When Prim went on that date with Taylor, she hadn't actually thought she would have as much fun as she did. The older Slytherin was a riot to be with as his dry and quirky humour just kept her amused all the time they were walking around Hogsmeade, holding hands and looking like a couple for everyone there.

At the end of the date, when Taylor escorted her to the castle, she surprised the older boy with a thorough snog which earned her a very fun reaction from the Slytherin but before it could've gone further, she danced away from the boy, her twinkling laugh pretty loud as she saw the put out look on Taylor's face and the way he discreetly adjusted himself as if that would save him from the embarrassment.

Prim was fairly smug at seeing a boy get a reaction like that and she made it in the way that she swayed her hips as she walked away, an amused twinkle in her eyes. The day certainly proved interesting and with that she started her trek through the grounds, not feeling the cold biting into her skin at all as she was kept warm with the amount of warming charms she had on them.

PostSubject: Re: Of Misunderstandings and Stupid Feelings (Prim and Max)   Of Misunderstandings and Stupid Feelings (Prim and Max) EmptyMon Feb 27, 2017 1:43 pm

Valentine's Day had come around with nothing in the way of love letters or presents for Max. It had been a normal start as he went down to the forest to see Buckle with some food, and as Max ate his own breakfast, he spoke excitedly of how he was going to spend the day with Prim and Elyah roaming around Hogsmeade. He told Buckle how he was going to make sure to stop at the sweet shop and buy Elyah and Prim a small box of chocolates each so that both of them got at least one Valentine's gift and therefore couldn't grow upset about the day. Of course, Max's plan had not actually been discussed with either witch's involved. As all of them were single he'd assumed they would all be free.

His first mistake had to be assume, as on the way up to the castle he'd met Elyah who'd explained she was meeting with her dad, but they could meet up later. With a heavy heart, Max had agreed and moved up to the Gryffindor Tower. He'd showered and changed in to some clean clothes, before coming back in to the Common Room. When one of the girls from Prim's dorm came down, Max asked if Prim was still there. Her response was to laugh, quite openly, at him, and to tell him that Prim was long gone.

Frowning at that, Max asked her again to make sure, and... perhaps a look of sympathy had touched her features as she explained (slowly) that Prim had already left and that she wouldn't be back until later.

Max didn't understand the hidden message in those words, truthfully. And had gone back down to follow the stragglers in to Hogsmeade. Max didn't mind being on his own, but he really had thought his two closest friends would have told him they wouldn't be going with him this time.

Max had filled his time easily, though, getting the sweets from Honeydukes for both girls to start with. Then he perused the joke shop, but didn't buy anything. The boy refilled his supplies of animal treats, before heading to something of a hardware store. He was planning on making a hut, or maybe a treehouse in the forest so that he could leave some stuff down there for the animals so he didn't have to log it there himself. The man was useful, getting Max the supplies he needed to begin with and shrinking the planks in to Max's bag so he could carry them.

Max had been heading back in to the grounds rather late, humming to himself and not completely concentrating. That was until his eye caught sight of a familiar colour hair. Max's eyes met Prim in a moment, a smile touching his lips for the briefest of moments whilst his head filled in the rest of the scene.

Prim was snogging someone.

Not someone. Taylor Wilkes.

Max didn't usually get involved with gossip, but everyone knew Taylor and his reputation. Max's chest began to hurt for some reason, and his hand moved to tub at the sensation. His eyes then noticed her clothing... His head couldn't keep up with this...

Had Prim only kissed him out of pity..? Was she... collecting kisses? Didn't their kiss mean anything..? Max's head was muddling itself up. He knew they weren't ever going to date. They were just friends. But he couldn't help feeling... strangely... upset in what he was seeing.

And it was bubbling. The sting of tears, that were most uncharacteristic of Max were growing. His lower lip wobbling as he turned from the castle and towards the forest, setting off at a run to try to get away from the thoughts in his head.

Max hadn't resurfaced in to the school for two nights. The forest had a lake for water, and there was enough food in the trees. He'd managed to get by. He'd washed in the lake too, but he was not ready to go back up to the school. He'd managed the base of his tree house in between bouts of emotion.

That was working for the boy, until on the third evening, a storm broke out above the school, rain hard enough to seep through the canopy of the forest. Max's clothes were sodden within a few minutes but he was adamant he wasn't going to go back in to the school. Not until he could get his head around the situation.

When Prim got back to the Common Room that night, she was accosted by one of her fellow roommates who questioned her on her date with Taylor before one of the other girls pulled her aside and softly told her about Max asking around for her only to end up looking shocked and hurt when he had been told that she had already gone.

Something in Prim's chest tightened and she could feel the pain that bloomed there and the frown that was on the brunette's face made the girl opposite her feel sorry for telling Prim that but Prim had been thankful and instead she sat in the Common Room and waited for Max, hoping the boy would join her and that she could finally give him his chocolates that she had procured from Honeydukes as a thank you and a gift from one friend to another.

But when he didn't arrive that night or the night after that Prim got naturally worried and was quick to start asking around whether someone knew where Max was, she even braved talking to Elyah but the other girl didn't know either and that just made Prim worry.

When the storm hit the third night, the Gryffindor was ready to rip her hair out before she remembered something from one of the older Gryffindor's who said you could use the locator charm, even at Hogwarts to find someone.

Suddenly feeling better, the brunette got dressed in some warm clothes, asked one of the boys from Max's dorm to procure some clothes for her friend in a bag before she stood outside of the common room and, holding her wand on her palm, she spoke the incantation.

"Point Me, Maximillian Hollingberry."

The spell did work and she followed the way the wand was pointing but as she finally got down the stairs to the Entrance Hall she suddenly felt terrified for Max. What if he was in the Dark Forest? Her friend was going to give her a heart attack, she was sure of that but she would hyperventilate when she had Max back in the castle, for now she focused on finding her friend.

Taking a deep breath, she braved the stormy weather and made her way through the courtyard and towards the Black Lake before she turned towards the Dark Forest, her whole body shivering and her knee pretty much wailing in pain as it was hit with so much cold without any protection on it.

"Max?!" She called out, her eyes frantically searching the trees as she stepped into the forest, the shiver that made it's way up her spine made her feel frantic. "Max where are you?!" The girl continued on in that manner for a while, just aimlessly walking through the Forbidden Forest trying to find her best friend who was slwoly becoming like a brother to her.

PostSubject: Re: Of Misunderstandings and Stupid Feelings (Prim and Max)   Of Misunderstandings and Stupid Feelings (Prim and Max) EmptyMon Feb 27, 2017 7:10 pm

As the rain grew heavier, Max sat huddled against the tree, simply watching the rain fall as it soaked him through. Even Max's somewhat backward's mind knew this was stupid, but his pride would not take being the one to give in to this. He was a Gryffindor, after all, and the lion was the proudest animal of them all.

However, as a clap of lightning sounded, Max squeaked a little and hunched closer to the tree trunk for shelter. Perhaps not the most safe place in the world, but Max was here now, he would see this out.

Except...

The storm seemed to be carrying Prim's voice... Frowning, Max strained his ears, listening out intently for her voice again. It was a few seconds before he heard his name, and the boy moved from the sitting position he'd created to laying flat o the planks so he could see below. It was a few more minutes before Prim came in to view, and Max withdrew himself from view for a few moments, trying to decide whether or not he should show himself.

If she was here... It means you matter, idiot. His head finished for him, sarcastically biting the words out as Max rolled over to face his bag. Opening it slightly, He could see the two boxes of chocolate he hadn't been able to deliver, and it fastened his resolve. Doing the bag up, Max leaned back over the edge enough to see Prim. "Up here." Max told her, but he was already moving to get down to the ground with some nimble climbing, his bag on his back. Landing on the floor, Max wiped his hair out of his eyes, and blinked as the water continued to pound down around them.

"What are you doing here?" He called above the noise of the storm, because... he still couldn't work it out. Now he was face to face with the witch, he could only see her with her lips pinned to Taylor Wilkes', and the bubbling hurt was brewing again.

PostSubject: Re: Of Misunderstandings and Stupid Feelings (Prim and Max)   Of Misunderstandings and Stupid Feelings (Prim and Max) EmptyMon Feb 27, 2017 7:30 pm

When Prim heard the unmistakable voice of Max and felt his very familiar magical signature, the brunette female breathed a sigh of relief and she could actually feel her shoulder's slumping from their tenseness, her blue/grey eyes staring at the canopy above her where her friend had been hiding it seemed.

The raging storm didn't bother her nor did the lighting or thunder as it omniously sounded above them, all she cared about was to get her friend out of this fucking weather and into the castle where she could literally beat some fucking sense into him.

However when he asked her why she was there, all of that left her mind and she exploded on him there and then. "What... am I doing here?" The questioned was whispered calmly, dangerously, as the brunette's eyes burned something fierce as she glared at her friend, her worry shining in those orbs but her anger and fury were more prominent. "You... DO YOU FUCKING KNOW HOW WORRIED I WAS YOU DUMB IDIOT?!" She screeched at the top of her voice, her eyes already stinging, showcasing that soon tears would fall.

"I FUCKING WAITED UP FOR YOU ON VALENTINE'S DAY, HOPING YOU WOULD COME BACK BUT YOU DIDN'T. AND YOU DIDN'T COME BACK THE NIGHT AFTER THAT. AND NOW YOU ARE FUCKING ASKING ME WHAT AM I DOING HERE?!" The girl was pretty much freaked out of her mind at Max's callous words, questioning her why she was there.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself down lest she do something stupid like punch him in the face. "I'm here because I was worried for you. For the past two fucking days I barely slept and worried myself sick wondering where you are. I was worried, wondering if my friend, my brother, finally did something fucking stupid and got himself killed or worse, horribly injured, by going into the Forbidden Forest." The words were whispered coldly, harshly, but it would've been better had they been shouted at Max as everyone knew that a deathly calm Prim was either a dangerously calm Prim or a hurt Prim and on this occasion, it was both.

She was both dangerously calm but also hurt beyond belief that Max would do something stupid like this and the girl couldn't help but grit her teeth together as she stared at Max with tears streaking down her cheeks.

PostSubject: Re: Of Misunderstandings and Stupid Feelings (Prim and Max)   Of Misunderstandings and Stupid Feelings (Prim and Max) EmptyMon Feb 27, 2017 7:51 pm

The echoed question made Max nod his head. He'd never seen Prim mad before, so he was going to be a minimum of one step behind with all of this the moment it started. Which put Max at much more of a disadvantage than normal. But as the witched screeched at him, Max took a step back, backing in to the tree and looking more than a little scared of Prim in this moment.

He could see the tears in her eyes, and instantly his chest ached with the sorrow of having done that. His eyes fell from hers, feeling the bubble of emotion rising in him again. He didn't want to get upset... not now, but the two words that had stuck like knives had been the last two she'd said to him. The words that would stick with him for much longer than Primrose would likely have meant them to.

But she didn't finish, and Max's body language had gone in to fully submissive signs. Curling away from her slightly, not meeting her eyes. Max didn't need to look to know what he'd done. Didn't need to hear to know that he'd done something very wrong. The boy did nothing to respond to her either, which probably did not help his cause, but he was trying to clear his head. Clear those words from it...

And then Prim's voice changed again, and Max's eyes lifted slightly to see the tears falling from her eyes. As she explained that he'd made her worry sick for the past two days. How she'd thought him dead, or even injured. The tears were following suit on Max's cheeks in that moment, his hands fiddling absently with the straps on his bag. Max's jaw set once, twice, three times, and relaxed. His eyes would not stay on Prim for longer than two seconds before they moved away.

"I saw you kissing Taylor." Max replied to all of that. It wasn't an accusation, it wasn't angry. It was actually quite soft, emotional, and verging on a question. Prim might not owe him an explanation as to why she had done it, but she might be able to explain his feelings to him. "I..." Max hesitated, pulling off his rucksack and opening the lid. But he stopped, shook his head and put the bag back on instead.

"That's... why I came here." Max finished, though it didn't explain half of what he'd been doing. It explained the immediate reasons to his actions. Even if they didn't make any sense.

Prim felt herself shake in fear as the images of what could've happened to Max assulted her head, making her feel even more downtrodden and upset. The brunette witch was biting her lower lip so harshly that she unknowingly bit through the skin though the moment the coppery taste of blood invaded her taste buds she scrunched her nose up and gingerly pressed a finger to the bleeding lip, wincing as it stung when her cold and wet hand touched it.

At the mention of just why Max was in the Forest made Prim feel even worse; to know that she was the reason to make her friend, her brother, like this stung and ached and just made her heart clench in her chest as she saw the weary and submissive way that Max was acting. She hadn't meant to just blow up at him like that but he had genuienly scared and frightened her with his disappearing act.

"That was just a thank you to him." She explained softly, slowly as she approached her slightly skittish friend, her hand coming up to curl around Max's squeezing it tightly. "I was in a slump because a lot of guys were coming up to me, leering at me and just generally being jerks because of Valentine's day so he approached me and said we could both go into Hogsmeade as friends to get our stalkers of our backs. I'm sorry..." She placed her head on Max's chest, her eyes squeezing shut as the events of the day literally sapped away all her strength.

"...You what?" She asked softly, raising her head to look at Max who confused about something.

Max's hand didn't pull away from Prim as she took his hand and gave it a squeeze. Her temper seemed to have receded in that moment, for which Max was grateful to see. But he was still uncertain about how this was going to progress.

And Prim's explanation for the kiss did little to help Max in that moment. It only confused him more. "But..." Max shook his head at her explanation because he was struggling. "It was more than a kiss. It..." Max didn't know what you called that, really, but it had been more than a kiss. And that wasn't how you said thank you...

"Why didn't you tell me you were getting all that? We could have gone to Hogsmeade together. I... thought we were going together." Max added, though they hadn't explicitly said they would, he'd assumed because they were good friends they would. Wrongly, it had seemed. Prim had curled herself in to his chest, though, and Max was finding it increasingly difficult to understand anything going on. But he'd missed the witch, more than he wanted to admit.

Bringing their hands to his chest, Max placed Prim's hand right where the pain had hit when he'd seen her kissing the life out of Taylor. There was a pause, a crack of thunder than made Max jump slightly, before he spoke again. "I dunno what happened on Valentine's Day. But... Elyah was busy. You'd gone off when I came back up to the Tower. And... then when I was coming back, and I saw you, I got this big ache here." Max explained, pushing her hand a little against his chest to show her. "Like... I dunno, like I'd been hit with a Knockback Jinx... I guess. I didn't understand... I still don't understand, Prim."

The question of what he'd been trying to say only moment before made Max pull off his sodden bag again, and open it, pulling out one of the boxes of chocolates. The damp hadn't gotten in to it, and Max's bag was more than a little cramped. They were a little damaged, and not nearly as pretty as they should have been two days ago. "I'd gotten you some chocolates, because... well, I wanted to made sure you got at least one Valentine's gift... but I think I underestimated your beauty..." Max told her apologetically, holding out the chocolates to her even though it wasn't nearly enough.

Prim sighed softly at Max's words and softly, reassuringly she explained. "Yes it was more than a kiss, it was a full-on snog but it meant nothing sexual to me. It was just a 'Thanks for covering for me' type of kiss." She reassured her friend as she stared up at him fondly, with a soft smile upon her lips. Well at least she partly knew why Max was like how he was.

"I... didn't want to worry you," Prim said with a quiet voice. "I know if I told you that you would worry yourself silly, I just... I just needed to vent to someone who went through the same thing as I did." While Max was certainly her friend, her best friend, she didn't want to burden the boy with problems that weren't his to be burdened with, she just wanted to keep Max in the dark longer.

At Max's words, Prim's brow arched in confusion before her eyes widened in comprehension and she let a soft, quiet chuckle leave her lips as she leant up on her tip-toes and stared at Max, her eyes staring fondly at her friend. "You felt jealousy Max.." She murmured softly. "You felt jealous when you saw me kissing Taylor." There was no accusations, just pure explanation in her words to Max's confusion.

"And that is my only Valentine's Day gift, I promise you that." Prim reassured Max as she took the box of chocolates, her eyes fondly looking at her friend before she dug into the bag that had Max's clothes in to pull out a square box wrapped in bright red wrapping with green Bowtruckle designs on it and handed it to her friend. "And this is for you I believe." She held it out expectantly, her lips pulling into a soft smile, her eyes hopefully looking up at Max.

PostSubject: Re: Of Misunderstandings and Stupid Feelings (Prim and Max)   Of Misunderstandings and Stupid Feelings (Prim and Max) EmptyTue Feb 28, 2017 8:46 pm

As Prim explained that she had snogged Taylor - a word Max knew and knew not to be very nice kind of kissing (says the boy who's never tried) - he pulled a face of disgust, wrinkling his notes slightly. "You're disgusting... Taylor Wilkes?" Max asked, managing a small smile as teased her for kissing a bloody Slytherin.

Max was all about ready to argue that worrying about her in that situation was allowed when the witch mentioned talking to someone who understood. A quicker witted person might have seen that for the slight - however unintended - it was, but Max just took this to mean that he didn't have the right means to fix it. "I could have tried to help..." The boy mumbled in return, though he wasn't really trying to argue with her about it.

The next bit, though, had Max's brow furrowed as Prim told him he'd been jealous of the kiss. He didn't understand why, though... "But, you said we... Why would I be jealous of Taylor? I kissed you first. Though you said..." Max shook his head. "It was just a one time thing... twice." Max finalised, still not fully comprehending the whole thing, but deciding that Prim probably knew better in this situation.

As Prim said this was the only gift she'd received, Max grinned at the witch. "I got one for Elyah too. That's okay, isn't it, getting a gift for more than one girl? Like... none of us are dating anyone, or anything..." Max added, before a parcel was pushed in to his hands in return. Looking down at the design Max couldn't help the beaming smile that touched his lips before he looked up at Prim to check it was okay to open it. With the confirmation, Max carefully undid the paper - something his parents had never gotten their head around, how delicate he could be despite his chaotic nature - to reveal his own box of chocolates. "Thank you, these are awesome! I'd say these were my only ones, but I might have a mountain of Valentine's waiting for me up in my dorm." He joked, though he knew full well there wouldn't be any.

As another clap of thunder sounded, Max remembered they were stood out in the middle of the storm. "Come on, lets get back in to the castle, I don't like this storm..." Max insisted, taking Prim's hand and leading her out from the forest with ease.
