Likes: (3 minimum)
Tea, learning, making friends, crowds (easy to disappear), making up stories, seeing people fooled by her stories, making people do what she wants, llamas, animals in general, reading, arachnids

Dislikes: (3 minimum)
The beach (sand in her shoes or sticking to her is unpleasant), her (ex) parents, supremacists of any kind, the SoS, Herbology, jazz, -ists and -phobes, jasmine flowers, coffee, worms

Strengths:

  • Acting/pretending/lying. She’s great at coming up with believable stories, sticking to them, and putting on an act so believable she could convince an Inuit he needs a fridge.

  • Adapting to cultures and different personalities; she assimilates really well. She might stand out because of her accent (or lack of), and her looks, but she picks up social cues and quickly enough that her personality conforms to the culture of a location or people group. She is, essentially, a people-chameleon.

  • Shockingly good memory; it’s not photographic, but it’s close enough. She can remember details and pieces of information that were said in passing. She’s definitely the type to remember what you wore the first time she met you, and equally the type to remember that snide remark your cousin’s mother made about her fifteen years ago.

  • Great at noticing details and things that most people miss; she’s got a sharp eye, although she doesn’t always remember to pay attention or use it to her advantage.

Weaknesses:

  • Liv doesn’t have very many real friends. She’s okay with this, most of the time. There are the rare nights she feels lonely, but it comes with the job, and she knew that when she decided to go down this path; she chose her bed, made it, and is, for the most part, genuinely content to lie in it.

  • While, obviously, her life was not sunshine and roses, Liv likes to pretend otherwise. She never ever ever talks about any life difficulties or trauma she’s experienced. Any insecurities she has is buried so deeply that sometimes she genuinely thinks she has none; any time spent in an actual therapy session would quickly disprove this, but good luck getting her to actually consider this, let alone go for it.

  • Distrustful; thanks to how she was raised and her background, trusting anyone does not come easy. It’s harder to get hurt when you automatically assume everyone is against you.

  • She isn’t the strongest when it comes to magic; she tends to rely on her ability to read people and situations, and her wit and charm, rather than on magic.

Positive traits:

  • Loyal to a fault, but only towards those she feels have earned said loyalty. Partially due to the fact that she’s distrustful by nature, once someone has proven to her they can be trusted, she’s all in. Once she’s decided someone or something, person or cause, is worth following, very little can sway her; she’d quite literally devote her life to it, without question.

  • Perhaps ironically, considering what she does, but Liv genuinely wants to make the world a better place. She’s seen what hate and discrimination and classification can do, and has done — and she wants no part in it. She wants the future generations of all people to have a better world than the one she lives in now.

  • Fearless; she’ll run head first into danger or things deemed dangerous without so much as batting an eyelid. She doesn’t think of herself as invincible, of course; she just doesn’t really see much of a point to being afraid.

  • Secure in who she is; while Liv plays a lot of different people and pretends to be things she’s not, at the end of the day she knows who she is and isn’t ashamed or embarrassed about that. She doesn’t let the pretence strip her of her identity or confuse her.

Negative traits:

  • Manipulative; Liv really isn’t the kind to sit around and hope things work out in her favour. If she sees something she wants, she’ll go out and get it — however possible. She’s got gaslighting down to perfection, and knows how to subtly nudge someone to do or say what she wants to hear.

  • Believes mostly in ‘ends justify the means’, which is the only reason she doesn’t feel (too much) guilt when she manipulates someone. It also means she’d do… pretty much anything she thinks it’ll take in order to achieve her goals, except murder or harming innocents.

  • She also doesn’t fully believe that there are truly innocent people; if there were, she wouldn’t manipulate them, because they’re the ones that need protecting. Children, obviously, are therefore off limits.

  • Liv has somewhat of an anger issue. While she has gotten better at hiding it over the years, and doesn’t act out (anymore) while she’s actually on a job, she does harbour said anger. Push too many buttons — or push the right buttons — and there’s a likelihood she’ll explode. If it’s not there and then, it’ll be later, to some poor unsuspecting victim like a server or doorman.

Olivia Hackett Rsz_ba10
Originally born as … someone else, whose name she doesn’t know nor remember, in magical Vietnam, Olivia was raised in an orphanage. She’d been abandoned at birth by her biological mother; the orphanage has no records nor does she really care enough to go looking. All she knows is what she was told; that she was found on their doorstep, newly born. It was in the orphanage, surrounded by tired workers and tonnes of other children, that she lived the first few months of her life.

Olivia was adopted at five months old by her (ex, if there’s even such a word) parents, and brought over into the UK. Her parents weren’t exactly the most culturally sensitive or aware, and raised her as white, ignoring her heritage entirely. Given the name Olivia Hackett — they didn’t even bother keep her original name on any documents — she was thrown into a white world.

As she grew older, her parents became more and more caught up with the whole idea of being anti-Pureblood, though they mostly kept their disdain for any Purebloods behind closed doors. It was on this hatred that Olivia was raised throughout her early childhood. Her parents had friends who believed the same thing, and they’d meet weekly to discuss various ongoings and bitch about the latest Pureblood news.

It was when she was about six that she both displayed her first sign of magic and her parents decided that being their child wasn’t enough — she was to become their weapon. They began to coach her, sending her to acting lessons under the guise of her ‘wanting to be an actress’; she didn’t. She wanted to be a vet, but her dreams didn’t matter as they grew almost obsessed with their ideologies and plans. They wanted her to be someone they could marry off to some rich Pureblood and use that connection to… take them down? She never really knew the extent of their plans, mainly because they changed with time, always shifting along with their twisted, awful minds.

She started Hogwarts at 11, finally getting some relief from her parents and their friends, and tried to find some normality among them. Facing microaggression and, on occasion, straight up racism, Olivia quickly took to what her parents had taught her to do, hating it at the time but seeing no other way — she faked it till she made it, putting on a pretence and making sure she said the right thing to the right people in order to fit it. It worked like a charm, and soon that distaste turned into a recognition that she had power to make people like her, and she liked that a lot.

Not very many people got to know the real Olivia during those years of school as she charmed both Professors and classmates alike with versions of her that were always just a little more docile, or likeable, or kind, or flirty, or whatever-else-it-took than who she really was. She thrived, though she never admitted as such to her parents.

It was during Christmas break in 2017, her 4th year, that her parents told her she was ‘finally getting put to use’. That she owed it to them for ‘saving her’ from Vietnam, and that it was time for her to pay them back for everything she’d done for them. She was introduced to the Nightshades, a group of people her parents had found who shared similar interests and who were actually willing to do something with their hatred. She became their ‘in’ to Hogwarts, where something they were looking for was supposedly hidden.

She did everything they asked of her, feeling each time something inside her protesting, telling her it was wrong. Still, she had little choice or say in the matter, although with each passing moment the discomfort within her grew. Almost exactly 2 years later, the attack she’d helped to plan happened. She watched in horror as her classmates and people she considered friends were treated harshly, culminating in someone she knew of, but wasn’t close friends with, dying — at the hands on a Nightshade. That scene still haunts her until today, in dreams and in memories; she knows she’s to blame, and it’s a stain she’ll never get rid of.

Her parents wrote it off, as they usually did; they said that sometimes ‘changing the world’ came with a cost. They promised her the leaders of the Nightshades had taken care of it, though, not that she ever really understood what that meant. All she knew was that she had to get away.

The following year, she graduated. Almost immediately, she packed whatever she could fit into a single backpack and left home in the dead of night, leaving everything else behind. She spent the next few weeks desperately trying to hide from her parents, not having realised the extent to which they would go to get her back.

Eventually, just when she was getting too tired of always looking over her shoulder to continue, she heard rumours of being able to find help at the Palace of Versailles. At first, she was suspicious — why would anyone help her? — but knowing it was either follow this lead or keep running until she died or her parents found her, she chose the former.

That was how Olivia came to work for the Clements. She was sceptical, of course — how were they any different from her parents who wanted the same things from her — but they proved to actually care for her and didn’t kill children she felt herself slowly warming up to them and the idea of working for them. She didn’t actually meet any of them, of course, and she wasn’t stupid enough to think she was important to them; she knew the jobs she was sent on were probably of low value, if they held any at all. She saw them as an interview, though, and threw herself into all of it with everything she got.

The years came and went, with Olivia growing to trust them and learn more about their intentions. In 2025, she was asked to move to the US, something that took her by surprise but made sense; with her skillset, she would find a way to fit right in no matter where she was. Getting told what she was actually doing, though, made her raise an internal eyebrow; unlike the previous jobs, this one seemed like it held actual weight. Spying on another Clement wasn’t quite… what she had in mind, but she trusted them enough not to question it, and moved to New York.

A year after she established herself in New York, she received a message from someone who claimed to be working directly under one Jacques Clement, and she realised, for the first time, that she’d made it — not only was she safe from her parents, she was in a position where someone with actual power had use for her.

Settling down in the US wasn’t all that difficult; it was just another white country she had to force to make room for her, disconnected to her heritage as she was.

Biological Parents
Her parents were both halfblood teenagers; her mother had fallen pregnant, and kept it quiet out of shame. When her then boyfriend found out, he gave her money for an abortion and left her. Unable to go through with it, she’d kept herself hidden as best she could with baggy clothes and pretending to be sick. When she did eventually give birth, she grew scared, and dumped the baby at the nearest magical orphanage she could find and never looked back.

Adoptive Parents
Felix and Robyn have a rather unusual love story — if it could even be called that. They met at a bar, and a one-night-stand turned into a two, then three, then four-night-stand. They barely talked, and didn’t consider the other a friend; they were purely in it for the sex and nothing else. It wasn’t love so much as lust, and they bonded over nothing except good sex until one day when one of them accidentally let slip how much they hated Purebloods.

It was a whirlwind romance after that, with them deciding to take things further than casual hookups; they got married two weeks later. Neither were very stable people, and they often fought and yelled and broke plates, making up (and out) sometimes minutes after destroying every ceramic object in their cupboards.

After discovering Robyn was barren, they decided to adopt, only just managing to pass inspections before getting Olivia.
