Koda was born on January 4th in Moscow Russia. He never really knew his mother as she died in child birth, and his father never let him forget it. He never really knew what love was as he was shut out by his father, his only living relative. His father did something for the Russian government, Koda was never sure what it was, but that he wasn't around, and that he didn't love Koda because he killed his mother. Koda was mainly raised by nannies. Even though Koda wasn't loved by his father, he still had everything he needed and more, because of his father's mysterious government job that paid really well. In the end, his favorite nanny, Anna ended up adopting him when he turned 11 and took him to London. His father paid her with a lot of money, but she still showed him the same amount of love as if he was her own child.
But, Anna didn't get to keep him long, as when he moved to London, much to her surprise, he got accepted into Hogwarts School of Witch Craft and Wizardry. Anna was hired through a wizarding Nanny company, so she already knew of Koda's magical abilities that he showed at a young age, as she was able to see the signs herself. She sent Koda to Hogwarts, much to his dismay. He was just getting used to having a mother, and now she was wanting to send him away.
Koda had a rough first year. He rebelled a lot, and didn't make many friends. By the time he was 16 he had already slept around a lot, and didn't know the meaning of the word "love." Surprisingly enough, he did rather well in school, so Anna didn't have to worry about that very much, just if she was going to be a grandmother any time soon.
Anna tried her best with a teenaged son who had never experienced love before. It was when Anna found love herself, Koda really hit rock bottom. The summer between his 5th and 6th year, Koda ran back to Russia to find his father. Anna wasn't sure what he was looking for, but one month later, Koda came back. He had found out that his father had died. Anna tried consoling him, but it was no use. Coming back to the person who was supposed to pay attention to him and only him, and finding out that her love was pointed else where, threw him over the edge. Now, Koda doesn't know what love is or what to think about it. He is still very distant from Anna, but he's trying to figure out what life is, even if he has to figure it out by himself.

Koda was born to Karina and Viktor Popov, a high status pureblooded family in the wizarding and muggle community. They were well respected, and very, very rich. Even when Karina was alive, it was a mystery as to what Viktor's actual occupation was. Just that he worked for the Russian Government and was often gone for long periods of time.
Viktor lived in Russia, and Karina lived in France. Often over the summer, Karina would go and visit her Uncle who lived in Russia, next to Viktor's home. The two met when they were just six years old. Karina was a very adventurous child and got Viktor to do things he wouldn't normally do, like climb a tree, and swim in the creek behind her uncles house. Because Karina had more of a spirited mind, Viktor's parents weren't really fond of her. But their love continued on even when Karina was sent to Beauxbatons and encouraged to look elsewhere for true love, and Viktor was sent to Durmstrang and told the same thing.
The two didn't care about what their parents thought. When they both graduated, Viktor and Karina were already engaged, and planned to be married that next year. Things changed when they found out they were expecting a baby boy. It was very rare that Karina would be able to conceive because she had a heart condition that made it difficult to undergo a thing as strong as giving birth. As predicted, Karina died giving birth to baby Koda Popov, who was later adopted to Anna Whitley.
