Taking Stock (Tessa) Empty
PostSubject: Taking Stock (Tessa)   Taking Stock (Tessa) EmptySun Jan 19, 2020 2:39 pm

April 2027

The job had come up at just the right time, Chester had reflected on his first day of appointment as CEO of Fox Network. His last job had come to an unfortunate end, really, and so to had the readily available sex that came with the affair he'd been having. It wasn't Miriam's fault, he supposed, she was a beautiful woman, who would always have caught the eye of other employees, and employees talked. It had just been unfortunate that he hadn't been able to finish their rendezvous before they'd been caught mid-act.

Still, new opportunities were welcome, and Chester had found that this change was not all bad.

The first day had consisted of a short tour in the morning of the Fox buildings in LA. An explanation of where his own office was -- which came with one of the best views he could have asked for, thank you very much -- had been swiftly followed with paperwork being brought to him to bring him up to date with the current affairs of the business. Their investments, their potential acquisitions coming up in the next month, potential new shows that had been approved by lower members of the board waiting on final approval, charts displaying the figures of watchers' habits in the last six months, and most importantly, the last quarter's figures.

Profits were looking to have suffered slightly in recent months. This prospect might have given rise to concern in the man had it not been something that had stood out in his last post. The changes in America were causing a stir, creating uncertainty, and with uncertainty came a squeeze on funds the public were willing to let go of. He would be starting in the lightly bubbling waters, trying to control the economic impact of the world's current situation, and the likelihood of coming out smelling like flowers after all this was one that he didn't like to think of.

It was a challenge, though, and Chester loved a challenge.

What had stood out the most, though, was how his secretary had been very, very attentive in the first week after his arrival. The girl was young, currently studying at night school -- what she was studying, Chester had bothered to remember because it honestly didn't matter. Mia had followed his instructions with the obedience he would expect of someone in her position, and the way she dressed in those almost too short skirts, and a button up shirt that was almost certainly made just too small was nothing to complain about either.

The first week hadn't brought forth anything too challenging for Chester to do, giving him time to get his feet, learn about the company, and start to develop strategies to build Fox back up from this temporary slump it had started to fall down in to.

But nothing easy was ever going to last.

In the second week, a meeting with the board of directors had been called. Chester and the CFO, Alex, had been given their invitation, as if they had way to refuse. Mia had collected the minutes for him, ensured his day was kept free for any additional work he may have to do in preparation, and had kept all of his would-be appointments at bay on the otherside of the glass office, leaving Chester to his own thoughts and notes.

By the time six o'clock arrived that evening, and Chester had pulled his suit jacket back on, a light flurry of nerves crept in to his stomach, trying to cause worry that wasn't necessary in him. The elevator moved down seamlessly to the luxurious meeting rooms that the Fox building boasted, and Chester stepped out of it to find the hall almost deserted. Except for Alex who looked to be under way too much pressure.

"They're not here yet." The CFO advised him as he moved to the other man's side.

"Of course they're not. The board of directors never are." Chester replied, which brought a hesitant smile to the younger man's lips, but it dissipated before it could fully assert itself.

"Do you have much to-"

The elevator doors opened, emitting a steady stream of director's from its jaws. Chester brought forth a charming smile in that moment, greeting each member warmly, shaking hands. When most of the group had gathered, they moved in to the meeting room, to the large circular table, and took up their seats. The only person missing by this point, the former CEO, Tessa Greene.

Of course, the woman would be late to the first meeting since she'd stepped back from her post as CEO. Women were fickle that way.

"How are the figures looking so far for this quarter, Alex?" Came the question from one of the shareholders, Chad May. A wealthy man, but a total ass, so far as Chester could tell from his reading up on those he would have to deal with during his time here.

"Similar to last quarter, so far." Alex replied nervously, looking to Chester for some kind of idea on whether to divulge when all members weren't here.

"Holding out on us, I see." Mrs May commented, her voice clearly that of a heavy smoker as she lifted her glass to her lips. Chester only gave an apologetic smile as she caught his eye, leaving her smiling with yellowed teeth in to her glass.

Elsewhere around the table, conversations had started. The directors discussing their latest vacations, or the recent achievements of their offspring. Talks of upcoming nuptials were included, but nowhere in the room was anything useful provided to Chester as he listened in on as much as he could, trying to get a feel for the field as they waited for the final member to join them.

Taking Stock (Tessa) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Taking Stock (Tessa)   Taking Stock (Tessa) EmptySun Jan 19, 2020 11:07 pm

It had been two weeks since Jackson broke up with Tessa. And she knew that it wasn’t going to get any easier as she would find herself crying. But she knew that she would have to go back to work. And she knew that throw herself into work should help her. She had sent an email saying that she was stepping down as CEO. It was because of everything that was going on in her life. But instead she was the director of the board. Tessa was going over the words that she had spoke to Jackson. Saying that she would get her revenge. But she knew that she said out of anger. Because she still loved Jackson and she knew that it was hard to stop loving a person. Even Damien after she found out that he was cheating on her. But she did want him to feel the hurt.

She had an email talking about the new CEO. Which she had no idea who he was but she sure that she would. Tessa wasn’t going to make any decisions till she meet him. For now she was just going to focus on something good. Work was the best thing to get her mind off of Jackson. She knew that there was a board meeting. Which meant that she had to dress to impress. This only meant one thing shopping. As she wanted to make a good impression. She wanted to make sure that she looked good as her first time being director of the board. She knew that this was an important job. Then she would have her own meeting with the new CEO. She just wanted to make sure that he was the right person for the job. But she knew that they wouldn’t hire anyone they didn’t feel couldn’t do the job.

Tessa made sure that she looked the part before heading to Fox. She wanted to go into her office before she went to the meeting. She knew that there was a picture of her and Jackson sitting on her desk. There was a part of her that was hoping Jackson would tell her it was all a mistake. And that he loved her so much. But she knew deep down that was never going to happen. And that she knew wishing it wouldn’t make it come true. She sighed as she walked into Fox and up to her office. It was good to be back. But she knew that there was so many memories of Jackson that was coming up. And she was thinking about all of the happy times they had. Which she knew that this was going to hurt her more than it was going to hurt Jackson. Tessa had left and stepped on the elevator. Which was taking her up to the floor that she needed. After she heard the ding the doors opened. That is when she heard the clicking as her heels were meeting the floor.

Walking into the room she noticed that everyone was here. She knew that she would be late but she was going to push that behind.  “ I am sorry that I am late.” Tessa was trying to get back into the swing of everything.

PostSubject: Re: Taking Stock (Tessa)   Taking Stock (Tessa) EmptyMon Jan 20, 2020 8:30 pm

The arrival of Tessa Greene was... well, unremarkable in truth. She arrived in a rush, apologising for being late, and took up her seat at the table without another word. The witch didn't spark up her own conversation with the others at the table, despite the fact she would surely know all of them from her time as CEO at the company, and a major shareholder in the company. Which just went to show that the resignation hadn't just been... well, boredom.

Chester had watched her only momentarily before his attention had returned to the May's who were now talking between themselves in what he could only assume was supposed to be whispers, but what were certainly not. The worry in their faces gave away that they were not too happy with the current performance, and the suspected results of this quarter, which meant they were worth keeping an eye on.

"Right, okay everyone, shall we get started?" Alex asked nervously, clearly wanting to get his own part over and done with so that he could sit back and relax throughout the rest of the meeting. "So, as you well know, the results of the network have been a little tighter than we would have liked last quarter, and I wish I was coming in to this meeting with slightly better news, but unfortunately, it looks like we're going to be going in to a second quarter of minimal growth in net profits, and viewership figures lowering once again..."

Alex's explanations would continue to highlight where the losses were likely arising from, and some of the strategies he would like to consider implementing, subject to the board's approval. Some were only minor adjustments which seemed to be preferable to the group at large, whilst some were a little more drastic and drew a lot of uncertainty in the group. Alex's responses had been positive throughout, though, bouncing back from the hard nos as if they weren't causing him more internal stress than was necessary.

"Now, I know that my list has been quite well met, but I would like to throw the question out to all of you to see if there is anything you would like for us to consider in our future strategies in making more money for Fox, or else, saving money..." Alex offered, looking around the room hopefully at all the faces of the board for someone to go first.

"Increased revenue from advertisements. Increase the breaks between the programmes being shown by twenty seconds each, the additional time would see increased revenue of... what..?" Chester offered, because that was the easiest of fixes that Alex had seemingly overlooked.

"Anywhere between £20 and £50 million," Alex supplied, almost without hesitation but with a caveat already coming. "But viewership may decrease if we make the breaks too long."

The boardroom opened up once more, looking for other suggestions to be brought forward to the table.

Tessa knew that she waste to the meeting. But she wasn’t going to pay to attention to it. As she knew that be just waiting for her. And she didn’t want to do small talk because that might bring up Jackson. That was something that she wasn’t ready to talk about. She wasn’t ready to admit that he had dumped her. Right now she was just ready to get this meeting start. It wasn’t like she had much of a life now outside of work. Tessa knew that Alex would want to get started right away. Which was a good thing because she knew that these meetings could run over in time. As Alex was talking Tessa was doing her best to pay attention. Maybe she came back to work too early. And she need more time but she knew that this was the best way.

She knew that he was talking about important things. He then was asking for suggestions to either make Fox more money. Or to try and save Fox money and Tessa had the perfect idea. This was her time where she could put her revenge into play. But she sat there as Chester was making a suggestion. Which it sounded good but Alex pointed out that longer breaks could mean losing viewers. Which was something that they did want or need. “ I have a suggestion why don’t we stop funding Jackson Blake?” Tessa wasn’t sure how this was going to play out. Since Fox was always backing up a republican. “ This would save Fox a lot of money. And if he starts to fuss tell him this is just a business deal. As right now we don’t have it. This is something that could be revisited before his next election.”

Tessa knew that this was going to be a fat chance. As she was going to make sure that Jackson would never seen anymore of Fox money. But she knew that she could be overturn with the votes. She did promise Jackson that he would regret what he did. After everything he did to her she was finally starting to get her payback. She wasn’t sure what the other members would think about what she was saying. At least she knew Jackson would never see any of Tessa Greene money again. She was sitting there quietly as she was waiting on their reaction. As it was just as important. Even though she knew that this was just some petty revenge.

Taking Stock (Tessa) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Taking Stock (Tessa)   Taking Stock (Tessa) EmptySun Feb 02, 2020 1:19 pm

The table stayed somewhat quiet for a few moments, clearly the board were trying to think of something to offer up to the Chief Financial Officer of Fox, but not quite confident enough to push their musings in to the boardroom to be discussed. It wasn't a new picture, truth be told, there was always hesitance until someone took the first step, and then... usually, the ideas would flow until they found one that would be agreeable.

“I have a suggestion why don’t we stop funding Jackson Blake?”

Chester's eyes turned to lay themselves upon the woman who had spoken, curiosity piquing at the suggestions she'd just thrown in to the room. It didn't take a well-learned man to know that Tessa Greene had taken a liking to the young Senator up in Milwaukee. Their relationship had been nothing short of publicised in the media, making the Senator look like a hearthrob he clearly wasn't, that had swooped in to save the Fox CEO (at the time) from a broken marriage.

“This would save Fox a lot of money. And if he starts to fuss tell him this is just a business deal. As right now we don’t have it. This is something that could be revisited before his next election.”

Obviously, there was trouble in paradise.

"I think that bailing on our Republican candidates at such a time would be a poor show of faith." Chester replied almost instantly to her idea. Beside him, Mr May was already nodding his head in agreement with Chester's words. "If we become a Network that will give money, and the come back on the offer because something personal may or may not have happened, then we're showing ourselves to be unreliable. We'll look at Senator Blake's funding after his next election campaign -- if he remains in office, then we'll at least be able to say we put one good American in the White House."

The general consensus around the room was one of agreement in that moment, but Chester's eyes didn't leave Tessa in that moment, trying to work out why she would be acting so rashly. Had she broken up with the Senator, then? That would make a lot of sense for the changes here of late, but it just showed that women were not strong enough for business.

"Any other ideas...?" Alex asked, but the resounding silence around them showed that the board were just going to be happy with what their CFO has already offered, and between Chester and Alex, they were going to have to make this shit show work somehow.

The meeting would continue on with news of what was going on throughout the network at the moment, bringing the board up to date. It took a few hours, and the night was starting to draw in by the time all of the board stood from their seats, but it had been fruitful in getting to know everyone they had to try to appease. Something Chester was more than capable of working with given time.

And, undoubtedly, he was going to have to talk to Tessa about her previous idea at some point, and get a handle on what was going on.

As the room started to empty, Chester spoke up.

"Ms. Greene, before you leave, please may I have a word?" The man asked, hoping she would give him the time as everyone else departed.

PostSubject: Re: Taking Stock (Tessa)   Taking Stock (Tessa) EmptySun Feb 02, 2020 4:31 pm

Tessa was looking around the table as she was waiting for someone to speak. She knew that she proposed something that would be normally out of the usual. As they always backed a republican so going back on their word wasn’t good. But only Tessa knew the real reason behind all of this. And she wasn’t ready to show her reasoning behind it. Also she didn’t know how others on the board would take it. As she knew that she was just one vote. Even if she owned a good share Fox it would still be put to a vote. All she can hope is that they would think about it. Tessa then had to sit there and listen to the new CEO talk. Which he did have a point but Tessa knew that this now was a personal matter.

She knew that this would look bad on the network. Tessa knew that this would be her first step in getting her revenge. Now she was just waiting to see if anybody had any other ideas. Because she knew her would be a huge risk. But it was something that she was willing to take. Also it was up to the rest of the board too. This wasn’t just her decision.  Tessa was sitting there listening as the rest of the meeting continued.  Soon it was coming to a close and Chester Milstone the new CEO of Fox Network wanted a word. She knew that it was because she suggested that Fox stop funding Jackson Blake. Which she knew that this was going to happen soon. It wouldn’t be long before every one would find out that they were broke up.  She was doing her best not to think about that part. As she was still sore about it but she knew that would be just a temporary feeling. And she would be the old Tessa Greene.

As everybody was leaving she was staying behind. “ Yes Mr. Milstone?” She knew that she would be ready for all the questions he was about ready to ask. And she knew that she had to be ready to explain herself. Tessa was telling herself that this wasn’t just petty. And Jackson had really brought this on himself. And should have known that this could happen. Right now she knew that she would have to argue her point. And hopefully Mr. Milstone would see her point.

The witch seemed to wish to oblige him a moment, and Chester gave the witch a warm smile as he waited for the last of the members of the board to vacate the room. Alex paused outside the glass doors of the meeting room, clearly unsure if he needed to wait for the CEO or be on his way. Chester simply gave him the small head movement to say he could go, they could catch up tomorrow when they were both a little more fresh from the antics of the board meeting.

As the witch addressed him just as cordially as he'd addressed her, Chester took note of that much as he considered his strategy moving forwards. Perhaps with a little more sensitivity than he would have liked, truth be told, but he could manage that much.

"Thank you, Ms. Greene." He acknowledged her acceptance of the small, private meeting, before he continued on. "As you know, I've taken on your role here as CEO, and I hope you won't find that too much of a change from the role you're used to. I was just hoping... well, as you stated in the meeting, you would like for the Network to consider taking away the funding of Senator Blake's campaign. This would likely cripple his work in Milwaukee, and though I have no personal ties to the man, I'm sure you can forgive me if I suggest that such measures would be... ill advised unless truly necessary."

Chester paused, allowing his words to sink in before he continued on. "That said, I believe that you would have only suggested to take the funding if you had a very good reason to do so. I didn't want to put you in an awkward position with the rest of the board present, so I pushed the idea straight out of the question. Perhaps you and I can have an understanding, though, and I can reconsider your idea?" He proposed, waiting to see what kind of story the former CEO would come out with, and whether it was worth Fox getting involved.

PostSubject: Re: Taking Stock (Tessa)   Taking Stock (Tessa) EmptyFri Feb 14, 2020 11:09 am

Tessa watched as people were leaving the board room. As she had promised to have a meeting. She was sure that this was about her suggestion. Tessa knew that it was out there and Fox always backed up Republicans. Which she didn’t have anything against the party but she didn’t want to fund Jackson. Not after what he did to her. But was she ready to bare the whole truth? Since it was so recent she knew that everything could come back out again. Tessa knew that he would need the truth. So she could get what she wanted. Even if that meant that she was going to hurt herself again. She knew that she was strong and would get over it. Tessa meant every word when she would get her revenge. But she knew that it was going to take some time. Which she knew that he would be always worrying. Because she told him that it could happen at anytime.

Just as she had guessed she was being told that this might not be a good idea. And was suggested that she might need to rethink what she was doing. “ I think that this is completely necessary.” Tessa was ready to stick to her guns. Even if Fox wouldn’t stop his funding she knew that the Greene/Grey family would. Even though she had promised Victoria. But she told her that it was all up to her family. “ Yes I know that you are the new CEO.” Tessa was ready to see how good he was. And she knew that they wouldn’t have hired him unless he was good. She was still settling in her new role in the company. Which she knew that it was going to take some time.

At least he was willing to hear her side of the story. But was she ready to bare her soul to a man that she just met? If Jackson wasn’t Damien best friend she would say that she had done that with Jackson. “ I think Jackson cheating on me when I needed him the most is a good reason. And if my father in law couldn’t even forgive his own son. Then I don’t think he would approve some senator doing it. Even thought I am not married to Damien I still consider him my family.” At least she knew that this was opening up something.

Chester disliked women, he really did. Especially when you had to deal with such dumb- The man cut the thought short as a soft smile touched his lips, portraying a man who perhaps felt 'sorry' for the kind of woman who got cheated on. Acting was much too easy, especially when you were shown one of the easiest games of playing.

"I am so sorry to hear that he did such a thing to you," Chester replied softly, his hand coming up to gently rest on the woman's arm in what would be portrayed as an affectionate gesture. "Men who do such things truly do deserve to be ruined."

A lie, but the woman before him needed to hear nice words now.

"I'll think it over some more this evening, and if I can try to make the board see merit in your idea, then I will push for it to be put through before the next payment is made to Senator Blake." He offered, allowing the woman before him the comfort of a promise he would be unlikely to keep. But, he would try for her sake.

"Shall we? I wouldn't wish to keep you any longer this evening." Chester offered, one hand settling carefully in to the base of the witch's back as he escorted her gently from the room. That would be enough talking for one night, and tomorrow, he could start fresh with the plan for Fox Network that was evolving in his head.
