With Christmas fast approaching, Jake was unsure where the year was going so quickly. It seemed only yesterday that the school year had started and now they were almost half way through it. Which meant exams were creeping up on the older students much quicker than he liked to admit.

Writing up the lesson for that day, Jake hoped the turn out would be higher than the previous lesson. The word Diminuendo was on the board for those who had done their reading they would know enough about the spell to aid them in the theory section of the class.

There were, as usual, no desks in Jake's room, the lesson would be of a practical nature which meant there would be no need for them. Now, he simply had to wait for the students to arrive so that they could begin the lesson.

Chanelle walked towards the DADA classroom, it was class what she have found be useful in future for her one day when facing with her enemies. So she knows how to defend herself in those situtions. She wasn't really girl who will go and use magic on someone but if neeed she will know how to do it and what to use.

She soon walked into the classroom and realized she was first student there what made her sigh. She didn't really want to be first one in classroom. "Hello," she said to professor and looked then a board and saw what was written there now. She went other side of room and did lean there against the wall. She same time thought what this spell could do and for what exactly it was used for her. She was sure that she have read about it somewhere from books in her free time but she couldn't remember it at the moment.

Heading towards Defence Against the Dark Arts, Sebastian was already hoping that Aiden would be there ahead of him. With Christmas coming up, Sebastian wanted to ask his friend if he was going home, and for how long. Of course, Sebastian would never be allowed to stay at school for Christmas Day, his mama would never allow it, but he could be here as much as he could otherwise.

Though, perhaps that was too keen?

Shaking his head once more as the Slytherin threatened to fill his mind, Sebastian slipped in to the Defence Against the Dark Arts' classroom, giving the professor a warm smile and moving to the side of the room to drop his bag off. There was already one other person here, someone from his house, but Sebastian didn't know the witch.

Looking to the board, where the lesson was almost always written, Sebastian took in the lesson for the day and frowned to himself, trying to remember the spell that it denoted and what it did.

Aaron was nervous. Yes he hadn't been around the first lessons out of fear, but he had to face the fire in order to advance, right? Palms sweating, he headed into the DADA classroom and was somewhat disappointed that there were no desks. Keeping his eyes to the floor, he pulled out his wand. He glanced up at the board and read the spell, having no clue what it did, or even the theory to it.

He had pointedly avoided eye-contact with, Professor Newbury, or Jake as he preferred. He had no idea what was to come after this. The small voice in the back of his head was telling him to at least acknowledge his presence. He pulled his eyes in Jake's direction and nodded a greeting. He dropped his eyes immediately after that. He still had a lot of thinking to do before he would be brought back to normal.

With only three students in the room, Jake couldn't deny it was a little disheartening, but he decided not to let that bother him now. Checking his watch to the clock in the room to make sure it wasn't fast, Jake decided to make a start. If people were late... well, he would have to deal with that when it happened.

"Okay everyone, we'll make a start. Can anybody tell me what the spell on the board does? You may have covered it before as it is quite a useful spell. Any information that is specific to the spell you can share with the class in case they haven't already studied this subject." Jake prompted, looking around the room for answers from the students before him.

"Bonus points if anyone can do a demonstration of the spell, as well. Lets change it up a bit today, shall we?" Jake added, a small smile touching his features.

Defense Against the Dark Arts. Amethyst wasn not practically fond of the lesson, but still enjoyed it far more than others. Herbology for example. Despisable lesson. Though DADA had something more to it. Amethyst couldn't name it, but she liked it.

Also, the Professor teaching the lesson was Jake Newbury. The Professor who actually spent sometime to help her overcome her fear of flying and teach her everything from the start. The least she could do to thank him -even though he never asked for something- was to attend his classes and participate as much as she could. She had to prove her knowledge.

Most people confused Hufflepuffs for the shy, idiotic children. No. Hufflepuffs were smart, hard working and patient.
They could achieve great things, and Amethyst was sure she belonged in that category.

Slipping into class quietly she moved towards the left side of the classroom just as the Professor was asking a question,

"Okay everyone, we'll make a start. Can anybody tell me what the spell on the board does? You may have covered it before as it is quite a useful spell. Any information that is specific to the spell you can share with the class in case they haven't already studied this subject."

"It is a charm that causes objects to shrink," said Amethyst abruptly. But then she realised she had to cast the spell as well. "I can cast the spell as well, if you'd like?"

Jake waited patiently for an answer, and when it came from Amethyst, he gave the witch a warm smile, nodding his head at the answer she had given to him. "Right you are, Amethyst!" Jake replied to the witch, taking out his own wand ready to give the class a demonstration.

When the witch offered to show the class too, Jake smiled in her direction. "Very well, choose an object, and cast the spell. Make sure you aim clear of your peers, I wouldn't want to have to take anyone to the hospital wing." Jake added, though he was quite sure the witch was not foolish enough to do such a thing.

"Everyone please watch Amethyst closely, as I will be expecting all of you to have a go in a moment." Jake added, making sure the Hufflepuff had the attention of the whole room before she began her demonstration.

Class Now Closed.

House Points
Amethyst Vine = 10 points for attendance + 5 points for answer = 15 points.
Aaron Tate = 10 points for attendance
Chanelle Young = 10 points for attendance
Sebastian Aquila = 10 points for attendance

TOTAL:
Gryffindor: 0
Hufflepuff: 15
Ravenclaw: 30
Slytherin: 0
