Background
Sophia Ramirez-Santiago was born to Maria and Enrique Ramirez. Sophia lived a very simple life in Mexico, but dreamed of something more. Her mother encouraged her to go to the US, but her father thought that she should stay at home. But Sophia wanted more than the “American Dream”. She wanted so much more. So much more, that on her 18th birthday, she got up and bolted to Ireland. She didn’t know why she chose Ireland. She had been reading all about it whenever she could and it had always been her dream.
In Ireland, she met Quinten Collins. Quentin ran his own little dinner/inn in Dublin.
The dinner/inn was inherited to him by his parents when they died in a tragic boating accident way back when Quinten was in his early twenties. None of his 5 other siblings cared for the dinner/inn as much as he did, and his parents knew that, so they agreed to let Quin take it for himself. Quinten first saw Sophia, when she barged in one rainy afternoon soaking wet, and asked for a room. Naturally, it was rude to leave a woman out in the cold and rain, so he gave her one. She planned on only staying for two weeks, but it ended up being a life time. Six months after Sophia had started dating Quinten, he had asked her to marry him. And pretty much nine months after that, Little Enrique, or Henry, was born.
As a child, Henry grew up in Ireland, with frequent visits to Mexico to visit the grandparents. Since he only had one set of grandparents, when he went down to visit, they always thought of him as “too thin” and tried to fatten him up. With his mother growing up around that kind of background, she was almost the same way. So because of that, Henry is a little chubby in the cheeks, and in the stomach. Henry grew up raised by his 5 aunts, his father, and his mother, and regular visitors from the inn.
Including Mrs. Patty who runs the local bakery. She didn’t help with Henry’s weight situation, as she always offered him a free doughnut on a regular basis. The only time Henry gets called Enrique, is when his mother is yelling at him, which is almost all the time because he is a little trouble maker. He’s not the smartest, so he almost always gets caught. He is easily persuaded, especially by his 17 year old cousin, Phillip, who is pretty much his role model.
Philip saw that Henry was special. He didn’t tell anybody at first, as he thought it was just Henry pulling pranks, and succeeding, but he noticed that Henry could make stuff float with his mind, and blow stuff up when he’s angry when being ten feet away from said objects. One day, in Mrs. Patty’s shop, he wanted to pull a prank on her. Henry, being very fond of Mrs. Patty, objected. But, being as gullible and easily persuaded as he was, Henry gave in. Philip told him to concentrate on one of the doughnuts in the building and make it float.
So he did as he was told, and concentrated on one of the jelly filled doughnuts that he loved. He concentrated so hard, that all of the pastries in the store flew into the air. Amazed at what he did, Henry bolted up, and all of the doughnuts with filling in the middle exploded in the air making a gigantic mess. For his punishment, he and Philip had to clean the entire store, and he was told he was a wizard and was going to be sent to a school to learn how to control his magical abilities.
