PostSubject: Old Pages, New Faces (Humphrey)   Tue Apr 26, 2016 6:58 pm

Evelyn was going into her third year at Hogwarts and fortunately for her, that meant new books. She walked the aisles of bookshelves, her hand trailing the book spines, her nose inhaling the scent of old, worn pages and newer pages. It was definitely pleasant to her, typical Ravenclaw. Her summer had definitely come and gone quickly and for that, she was grateful. It meant she'd get to be around Caelan a lot more as well as she'd learn a new courseload and hopefully, this year she would make new friends.

The girl's birthday was swiftly approaching so now, she searched for leisure books to tell her father as gift ideas. She was only a third year, but she was one of the older kids in her year meaning come October, she'd be turning fourteen. It seemed so old, yet she knew most people would still see her as young.

Evelyn looked up to a shelf above her and instantly a book that had been on her want list for years caught her eye however when she reached her arm up, she couldn't reach. She was nearly fourteens years old, yet she had yet to even hit five feet tall and that was a depressing matter, however when a boy came around the corner, she looked at him as her hero. "Uhm, excuse me," she asked softly, "can you reach that book for me?"

Flourish and Blotts was hands down his favorite place, aside from possibly that interesting junk shop he'd found this trip. However, even all of those old and interesting items were hard pressed to compete with the smell of ink, paper, and well-worn books. The first thing he knocked out of the way was getting all of the school texts. Once he had those he brought them to his mom before begging her to let him go browse the books on his own. She looked at him for a moment, and eventually nodded. However, before he left she told him firmly that they were leaving in an hour, with or without him.

Ever since he'd learned to read the young boy could not get enough stories. When he was between trips to the library he even began writing his own. Humphrey kept his journal with the story plans and the notebooks with the actual stories in a locked chest under his bed. It was one of the few things he wouldn't let Casey see that he owned. Humphrey trusted her, but these stories were still rough works in progress. Maybe one day he would share them with her and possibly even others, but that time was definitely not upon him yet.

As Humphrey found his way into the fiction and leisure reading section he heard a soft feminine voice say something in his direction. Reluctantly, he pulled his eyes away from scanning the titles and noticed she had been struggling to reach a book. The question she had asked finally registered and his cheeks turned pink, but he nodded. "Y-yeah...no problem." he said awkwardly. Why did it have to be such a beautiful girl? Well, at least Casey wasn't here to see it. If she had seen him turn pink like that he knew he wouldn't hear the end of it. Stepping closer, he reached up on to his tip toes and pulled the book down for her. Carefully, he held the book out to her. "What's your name?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Even though it was a book store and not a library, it felt weird to talk loudly around so many books.
