He wanted nothing but to call out to her and ask her what she thought she was doing and WHY she was staring into a window but he kept quiet because it could mean life or death. Finally, after what felt like forever, he made it to her and saw the two younger students. She was trying to help them. He wanted nothing more than to drag her to his common room, but what if the castle was no longer safe? No words were exchanged between them, but he knew that she knew what he would say. He would protect her no matter what.

Naomi's anger melted as Jacques stopped yelling and just kind of folded in on himself. "I don't want to die either, so we're not going to," she said firmly. He looked kind of pitiful and Naomi felt kind of bad that she had slapped him earlier. Although it had gotten him to focus on getting away and not panicking so much.

"We're gonna be fine. The teachers know what they're doing and they'll protect us." Naomi didn't want to mention that her spells on the door wouldn't hold up to much bombardment. After all, she was only a third year, no matter how well she knew her defense.

Just then, there was a rap on the window. Naomi spun towards the sound and had her wand out in a second before noticing that it was only another student, the pregnant Ravenclaw. Adaline, Naomi thought.  "Come on, let's move somewhere safer," she told Jaques, opening the window and slipping out easily. She felt safer now that she was no longer the oldest student in the group, even though Adaline was so heavily pregnant that she probably shouldn't be on her feet at all. Besides, she saw another older student, Kai, running up as well, so they would be much safer.

"We should leave the castle, if we can make it out," she said as soon as her feet touched the ground. "They'll think that all the students are in the castle, so that's where they'll put most or all of their people. We could probably reach the Forest in the dark."

The girl's words meant little to Jacques. She didn't understand why he didn't want to die. He had so much to live for... so much to do, so much to become. And the whole idea was crumbling around him and he was... well, scared.

When a knock came at the window, Jacques jumped so much in that moment, he was more than relieved it had been someone that didn't wish to kill him. He'd have been dead if the witch in the window wasn't who was stood there.

The insistence that they go was not one that Jacques agreed with. He was safe here. They had barricaded the door, they could do the same to the window and it would be safe. But Naomi was already up and out the window before he could say no. Looking sheepishly towards where the door had been, and the window where they were being enticed to exit through, Jacques sat for a long moment, weighing up the ideas.

It was Naomi's words of getting out of the castle, and the grounds, that prompted Jacques to move. If the Basilisks were in the castle, the best place for him was out of it. Pushing himself to his feet, and ignoring the shaking of his legs, Jacques climbed through the window.

Lowering himself to the floor, Jacques pushed past the three of them - not really noticing, or caring that Adaline was pregnant. His feet were moving in the direction of the forest, not waiting for the others to follow him, because he was the only one in danger, he was the only one who mattered, and they could be lost before the Basilisks reached him.

Jacques did not have to think twice about that.

Adaline's lips pursed when she saw Naomi climbing out of the window and then Jacques following her however when he just pushed past them, the Ravenclaw witch frowned and shot forward to grab a hold of the second years arm and tugged him harshly backwards.

"Jacques Clements, you will slow down and walk between me and Kai before you get lost and get yourself killed and this time no-one will be there to save you." The witch scolded the younger boy and gave him an unimpressed glare that spoke of how much she did not like his attitude. "Just because it's the purebloods that are being attacked doesn't mean you have any right to just run off and leave us to worry about you. This is not some type of game you know." She chided him. "Any one of us could lose our lives here. The Basilisks may be aiming for the Purebloods but the Muggleborns and Halfbloods will die too as this a battle and no-one knows what happens in battle." She narrowed her eyes. "So you better stay with us where Kai and I can protect you and Naomi better. Understood?"

Adaline's eyes narrowed even more upon the second year and she was tapping her wand against her leg while silently setting up silencing charms around Naomi and Jacques so that they wouldn't be heard by the Basilisks that may be lurking on the grounds.

When the brat child took forever to climb through the window, Kai himself almost climbed into the window and drug him out. Kai couldn't stand the thought of the boy putting his family in danger more than his family was already in danger. Scared or not, heir or not, no one had the right to be a dick. However, when the kid finally did climb through, he stormed ahead and Kai smirked as his girlfriend got ahold of him.

The kid was jerked back so fast that Kai almost laughed. It was something he deserved. No kid in their right mind would storm ahead in the middle of an attack and Adaline was right. They were all in danger right now. The spells could miss and hit any of them, not just the Pureblood. When Adaline had finished scolding the boy, Kai took ahold of his arm in a tight grip. "Stop stressing people out kid," he glared at the boy, "especially her." He pointed to his girlfriend.

"If the stress that you put her under causes any issues with that baby, I will find you," he threatened, a cold, hard stare at the kid as they walked, the boy in between him and Adaline held tightly by Kai.

"I don't know about you, but I don't want to be delivering my child in the middle of the forest because some spoiled BRAT like you caused her to go into labour." Kai practically shook the boy not caring who he was or who was witnessing. In fact, he'd be lucky if he ever lived to claim his fortune, because they could all die tonight.

Ready to put as much space between himself and the others, Jacques had not anticipated being pulled back like a petulant child in that moment. He came back to the witch's side much quicker than he'd left though, that much was for sure.

Trying to pull his arm away from the witch as she addressed him, Jacques was getting increasingly stressed with the situation. He'd left a safe place only to be man handled and stopped from getting away. This was not logical, and he didn't need the people around him. Or, Jacques thought he didn't, the truth of the matter was the complete opposite, of course.

"I don't need protecting." Jacques insisted, pulling away just enough to be free for a moment, before his other arm was caught by the older boy in their group. Eyes narrowing, Jacques tried to pull away once more, but the grip of the Gryffindor's was tighter than the girls, and he was not strong enough to get free.

The threat, however, did not sit well. "You can try." Jacques growled back at the boy beside him. "But I have more resources than you could dream of." He finished, giving up on trying to get free and allowing himself to be led by the older boy.

Being called spoiled did not irk Jacques, however, he had everything he wanted, of course he would be deemed spoilt by anyone who didn't understand the privilege of his name. Spoilt was not something Jacques thought badly of, and thus he kept quiet, his eyes straight forward, glaring at the trees ahead of them, and waiting for an opportunity to get away.

Impulsive was one word that could be used to describe Travis. Especially tonight. As the voice of the Headmaster trembled through the walls of the school, he knew that he could not sit back and wait for the action to be over.

Grabbing his wand, Travis had hurried up from the dungeons and put himself right before the group of attackers. His eyes moving from one to the next of the figures that had entered the school, Travis took a moment to assess the situation. Shouts from the teachers - or perhaps his peers rose up from behind him, but Travis wasn't listening.

"If you want them." Travis spoke clearly, loudly, addressing the man in the middle as he raised his wand. "You'll have to go through me first." The Hufflepuff insisted, flicking his wand towards a member to the right. A knockback jinx, simple but effective, of that much he was sure. His next spell went the other way, and Travis couldn't help but feel his confidence grow in that moment.

Eyes turning back towards the man in the middle... Travis cocked an eyebrow in a challenge.

Kenneth and his group made their way into the school stealthily, at least for now. The pounding footsteps of the chase group faded away as he made his way into the Entrance Hall. From here, they could get anywhere in the castle... Ken decided to start with the Slytherin dorms. There was usually a high concentration of Purebloods in Slytherin.

He was just about to turn off to the side when he heard a calm voice trying to intimidate him. He turned to see a teenaged boy standing there, on the older side, but still young. His wasn't one of the faces Ken had memorized, so he wasn't a Pureblood. He did throw some rather effective spells though, and Ken had to admire his tenacity.

"Well you see, I really don't think that'll be much of a problem," said Ken, calmly deflecting the next jinx the boy sent out, sending it ricocheting into a nearby column. His voice, disguised by a spell, came out gravelly and deep. "You have guts, though, I'll give you that. You could join us." He shielded against the answering curse. "Then again, perhaps not."

Though Ken wanted to protect as many Muggleborn and Half-Blood students as possible, no one was allowed to stand in his way. He exploded the stairs under the boy, sending him flying and creating a spectacular boom that resonated throughout the castle. Well, the students might as well come to him.

Walking over to the prone body of the boy, Ken knelt to take his pulse. There was none. He stood up, dusting off his hands. "That should teach them not to stand in our way," he muttered. He heard the voice of the headmaster echo through the school moments before the man himself entered the hall.

"Headmaster. So kind of you to join us." Though it remained unseen behind the scarf concealing his face, Kenneth wore a crazy grin. He raised his wand against the Pureblooded headmaster. "Care to dance?"

Ethan was wandering the corridors as usual. His first button was undone and his tie loosened. He was thinking about goin outside, however he wasn't in his normal self so he took to wandering the halls. He was rather grateful he chose the halls instead of outside. At first.

He happened to be somewhat near the entrance hall when it all went down. Ethan jumped slightly at the noise of other people but most of all, the sound of the Headmaster's voice echoing through the halls. His first thought was to run into the people head on, but Travis had already beat him to it. He watched form the corner, barely revealing himself to the intruders. The man in the middle seemed to be the head of the group. His father had said something about this group in one of Kyle's letters. The Basilisks. They hunted purebloods. That's what he was, however.

Ethan wanted to scream at the man, run from him, and fight him all at once. Travis was dead. His friend. The Hufflepuff was too impulsive for his own good. The headmaster's arrival is what encouraged him that there was still some hope. Ethan fired a hex in the group's general direction and fled. That's when he remembered Layla. He took off down the hallway, unsure of what happened to his hex in hopes it took the a guy off guard. He had aimed it pretty well.

His feet were pounding up the stairs and through the corridors he entered Gryffindor tower, to find him not there. He didn't see anyone in there. Great. He turned and started running again, glad he made himself run after some Quidditch practices. Where would Layla go? Ethan had to think fast and get them both to safety. Yes, she was a muggleborn, but so was Travis, and apparently that didn't matter to the man in the middle.

He called out, his voice a little louder and shakier than normal and in the corridor outside the room before barging in, "Layla?"

Adaline stared blankly at Jacques, her blue eyes darkened in anger and narrowed upon the second year who was making her actually question why she was helping him before she roughly shoved that thought away.

She was helping him because he was only a child really with only money and arrogance to his name. He was only a second year without any type of formal training in battle. And he just made Adaline want to smother him and protect him from the bad guys but that did not mean she liked or even approve of his attitude. Sure he was the heir to an old Pureblood family but so was she even though she was a half-blood.

"And what do you think you can do, hmm?" Adaline questioned the younger boy as she cocked her head to the side and placed a hand on her hip. "You are nothing more then a second year. A vermin to the Basilisk who do not give a damn about your family name or how much money you have." She told him sternly and seriously.

Hearing the growling voice of the Slytherin made Adaline snort softly and roll her eyes. "More resources then we could ever dream off? Don't make me laugh Jacques." She hissed. "You may be an Heir of a prestigous French name who are treated like Royalty in France but here no-one gives a damn about your name. You are no longer in France but in England where the people here do not care who you are. To them you are nothing more then a spoilt brat one that needs to be taken down a peg or ten." She muttered as she led -more like stomped- the way to the forest. "You have no power over anyone here and should you wish to run off then the Clement family will find itself without a male Heir to the family because it's only one decided to run ahead without any protection what so ever."

Her lips pursed as she tried to hold back her laughter at Kai calling Jacques spoilt. "He's not exactly spoilt." She murmured, eyeing the Slytherin between the two of them. "More like he's arrogant and that arrogance is going to get him killed one day. Maybe sooner then he thinks if we do not hurry up." She hissed the moment she felt the ground beneath their feet shake from an explosion from the castle.

They needed to get to the Forbidden Forest where she could put up wards to protect the four of them from any upcoming danger; she could do that while on the move as well but it would be much better for them to be in one place only. The wards would hold up much better then.

Daphne had been doing patrols when she had heard screams and shouts. She pulled out her wand, and ran to the Entrance Hall where the alarming sounds where coming from. She saw a group of kids and surrounding the area. Everything was happening all at once. What seemed like a quiet night, was turning out to be a disaster. A night they would never forget.

She hoped that everything would be under control and the professors could solve the situation and make sure nobody got hurt. But she was skeptical of the situation at hand. She had heard rumors about a group from her walks in Diagon Alley over the summer. She didn't know what they where, just that they were bad news. And Daphne hated bad news.

Every time she heard bad news, she flashed back to the day she learned her mother had passed, and she had to grow up rather fast. Daphne hated her childhood, and because of that, she vowed to have as much fun as she could when she was an adult. And the castle being put under attack was not having fun.

She listened to the headmaster's booming voice, about sending the children to the dorms, and the professors staying to sort out the attack. Well.. this was it. She saw Headmaster Jameson, and looked to him for instructions. She wasn't sure what to do, but she got out her wand ready for a fight.

It had been a particularly lazy day for Layla. She had went to her classes and finished her homework before settling in the music room for the night. She had only been in her skirt and her Gryffindor vest, her robe left behind in the common room as it was always comfortable that way, especially for her music. Ethan had been doing his own this, this she knew as they didn't always spend time together.

Sure, time together with him was great but she didn't need to be with him to love him. They had understandings to meet when no one was around and also, Layla told him that she'd like to have time for her to write and practice new and old songs, that of which he respected. She wouldn't lie, the past few months had been great and Ethan was great but she also loved time alone to be one with the piano.

In the middle of a new song, the Headmaster's voice sounded across the school. An attack? Layla was puzzled but at the sound of an explosion, she panicked. There was no way she could make it to the common room, she was far too scared. She found herself ducking under the piano, fear coursing through her body. Was it the group Ethan had told her about? The group that hunted Purebloods? She really hoped not because she loved Ethan ad she didn't want to have to attend a funeral for him. She couldn't imagine living without Ethan and she didn't want to. However, the thoughts were there, causing her to cry under the piano in the music room. She was not safe.

At the sound of feet pounding the corridor floor, Layla's heart practically stopped and when the door opened, she began to quietly sob. She was gone, she was dead, they;d show no mercy. Her hands gripped the leg of the piano and she shut her eyes, not wanting to see her murderer. Surely the person that called her name was just a figment of her imagination because Ethan was dead, just like she was. Dead. Forgotten. "Ethan," she cried, her voice soft, longing for her boyfriend who was dead.

Heart pounding with anticipation for a noise from the room, he couldn't hear anything. Cursing silently, he opened the door, wand raised in anticipation for some kind of threat to be there. He didn't see anything at first, and he guessed that was good for a second, but he was out of ideas of where the young Gryffindor might be.

He bit his tongue, holding back several swear words. He shouldn't have waited at that corner, he should have waited for her somewhere, it was his fault she was gone, but they wouldn't hurt her, wouold they? Not unless she stood in their way. He didn't know if Layla would have fought them. Probably though, the more Ethan thought about it.

As he turned to race the corridors once more, he heard it. Her voice calling out to him. He whipped around. his eyes raking across the room. He spotted her, finally. Under the piano, strangely, but at least she was safe. He crossed the room in a couple of strides and bent down on his knees, ducking under the piano and engulfing her in a hug as he let out a shaky breath of relief. Letting her go, he held on to her hand and backed out, completely letting go so she could crawl out. "Layla," he said as calmly as he could trying to hide what panic he was under at the moment. "We need to get out of the castle, now." His wand was raised and pointed at the door, his other hand extended to her. Eyes flicking anxiously between her and the door.

Venus had had enough. She was in the kitchens when the Headmaster's voice rang out. Surely he knew taht some of the braver students weren't going to hide in their dorms. Some of them would have stayed and fight. It would depend on who was fighting for Venus to choose, Her heart pounded as she made her way to the entrance hall.

She had arrived slightly before the Headmaster himself had, and in front of her was none other than Travis Brown who had declined the man's offer of joining him. She glanced quickly, her mind making split second decisions, There was Professor Moon, and the Headmaster himself there now. This was it. Either save her own skin, or die with them. To her, it was obvious.

"I'll join you." She said joining the group of people, turning to face the professors, her wand raised threateningly. There was no way she was going to die for them. All she had ever known from Purebloods was hate, so why help them? She hardened her expression as her eyes flicked between the headmaster and professor that were there at the moment.
