“The dangers of the imperius curse was also that when one cast  the Imperius Curse, one can easily get away with it by claiming that they themselves were under the imperius curse. When there is sufficient evidence that one is under the spell of the imperius curse, one can escape the penalty of the life sentence.” Cammie responded again. Cammie didn’t know why she acted upon this way but she really love this subject and she didn’t know why she’s so eager to talk more about the imperius curse.

Cammie genuinely loved talking about this types of topics. It’s interesting that a person created this curse. Even though it was dark magic, it doesn’t mean that one can’t learn about it.

All Cammie knew is that she will have lots of fun learning today’s lesson.

The first answer to come was from Sasha, a Hufflepuff witch, and Jake's eyes moved to meet her as she began talking, nodding along as she explained that the spell was an Unforgivable Curse. "Well done, Sasha, you're quite right, it is an Unforgivable Curse. Take five points for your answer. Though, please could you expand on what you mean by its 'the tool for Dark Arts'?" Jake asked, because he didn't fully understand that part of her answer.

Next came Tess' answer, and Jake's eyes moved to meet the young witch as she explained how to resist. Once again Jake nodded as he listened to the answer, before congratulating the witch. "Quite right, Tess, well done. Five points. Resisting the spell is based upon your will to resist. It is not easy to do so, either."

Once again, another hand went up, and Jake turned his attention to Cammie. There was a brief history -- slavery in the Middle Ages -- to which Jake nodded again. More theoretical, but most certainly correct. "Very true, Cammie, five points to you, too. Using the spell will land any one of you in Azkaban, so, please do not use the spell, the Ministry will know." Jake told them, even if it wasn't necessarily true, he could scare them away from the Unforgivable Curses. "And you're quite right, Cammie, they are the other Unforgivables, but that is not something we need to worry ourselves with in today's lesson.

Roxanne's answer came next, and Jake nodded along. "Very good, Roxanne, very good. The spell, like any other, can have dire effects if you cast incorrectly, you're quite right. Take five points for Ravenclaw." The professor responded, feeling very happy with the day's interactions, and the obvious amount of work his students were doing around the subject.

Again, Cammie added on, and Jake's eyes returned to the young Hufflepuff, before nodding. "That is one way to get around the penalty, yes, but very difficult to prove." Jake replied, because he'd seen some cases where people claimed such things, simply to try and cover themselves.

"So, today, we are going to learn how to try and resist the spell. You will each come forward and I will cast the Imperius Curse on you -- before anyone worries, as an Auror, I have the licence to use the spell, and will not be sent to Azkaban for using it." Jake assured them, though he doubted that everyone would find this 'good' news. "I will simply try to make you walk to the back of the classroom, touch the wall, and then come back to me. We'll perhaps see how many star jumps you can resist, too, if you haven't broken the spell by this point." Jake added the last with a small smile.

"You can have more than one go, if you would like, but please note this will tire you out. It takes a lot of will power, but also drains your magical core in doing so." Jake told them, getting off of his desk and moving around to the drawer. Pulling out a big bag of chocolate, Jake placed it on the desk. "You can each take a bar of chocolate once you've attempted the spell, and I insist you try to eat as much as you can to restore your energy.

"If there are no questions... who would like to go first?"

OOC:

You are each allowed to GM Jake placing your character under the curse in your post (I don't need to post this interaction) and complete the attempt at trying to resist the spell.

If you need anything clarifying, please PM me Smile

Once Jake gave her the points, she blushed pleased at herself for properly expressing herself. She smiled softly and lowered her gaze demurely as others continued to raise there hand and respond to Jake's questions. It was clear that being smart here was different than being smart in Beauxbatons. There was much more ambition here.

That trail of thought soon ended as it became clear what they would be doing in this class. The trepidation rose once Jake began to explain in detail what they would actually be doing. To actually be put under the Imperius Curse? She shuddered at the thought. She knew it would take a lot of mental prowess to properly fight against the curse, and as much as she liked Jake, she still was unsure of actually participating. But as no one actually volunteered as of yet, she lifted her hand to go first.

Getting up, she dusted off her skirt before walking to the center of the classroom. Taking a deep breath she knew what would be coming. She ignored how her hands shook once Jake moved forward to begin the curse.

"Imperio!"

There was no warning as the spell hit her and her body immediately straightened up. Her eyes became glazed as she began to walk towards the end of the classroom. This was oddly like a panic attack, at least that was the closest thing that she found herself equivocating this to. Her body was not her own and she found herself wondering if there was even a way to get out of the curse.

'But if this is just like a panic attack, then how would you even fix it?' her brain offered.

Continuing her walk, her mind began to force her breathing to slow. She tried to slow down her body but it felt like peeling away a part of yourself. It hurt, both mentally and physically to even fight it. As she reached a wall to turn, her frustration grew. Was there ever a time she could properly do something? Her hand touched the wall and then the embarrassing star jumps began.

It was on her fifth one when she felt herself shake. Her anger began to bloom as if from her chest, and soon her even paced jumping became unsteady. Her legs suddenly gave out on her and she fell. A small cry of surprise was emitted. It hurt, and she felt tears rise. The urge to jump had ended, but she was unsure if she had even successfully fought against the curse, or if Jake had taken pity on her.

She gave herself a few seconds before shakily getting up. Her legs were as wobbly as a newborn fawn and she was helped up by Jake to take a seat. She turned down the chocolate, but took the water hoping her body would stop shaking. This was the most unpleasant situation since starting school.

As Jake awarded her the points, Roxy beamed at the former Quidditch player, her back straightening just a tiny bit and her lips pulled into a slightly smug grin though it quickly dropped when the Professor revealed they would be trying to throw off the curse that day.

This was one part of the lesson that she wasn't looking forward, she could throw off the spell, that was true, but she didn't like the slimy feeling of the magic trying to envelop her mind and magic core. It left her feeling horrible and disgusting and just made her want to throw up.

Shuddering, the young witch made her way to the front of the class as soon as Tess had thrown off the curse; her eyes cautiously watching Jake and the wand that was pointed at her. She only had enough time to take a deep breath before the spell was shot at her.

"Imperio!"

The word hadn't even registered in her mind as the magic tried to take a hold of her, try to make her submit to the will of the caster; she wouldn't do, she had been put under the curse so many times that summer that trying to throw off the curse wasn't hard; what was hard was not just falling under the thrall of the curse and let Jake's magic make her do what he wanted her to do.

She only took three steps before her magic and mind rebelled against the magic, her body stiffening as she blinked her eyes and her head cleared from the haze, her lips pursing as she shook her head a few time.

"No." The word was spoken in a firm voice as she looked at Jake before she moved back to her seat,
taking the offered chocolate bar and biting into it. Her arms were shaking and her heart was thundering against her chest but at least she had thrown the curse off and could count the lesson a sucess even if she felt slimy all over.

Jake watched as each of his students worked through the task he'd set. Proud of the work each student put in, he congratulated each of them on the progress they had made before motioning them to the chocolates he'd gotten to fuel their magical core in the moment.

It was a lesson that worked through quickly, and Jake was surprised at the sound of the bell ringing off in the distance.

"Right, sorry everyone, that's all we have time for. Homework for over the Christmas holidays is to read over the subject we've looked at today, and make yourself notes. Obviously, you can't practice, so I won't ask that much of you." Jake said with a small smile. "Enjoy your break, and if anyone needs anything, you know my classroom door is always open to those who need it!"

With that, Jake motioned each of them out the door, with a soft goodbye, before he returned to the work on his desk that he had to get done before the holidays.

Class Now Closed.
