Seraphina is a thoughtful person that loves nature. With a environmental science professor, and a mother who works in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, she has a deep respect for the natural world. She often seems older due to her parents treating her with respect and including her on important family decisions. Though her thoughtful and serious nature often leaves her estranged from her peers. She enjoys literature and oddly enjoys reading while sitting in trees. The young girl hats muggle transportation due to her father's deadly car accident when she was six. Seraphina, unfortunately, bore witness to this tragic accident as she waved her father off from the driveway.
After her father's untimely death, Seraphina took to the forest more than ever. Her mother seemed to understand her need for privacy and left her be. Seraphina became independent after the death of her father. She found an odd herd of bony creatures that fascinated her. After some internal debate she confided in her mother about the strange creatures. She explained that she had never encountered them in the forest before and she found it strange that they would suddenly appear. Some days later her mother sat her down in front of the fireplace in their home. She explained that the creatures were Thestrals and that they could only be seen when a person witnessed death.
Seraphina found an odd sort of comfort from the creatures from then on and would often sit and watch the sad looking creatures. She watched for so long and crept closer each time. At the beginning the creatures ran from her. Eventually they allowed her to touch them. After that they became fast friends. She would feed them and spend hours with them. Her mother told her to keep a healthy respect of the creatures, no matter how friendly they seemed. Day, passed to weeks, weeks to months and eventually her mother told her that she would soon be readying for her term at Hogwarts. Seraphina found the prospect mesmerizing. She loved the idea of learning more about the magical world than books and stories from her mother.
