Lesson Plans - Fall Term 2028

Witches and Gentlewizards, welcome to your first semester of 2027 at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. in accordance with the new lesson structures, you will find listed below all subjects on offer for the fall term, along with who will be teaching them, what the lessons entail, how the professor in charge should act/behave and other details to enrich your RP experience. Information provided below is only a guideline for you to flesh out later as you RP. Keep in mind, our strict professors will be shadow reading all your class threads to ensure realism and proper characterisation.

Subject:Arithmancy
Professor:Adelaide Goshawk (NPC)
Topic:Basic Number Conversion
Lesson Plan: Each number gives meaning to symbols. The focus of this lesson would be to try and derive numeric value from symbols with a focus on the Latin Alphabet. Class will start sharply at the indicated time and latecomers will not be welcome, even if they are a minute late.
Mood: Extremely strict when it comes to her lessons, Headmistress Goshawk suffers neither tardiness nor fools. In this introductory lesson to Arithmancy, she will assess your work and advise you on if you should pursue the subject. Normally she only deems half a dozen students worthy of the honor of pursuing Arithmancy to NEWT level.

Subject:Charms
Professor:Amanda Hanzel (NPC)
Topic:Aqua Eructo
Lesson Plan:The topic of the day is that of the Aqua Eructo charm. The charm is being taught with the idea that the students first learn how to start a small spout of water from their wands, enough to fill a glass to the brim. When the students have accomplished this, Professor Hanzel will guide them to try for a stronger jet of water that can hit targets she's made for rewards of house points depending on the strength of the water spout provided.
Mood:Happy/Jolly/Excited. Amanda Hanzel is known for showing off pictures of her twin daughters to anyone who would see them.

Subject:Divination
Professor:Clara Kent (NPC)
Topic:Dreams
Lesson Plan: insistent on the fact that the art of Divination is eon of not focusing, Clara Kent would have arranged her classroom as a campground with tents and sleeping bags, the sky above enchanted to look like a star strewn sky outside. Most of the lesson would be an attempt to make the children fall asleep so that they may dream interesting dreams that might point towards the future. Or at least give them a relaxed nap in the middle of the day. Mostly, Clara will simply let her students stargaze and fall asleep.
Mood:  Clara is very laid back and easy going. No student can be too tardy or unfocused for her and she will hardly intervene unless it seems like someone is about to harm themselves or another person.

Subject:Flying
Professor:Josie LeBlanc
Topic:A beginner's guide to flying
Lesson Plan:A guest appearance from the Hollyhead Harpies Chaser is something very few people have shied away from. Especially, it seems from the older male audience of the school. The lesson will be reviewing the basics of flying, and for those more capable, the Quidditch star has set up a mini game of Quidditch under her watchful gaze.
Mood:Upbeat / Takes no crap from anyone who wants to mention the pictures she's been caught up with.

Subject:Potions
Professor:Azalea (Murray) Harrington
Topic:Veriteserum Part 1
Lesson Plan:Azalea will cast her students straight into the deep end by discussing one of the most complex Potions known to wizard kind. The first lesson will focus on the theory and ingredients behind the potion with the new Deputy Headmistress explaining that it takes several months to brew. Throughout the term, the upperclassmen will be focusing on correctly brewing the potion while younger students will be assigned the preparations of simpler potions using similar ingredients. Azalea does not expect everyone to complete a perfect Veriteserum potion but would be happy enough at the majority of students having tried their hand at it to give them an appreciation for the craft.
Mood:Normally encouraging, understanding and humorous, Azalea is always ready to help and answer questions. Her demeanor has changed very little despite her now higher ranking position within the school.

So now that you know what's on offer, how do you participate in a class. Firstly, we highly encourage you to read the Student HandBook. Once you have done that, you will have a better idea of what is expected of you as a student.

Next, you may either reach out to someone to RP with or decide to do a solo thread. Either way, you may create a topic with the class tag clearly written in the title (i.e. "CLASS: Charms: Mimosa, Mercy and Mariah") Post according to the rules set out for a three person thread and you're on your way!

Finally, when the thread is complete, please submit the details of the lesson to this thread as a reply using the form below.

Code:
[b]Student (s):[/b]
[b]Subject:[/b]
[b]Thread Type:[/b]
[b]Link:[/b]
[b]Total estimated Point(s):[/b]

Feel free to submit multiple forms in one post if you decide to take and complete multiple lessons.

Only complete lessons/threads will be awarded points. Incomplete lessons may be submitted for review by the admin team but there is no guarantee they will be counted. Extenuating circumstances may apply however.

So go out there and have fun learning! Let the race for the House Cup, begin!
