James had not been in the slightest bit happy about the lack of participation in his previous class, he'd had half a mind to put all of his students in detention for their lack of enthusiasm, only to remind himself that he would have to see the pitiful students more than he had already.

So, he decided to play ground hog day.

On the board was the potion he'd discussed the previous lesson, but he would skip the theory side. Instead, the board instructed that the students get on. James himself sat behind a copy of the Daily Prophet, throwing back the disinterest his students had shown him in the previous lesson. The students had better impress him this time, because James was not in the mood for idiocy.

Sebastian was not looking forward to going to Professor Balan's class. After the last lesson, where they'd gotten nowhere, he was quite sure the Potions Professor was not going to be in much of a good mood. Not that the man was ever in a good mood, but that was another thing all together.

Slipping in to the classroom, Sebastian noted the professor looked less interested than normal. Frowning to himself, the Ravenclaw took in the information on the board and was grateful that they could just get on with the lesson today.

Moving to the store cupboard, Sebastian quickly gathered the ingredients he would need before returning to his desk. Once there, he prepped the cauldron as was necessary and got on with the potion in silence. Working through the colours was the easy part of the potion, Sebastian matched the colours with those stated in the book and then moved on. He never looked up once through the whole process, afraid to see the professor had changed his mind, or the like, so he kept his head down in concentration.

It took Sebastian most of the lesson to make the potion, careful to add in the ingredients as per the instructions. By the time he'd finished, there was a thin sheen of sweat on his brow from the heat of the cauldron. Reaching up with the back of his hand, Sebastian wiped the sweat away, frowning at the potion as he finished.

It was stuck at orange and he didn't know what to do...

When the time for Potion's came up, Aiden had a half mind to actually skive the lesson as he knew that the Professor would be a foul mood because of the previous lesson, not that he could blame the man, after all they hadn't participated in the lesson as much as they should have.

Letting out a soft sigh, the Slytherin silently stepped into the classroom and just went to his desk where he proceeded to get his Potion's kit out before looking at the board where the Potion was written down. This lesson, he knew, would probably be the quietest one in the whole of his Hogwarts career. There had not been a day like this where you could actually feel James' annoyance with them for the previous lesson.

Grabbing his ingredients, Aiden slowly got to work, making sure to carefully prepare all the ingredients before he got to work on the actually potion.

Carefully doing as the instructions said, Aiden heated the ingredients and breathed a sigh of relief when the potion turned red and then green. Alright the first step was perfect.

Slowly as the time went by and Aiden went through each step the potion turned from green to pink to orange to green to blue to pink again to orange then blue then red and finally yellow.

After quite an exhausting lesson Aiden was finished with his potion.

Though looking at it with a slight frown he realized that the final color was a bit off though the sparks were released. Shrugging, the Slytherin bottled up his potion and moved down the classroom to place it on James' desk before walking back to clear off his own and wait for the lesson to end, truthfully, he really wanted to get out of here as quickly as he could.

Potions.

Amethyst sighed as she checked her schedule. As much as she loved the lesson, she didn't like the Professor. He was doom, cold and just didn't make her feel comfortable. His demeanor altogether was enough to keep Amethyst away from him. She didn't want any trouble.
But she had to attend nonetheless so she kept her head low as she made her way through the dark Dungeons and into the classrooms.

She was known for being late, but this time she wasn't. Or at least she thought she wasn't since the only students there were to boys. She didn't recognise either, but she wasn't sure it was the right time to get to know them. The Professor seemed to be in a very foul mood, and Amy just felt pressured already.

Moving in front of the cauldron, she looked up at the board, taking in all of the information. She had to make this potion, and she had to do it fast and effectively. She wanted to be out of here fast.

Gathering her ingredients, she took a deep breath in, and started working. While her ingredients were heating up, she had the time to pull her long hair up into a messy bun, just to keep it out of her face -and her potion-. She observed as her potion turned red, but it wasn't turning green. Amy started to worry and she looked around trying not to show how worried she was. But as she was about to ask for help, the potion finally turned green, making her blow a sigh of relief.

She then moved to the next step, adding Honeywater and watching it turn pink. The rest of the steps were done without any other surprises and Amy observed slowly as the potion kept changing colours, until it reached its finally form, a yellow color. The sparks followed too, and that made Amy exceptionally happy and relieved. She had done it!

James had remained sat behind his desk for the majority of the lesson, intent on getting through his paper and summarising his own thoughts on the current state of the Quidditch world. No, he didn't play, but he followed a team and liked to see them do well. He'd just folded his paper and laid it down when he noted the time.

With something of a smirk on his lips, James got to his feet, moving through the desks to look at the cauldrons of the students who had bothered to arrive.

The first, a Ravenclaw boy, was one that James only had to peer in to once. Letting out a small sigh of exasperation, James looked at the boy. "This is the best you could do?" He asked, shaking his head at the thought. "More heat, boy. You've failed. Please leave." He told the boy, moving to the next person with little and less enthusiasm.

The vial of the next student made James critique it closely. He gave one nod, however. "Good enough. You heated it through just a little too quickly, that's why it isn't the right colour. It almost curdled, but you seem to have saved it somehow. You may go." James told him, before turning to the Hufflepuff in the room.

Looking over the witch's cauldron, James gave a small, half smile. "Looks like one of my students might actually be competent then." He commented, as close as James got to praise really. "You may go too." He concluded, turning away from the witch to return to his desk.

Class Now Closed.
