Work at the Ministry was starting to get busy - which in the Auror field was never something you wanted to hear. Hours were starting to increase, and peculiar things were taking place, causing the Auror teams to lead further investigations in to things. Of course, Jake couldn't talk about this, but he was more alert than normal, perhaps a little more tired than normal.

But he was still enthusiastic, like always.

And, what better place to start than with the younger years? The younger years were always much more fun to teach, always much more energetic, enthusiastic. Today would hopefully be no different, especially with the fresh layer of snow outside, and the realisation that Christmas was nearly here.

The board held Jake's usually, barely legible, handwriting, depicting the lesson for the day. The Smokescreen Spell. It was always a good spell when in a duel, or just to annoy roommates from time to time when they were trying to get to bed. Sitting on top of his desk, Jake waited for the class to fill up.

((OOC: Once again no tables and chairs!))

It was only Bennett's third lesson of the day and he was already tired. He hadn't slept much the night before but it had been enough. Of course, Bennett wasn't going parade around the school complaining about how tired he was. He was going to keep that to himself. With that in mind, he walked from the Dungeons to his DADA class and immediately wished Professor Newbury could just give them chairs and desks for once. Sure, classes were always fun when there wasn't any seating available but maybe he could try them for a change.

Since Bennett was really liking the snow, he greeted the professor with a smile and dropped his bag on the fkior before heading out to look through the window. He wondered what it was like to be truly in the snow, the way animals were. If Bennett were an animal, he would be a ferret. He had decided that long ago. Looking from the window to the board, Bennett recognized the spell only by name but he had still not tried to cast it. Hopefully, though, he wouldn't have much trouble in the day's lesson since Hufflepuff was tied with Ravenclaw for the House Cup so far and Bennett wanted so badly to help his house win. Even if Hufflepuff was a crappy house sometimes.

Defence Against the Dark Arts was always a frustrating class for Finley. Sometimes he could manage a small glimpse of the spell they were trying, other days he would manage some kind of magic they weren't supposed to be doing and he had no idea how it had happened, and sometimes, nothing would happen at all.

But Finley kept trying.

Stepping in to the room for the class, Finley noted there was only one person here, smiling towards Bennett, Finley moved to stand next to the Hufflepuff, hoping Naomi would be along soon to join them. "M-morning, Professor." Finley greeted Jake also offering him a smile, more of a forward apology for what was likely going to be a dismal display on his behalf too. Rubbing his hands together slightly, Finley tried not to think about the vision Naomi had had about their professor.

So far everything seemed okay...

Emilia was excited about the snow outside, but even more excited for her first class of the day. Defense Against the Dark Arts. Though, she didn't think she'd be near as excited if someone other than Professor Newbury was teaching, but she thought he was cute, so that gave the class an advantage. She pulled on her much too big robes, ran her brush through her hair, and began down the corridor. One day, she'd make an effort to look nice, but Mum always said it wasn't needed. Blue eyed girls with blonde hair automatically looked nice even if they looked horrible and she believed it.

The corridors were frigid, but not like it would be outside, which is sadly, where her next class took place. She swiftly walked to the classroom and upon entering, saw that Bennett boy who shared Houses with her and Finley. She gave them both a smile before turning to the professor. "Goodmorning Pro-, um Sir Jake." Her face turned bright red and she turned quickly, going to stand with the other students. It was weird to call him Jake and to her, it seemed impolite so she added Sir in front to make herself feel better. She wasn't trying to disrespect or disobey him, but he was an authority figure and he needed to be addressed by something other than his personal name.

The Defense Against the Dark Arts class scared Aristotle beyond reason. He had thought about the existence of dark magic, as any logical person had, but he didn't like it. He didn't like the fact that there were deathly curses and spells for wrongdoings. He figured, since this class was about defending oneself from such things, he ough to take it. Still, he wasn't the least bit excited about it. He walked up the stairs with his books under his arm, ready to arm himself against the evilness of magic.

When he arrived, the same people who were in most - if not all - of his classes were already there. He figured he had to at least learn their names. Slowly, cautiously, Aristotle walked towards them and stood by, keeping a distance between them and himself but still looking like he was part of whatever crowd they were.

Alberi wasn't really glad with the snow. He hated it, from a kid. He never played it in, mostly because he had no one with whom he could play. He can't make a snow ball and doesn't have an idea of how to make a snow man. What he saw of snow was only his shoes and sock getting soaked, him freezing to death and getting a runny nose from the cold.

Alberi walked to class, keeping his head low so it won't be seen. He walked into the next class and hoped that this time there won't be any animals there. Walking in, he noticed happily that there wasn't any animals. Just no tables and chairs. And some people inside. He walked near them but stood up on the wall, not wanting to interact with anyone. For multiple reason. He looked at the board and tried to remember what the spell was.

Naomi had used some free time between classes to make her way up to the Astronomy Tower to sketch the snow covered grounds of the school. She was excited by the beautiful landscape and had worked so hard to capture it that when she noticed the time, she had to hurry not to be late. Her nose was still pink with cold and her sketchbook was halfway out of her bag when she jogged into class.

"Good morning, Jake," Naomi greeted the professor happily. The lack of chairs and tables didn't bother her, although she knew Finley wouldn't be happy.

Naomi moved over to stand by her best friend greeting him with a smile. "Look at what I did between classes," she added proudly, pulling her sketchbook all the way out of her bag and flipping to her most recent sketches, one of the mountains in the distance, partially covered with trees and snow and the other of part of the forest.

Jake was quite nicely wrapped around her little finger, so DADA was always a fun class to go to, simply because she liked testing her boundaries and seeing what she could get away with. A lot, it seemed like so far, especially since that unfortunate incident with Finley during their first lesson. It still made her smile to think of it.

Entering class with a large smile, she noted the spell on the board and began to run through what she had read previously about it in preparation. It seemed like something that would definitely help her somehow, some way, so she was immediately interested in the lesson.

"Morning, Jake!" she greeted, tone light and cheerful, before moving to stand next to Finley and Naomi.

"And hello, Finn, hello Naomi!" She paused, then reached into her bag and removed two packets of a single chocolate frog. "Here, dad got me some and I saved one for each of you," she said. It was a lie; she had bought it purposely for them, but what they didn't know wouldn't hurt.

Ellie was determined to not be late again as she woke herself up early to the sound of people bustling. She used the lavatory to wash her face and brush her teeth, remembering to not drink orange juice and brushed her raucous hair out whilst wincing like crazy before pulling her hair back into a half-up, half-down arrangement with a pink bow from her mom to tie the small bun she made. This wasn’t again regulations, she thought worriedly before replacing the bow with a hair tie and getting dressed.

For breakfast she made sure it was something hearty while Phil gammed on about something Corie told her, all the while bouncing her knee nervously. She tried to calm herself down with tea and the reminder that her next class was with Caelan so everything would be fine. She wouldn’t be sitting alone and she wouldn’t be completely alone. With that in mind she gave her big brother a kiss on the cheek and then headed off to meet her other big brother in their next class, absentmindedly playing with the hem of her uniform sweater. Once she was in the classroom, she gave a polite nod to the professor as she waited for Caelan to arrive, tapping her foot all the while.

As expected, the class filled up quite quickly, for that much, Jake was grateful as he responded to each of the greetings with a 'hello' of his own. Some didn't speak, but he knew a lot of the kids were still building their confidence the best they could, and he wouldn't hold it against them.

"Good morning, everyone! Hopefully you're all warm enough, if you're not, let me know and I'll try to get it a little warmer in here for you all." Jake told them, and he meant it, he knew the castle got cold in the winter and he didn't want any of them to catch a cold. "Now, today we will be looking at the Smokescreen Spell, aside from the obvious, can anyone tell me anything about this spell? Anything at all, colour, incantation, etc?" He prompted, looking at the faces in the class for an answer.
