The News (Circe & James) Empty
PostSubject: The News (Circe & James)   The News (Circe & James) EmptyWed Dec 14, 2016 7:12 pm

James was sat back in the sofa in a pair of sweatpants, Playstation controller in hand, concentrating on his game - the latest edition of Grand Theft Auto which James simply used as an excuse to steal a multitude of fast cars, and hook up with the game's version of hot women. Eros was being boring chasing around after his new fancy - some girl that Eros had not even divulged the name of, let alone any of the juicier details. This had meant that lad time had been reduced to only himself, which was a bummer, but still, it could be worse.

Circe had gone to see her brother, or friends (James couldn't really remember what she'd said) for the day, but it was nearing the time she would be back. James hadn't really moved from the moment she'd left, and now that he thought about it, he was rather hungry...

Shrugging a little bit to himself, James turned back to the welcome break of the game.

It had been seven months since Circe and he had decided to try for a baby, and as of yet, Circe had not mentioned that she felt any different in herself. James didn't really know what he wanted more, truth be told. Would this taking longer be better because it would give them more time? Or would the longer this took mean that stress only began to mount?

Honestly, he'd avoided all talk of children since the point of telling Circe he didn't want her to take the potion anymore. He liked it that way.

But, he knew deep down that this was going to end up only one way.

Turning left in the game, James took his player in to the strip club. Anything to get his mind off of real life at the moment was welcome. Even animated versions of women working a pole.

The News (Circe & James) Empty
PostSubject: Re: The News (Circe & James)   The News (Circe & James) EmptySun Dec 18, 2016 12:52 pm

It had been a while since James had stopped making her a contraceptive potion.
Seven months to be exact, and surely, there had been a lot of action since then. Circe had not believed him when he simply didn't want her to take the potion anymore. James was a mysterious man, and she knew that this - a girlfriend and children- had not been something he was actually planning for quite some time. After the little talk they had during their vacation, Circe knew that he still wasn't comfortable enough with her. There were enormous steps for him, but he had to understand that she was being affected to. Being a mother was a big step for her as well. Tying herself down to a man who still wasn't sure whether he was ready for this or not. But she loved James, she had grown to accept him as he were. A bit moody, yes, and there was a list of negative aspects she could add here, but he was also charming and loving. Even if he didn't show it the way other males did, James cared. Hell, he loved her, even if he didn't say so. And that was what Circe adored about him. He was different. He was everything for her.

But there had been the incident that actually brought them together. The incident where she was -probably- pregnant, and she had lost the baby. James might have believed that she was playing him, lying in order to get him to love only her. But Circe had not lied, not for a second. And she was scared. The scars had healed, and they had moved forward, but it still pained her to know that a little life was lost. But she also remembered the damage that almost destroyed whatever little she had with James.

So when her period was suddenly late again, Circe did not speak a word. She would not go through the same thing twice, because she just knew that if something like that happened again, James would not stay. One thing James could not accept was him being played, and Circe was not going to let him think something like that. Instead, she had informed James that she would go out and visit her brother, see how business were going and catch up, when in truth, she would be going to St. Mungo's, in order to find out whether her assumptions were true. Find out if she was really pregnant.

She was nervous, scared even. The trip to the Hospital was silent, her mind reeling with whats and ifs. Say she was pregnant, how was she going to tell James? The voice in her head kept reminding her that things were not as bad though, since it had been his choice to stop her from taking the potion. He wanted this. Or well, he wanted to try this. But now there was a possibility their attempts had succeeded. What if he decided he just didn't want it? Or worse, what if she lost it again?

"I'm getting a headache.." The Witch murmured to herself just as soon as she arrived to the Hospital. Taking a deep breath, Circe walked inside, and well, hell got loose.

***

Unlocking the door, Circe walked inside their apartment, leaving her keys on the table and hanging her jacket. Her eyes landed on James, who was playing another one of these video games. Circe could not see how he could find fun a game like this. She noted how that animated man was in a strip club, and she rolled her eyes. James would simply never change.

"I am home." Circe was stating the obvious, she knew, but maybe that would be enough for James to understand that he could now turn off that thing and keep the strip clubs away from her.

Taking of her shoes, Circe walked over to the kitchen and opened the fridge in order to make something. The doctors had given her strict orders about what she should do. Because yes, Circe had a life growing inside of her, and she was going to make sure it stayed healthy. And safe.

"Babe, we need to talk."
Bad start, Circe, the voice in her head told her and Circe sighed. Her intro sounded so bad and Circe knew James would know something was going on instantly. But what else could she say?
"We are having Roast chicken with roast potatoes, broccoli and carrots today, by the way. Mind if you join me here?"

Well, she tried to cover it up as much as she could, but the talk was going to take place right about now. And she still was not ready to tell him about the baby. Oh Merlin, she was doomed.

James had - rather subconsciously - heard the door open, and Circe put down her keys. Many a man might have turned their head to their partner's entrance to the home, but James was playing his games. His eyes didn't flicker from the TV screen. A smirk touched his lips as his player slid some dollar bills in to the stripper's pants on screen. Oh to be able to do that again...

"I am home."

James looked up then, giving Circe a small smile before his attention turned back to the screen. James, at least, had the decency to make the player in the game head out towards the door. "Hey." James replied casually to those words, hitting the Start button and selecting the 'Save' button. James didn't turn it off, though, simply leaving the game on the pause menu for now.

"How was Miles?" James asked conversationally as Circe took off her shoes. Merlin knew James still didn't like Circe's brother very much - they'd gotten off on the wrong foot, and James was much too proud a man to admit to being wrong - about anything. However, Miles was Circe's brother, so he had to be civilised, in the least.

But, Circe's next words threw a spanner in the works, and James couldn't help but frown, and tense. Talk? That could never be a good sign... For a moment, the Potions master thought about returning to his game, pretending he hadn't heard...

The talk of food made James come back to Circe's words, though. He considered the option for a moment before nodding. "Sounds good to me. But make sure you do the potatoes how Ma- Mum does them." James replied, he had shown Circe before, because potatoes had to be really crispy if you roasted them, anything less was simply not going to be enough for James. But the beckoning to the kitchen... James let out a sigh, before pushing himself up from the sofa and making his way to the kitchen.

Leaning on the centre counter of the kitchen, James raised an eyebrow at her. "What do you want?" James asked, not harshly, but the question was firm enough to make it known he didn't want to play around.

"How was Miles?"

The question went unanswered by Circe, who acted as if she had not heard it. She knew well enough that James did not like Miles, and the feelings were actually mutual. Since the day Circe had spoken to Miles about who James was and about their relationship, her brother had tried multiple times to persuade her out of this. Kept telling her what an ass James was, and how much better she could do. How much better she deserved. But no one knew James like she did, so Miles gave up after so many times his plans had failed. Now, he was simply trying not pick up a fight.

Thankfully, James didn't comment on that at all, and instead started giving orders. Circe had to roll her eyes as he spoke about the potatoes and how his mom made them. Of course, she had met the woman, and she was so loving but Circe was not her and she hated that he kept comparing her to his mother. He was his girlfriend, for Merlin's sake! But all she could do was make the potatoes just like he had showed her, since his whining was much worse.

But as she heard him get up and move towards the kitchen, Circe felt more anxious than ever. She knew James had caught up to the fact that something was not okay, and her thoughts were confirmed when he leaned over the counter and spoke firmly.

"What do you want?"

"You could have asked a bit nicer, you know. It wouldn't hurt if you tried."

Wiping her hands on a napkin, Circe turned around to face James, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves. She had practiced her speech again and again in her head, but the moment she was about to start speaking, the words would simply won't come out.
"Uh, I... didn't go see Miles."
One lie was out of the way. Now there was the next sentence.
"I went to St. Mungo's."

James would probably get a hint of what she wanted to say, but just to make sure he knew the full story, she raised a hand to stop him from speaking -just in case- and continued her talk.
"My period was late, but I didn't want to say anything until I was absolutely sure about anything. I really didn't want to go through what we've been through already. So I went to the Hospital to see a doctor."

A small hesitant smile touched the witch's lips.
"James, I am with child."

At the admonishment for not being impeccably polite, James gave a small, grimaced smile in response. "What would you like, baby?" James corrected, though his tone was much too sarcastic to be anything less than a way to wind Circe up. James did not take well to being told off, especially not by Circe. But, he didn't make a big thing out of it.

The admission that she had not gone to see Miles made James' eyebrow quirk. A hundred and one things ran through James' mind. Was she cheating on him? Was Circe truly going to think that making him dinner was going to resolve such a catastrophic no, no in their relationship? James was bristling - for all the wrong reasons - in that moment.

"I went to St. Mungo's."

James' mind stopped, but the tension in his shoulders remained in that moment. His eyes focused on Circe. Worry. That's what hit the Potions Professor, and it was quite obvious. The feelings James had for Circe were never clearer than when the deeper emotions cracked through. Worry was cracking through that wall, because going to St. Mungo's could not have been a good thing...

Circe's next couple of sentences didn't register, his mind closed off because it didn't want to hear the bad thing that was about to come out of Circe's mouth. He didn't know how he could possibly deal with a sick Circe. How could he possibly care for someone...

"James, I am with child."

James' eyes went wide at that. Everything he'd been thinking... It... Shock was the only feeling that could register in that moment. He was shocked. Yes, they weren't using protection, but James hadn't thought about the actual fact there would come a point that Circe would fall pregnant. That had always seemed so far away.

And emotions were running high, free to show themselves with James in that moment. The prickle of tears made itself known in that moment, they were forming, but not falling. "Y-you're pregnant?" James asked, moving to Circe carefully, his hand reaching to touch her chin, bring her eyes up to his. "We're... having a baby?" James asked, the hesitation obvious because he was trying to control his emotions. But his tone was thick with it.

Happiness. Joy. Hesitation in a small degree.

But it was undeniable that James Balan was... happy.

As James' eyes widened, Circe felt kind of scared. Truth be told, she had no idea if that were a good sign or not. It had been his choice to stop her from taking the contraceptive potion, so that must mean that he wanted this. He wanted the child. But this was James, and one choice could mean another billion things. Maybe his choice of not making the potion anymore, meant that he truly wanted to try this  with her, but not actually have a baby. Her thought were driving Circe mad, and she looked away for a little bit, scared to meet his eyes.

"Y-you're pregnant?"

Circe's eyes were back on James at that moment. She gave him a small nodded, for no actual reason, since the question was purely rhetorical.  But the more she was looking at James, the more her thoughts were put at ease. James wasn't angry, or confused or anything. He was not closing up on her, and he was not going to run away. His eyes told her very much so, and the tears that started to form in her eyes didn't take much time to start running down her cheeks.

"We're... having a baby?"

Circe leaned into his touch, taking comfort from him. Truthfully, she had not expected such a reaction from James, but even the coldest of people had feelings. James might come off very strong and emotionless, which he sometimes was, but he was still human. With a very beautiful soul, even if it took a lot of time to understand what he was hiding beneath all that hotness.

"Yes, my love. We are.."

Circe threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly. He was her man. She loved him, more than herself. And they were ready to create a family of their own.

The nod to his question was not enough for James. He needed verbal confirmation of all of this, because Merlin knew this was not something you could simply assume.

Circe moved in to his touch, though, when he moved closer, making sure that he would get the information he needed from her. And, as she confirmed in a verbal manner, James allowed a small, happy laugh to leave his lips. The smile took pride of place on his face a few moments later, and as Circe threw herself in to his arms, James wrapped his arms around her and pressed a kiss to the top of her head.

"Well done, baby." James murmured in to her hair, resting his head on hers and simply holding his girlfriend close. James wasn't sure what else you said in these situations, but Merlin was the potions master happy with this news.

A baby... their baby, was on it's way.
