Lesson 2: Flobberworms (All Years) Empty

Aimee wore a winter coat over her and the young infant strapped to her chest. Like usual, the infant was fast asleep as the woman waited on the outskirts of the forest. At her feet, was a box that carried several rather small Flobberworms. The box kept them in the dark, which happened to be their ideal conditions. The woman also had a bag which held lettuce, pens and small journals.

After her last lesson being indoors, it was nice to be back outdoors, even if it was extremely cold. The snowfall had recently stopped, leaving a thick blanket of fresh white snow covering the grounds. Only her footprints could be seen at the moment. The sun hid behind the clouds and through the dull, white day Aimee could see the first signs of her students.

As they slowly trickled up, she smiled and greeted them, patiently awaiting the time for class to start.

Although Herbology would always hold a special place in her heart, Naomi enjoyed Care of Magical Creatures, and was happy when she woke up and remembered that they had a lesson that day.

After breakfast, Naomi and Finley made their way through the new snow to the edge of the Forest for CoMC, a nice return after their indoor class. Naomi vastly preferred the Forest to a classroom any day. As they approached, she tried to guess what was in the box at the professor's feet, but there were too many possibilities, so she gave up. Instead, she greeted Professor Valentine and smiled at her young child. The baby was so cute snuggled up to her mother in the coat.

Deciding that waiting around doing nothing was boring, Naomi flopped to the ground and began making a snow angel. When she finished one, she got up, giggling, and immediately flopped in the opposite direction to make another. "I love the snow," she told Finley from the ground.

Finley was glad to be back outside for one of his favourite lessons, even if that did mean battling with the snow covered landscape that was now their school. Following Naomi along to the class, Finley bounced from footprint to footprint that his best friend left before him, a smile on his face as the count down to Christmas began.

As they approached the clearing, Finley noted the baby with Professor Valentine once more and gave the older witch a small smile. Babies weren't something Finley had a lot of experience with, so he wasn't sure how he felt about them, truth be told, but that was neither here nor there at the moment.

His attention was caught, however, by the falling of his best friend in to the snow. Worried she was having another vision, Finley quickly turned to see if she was okay, only to see her giggling as she made a snow angel. Sheepishly looking towards the professor, Finley shook his head at Naomi. "You're g-going to be cold f-for the rest of the l-lesson!" Finley insisted, hoping the professor wasn't going to deduct points for Naomi's antics, Ravenclaw were doing so well!

Heading down through the snow to Care of Magical Creatures was not something that Sebastian was overly fond of. He'd wrapped himself up in his house scarf, adorned a blue hat and borrowed some gloves for the lesson, but still his nose was red from the cold. He was, in truth, not a lover of winter, and thus he was more than a little disgruntled to be outside that day.

Taking the last few steps towards the class, Sebastian didn't bother to pay pleasantries to the professor, instead watching the girl on the floor who thought it beneficial to make snow angels. Honestly, what was the witch thinking?

Rubbing his arms a little to keep warm, Sebastian hoped the class would start soon, or he was going to freeze to death, he was sure of it. Yes, faced with the cold, Sebastian turned in to something of a drama queen.

Bennett had always figured Care of Magical Creatures would provide skills and knowledge needed later on, but he hadn't expected to have to walk down to the forest every time they had a lesson. Morever, he was worried that the class would be weird now that Professor Valentine had a kid. A kid which she obviously brought to the lesson, Bennett could see as he walked down the little excuse for a hill that lead to the outskirts of the forest. "Are you kidding, woman?" He whispered to himself as he walked down, the tiny figure strapped to the woman's body even more recognizable now. Merlin, what was wrong with her?! Literally, millinons of things could happen in the Forbidden Forest - or even near it - and she was just strapping the kid to her chest and walking around like she was at Disneyland. Stupid. Still, Bennett didn't say anything but kept his judgments to himself. After all, he was sure that Valentine wasn't going to pass him if he told her she was dumb for taking her tiny baby to a possibly dangerous area of the school.

Actually, now that he was thinking about it, why didn't she just get a two-year leave? Mothers were supposed to be with the kids, to help for emotional and physical development and all that, and if Valentine had to put her child in danger then maybe her job was a little too risky now. The only reason Bennett knew about children and newborns was because Bennett read everything. Though he kept all of his thoughts to himself, Bennett's brow furrowed when he came face-to-face with the blonde professor. He just really wanted to tell her how dangerous it was, but it wasn't his place to tell her so. Worse yet, when Bennett's brown eyes lowered to the floor, they met a box full of hideous animals; the flobberworms. Shuddering at the thought of those nasty things, Bennett tried to play it off as being cold and tightened his coat around him. It seemed he had arrived at the perfect time, however, as his eyes shortly traveled from the box to the girl Finley was with.

She was making snow angels, a genuine smile on her lips. Unable to judge the professor again, Bennett smiled at how innocent that scene looked.

Lesson 2: Flobberworms (All Years) Empty

With Christmas coming up, Nirek felt a little out of sorts. His family followed the Hindu religion - he himself was not strict on the religion, but his parents were. This meant that whilst the whole school got excited for the celebrations, Nirek simply watched on with little and less interest. Presents would be nice, but his friends thought it would be rude to buy him some.

Stepping through the snow for the day's class, Nirek wondered which of his fellow students would be there. P-poor s-stuttering Finley would be there, of course, which meant his little girlfriend would be following him around. Madison... well, he wasn't too sure if the Slytherin would be there, but he hoped now. But, more recently, Nirek hoped that Caramarienne would be there. The little French witch understood him, he believed, and thus she was a welcome break from the others around school.

As Nirek arrived at the meeting point for the class, it seemed only the first two would be there. Rolling his eyes at the stupidity of Finley's girlfriend, Nirek stood opposite the Ravenclaw boy, eyes narrowed a little to show he meant business, before he turned to the professor. "Morning." The Gryffindor greeted the witch, waiting for the lesson to begin.

Travis had only kept Care of Magical Creatures on his timetable because the professor was a bit of eye candy. True, he had absolutely no chance with the witch, he was aware of that. But Travis didn't mind listening to a beautiful witch for an hour if he'd pulled himself out of bed for a lesson.

With snow on the ground, Travis hadn't bothered to go for his morning run, it would be much too strenuous first thing in the morning. So, he'd allowed himself a warm shower, changed in to his uniform and made sure his hair looked impeccable.

It wouldn't hurt to impress, after all.

Stepping in to the grounds, Travis followed the students towards the meeting place for Care of Magical Creatures. Most of the class was the younger years, but Travis wasn't bothered. "Morning, professor!" He greeted the witch at the front of the class. She had her baby with her again, but that didn't put Travis off.

Lux made a leisurely trek to the forest, grumbling at the thought of attending a class she didn't particularly enjoy. The only thing that got her through care of magical creatures classes were thoughts of what she could do to torture the animals and imagining how they would react. Now, if they were allowed to do that, the class would be that much more interesting.

At she approached the groups she could see already gathered, Lux spotted a figure wiggling around on the ground. Snow angels? Seriously? And at the beginning of class? Sometimes she really did wonder if some people had peas for brains. Oh sure, there was nothing wrong with making snow angels, though she preferred the counter part of snow devils, but they were for kids to play with and if one simply had to make them, it should be done without a gathering of peers. That would be just weird.

Giving a nod to the professor and ignoring the rest of the students, Lux spotted a box of something on the ground. Hmm. Something small enough to be kept in a box and something needed to be kept in a box. Too lazy to do any guessing or thinking, Lux stood behind the group of people and waited for the lesson to commence.
