Phil has basically been raised by his father, Maitland Ritter, ever since his mother died when he was six. It was a terrible time because it was then that Paloma died as well. Due to the fact that Isabella had AIDS and genetically passed it down to Paloma, with their weak immune systems all it took was a flu and the dragon pox and they were gone with the wind. Phil idolizes his father who was a Ravenclaw when he was in Hogwarts, but Phil acts before thinking and fears he'll never live up to his father's intelligence.

Phil loves making new friends, he's very outgoing. They used to live in Avalon village, where Phil attended an elementary school for children his age. When he was five he started playing soccer and baseball, although he also played football his skills nor passion just weren't in it. He loves soccer however and plays it whenever he gets the chance. Maitland is adamant in being the best father he can, and doesn't lie to his son. They have a good relationship of being father and son but also friends. Because of this, Phillip tends to be more deviant than other children. He's clever, however, so he doesn't get caught.

Because of his mother's death, his father only strove to be the best parent he could possibly be to substitute for a mother; he was there when his son needed him, but took on the work of extra jobs and teaches at a college. Since his father could only be there when absolutely necessary, Phil took to exploring and adventuring while his father was out and about working to pay for Phil. He loves his father, loves all he meets, despite his hot temper and smart mouth

When he was six and his mother died, his father and him moved into a smaller apartment in Laguna Beach. There he met his best friend, Corienna Azura, and because they're neighbors they're quite close. He enjoys making new friends, cooking with his dad, playing with his dad, playing with his best friend, and adventures.

Phillip or Phil as he goes by, is the son of Maitland and Isabella Ritter. Isabella has AIDS and died when Phil was six, as did his older half-sister, Paloma who was nine. Both had AIDS, Isabella had been pregnant when she found out she did and Paloma was born with it. Isabella was adamant in having "relations" with Maitland and risking another sick child so Maitland's younger brother's girlfriend, Emma, was willing to surrogate Phillip. Phillip doesn't know it but Emma carried twins, him and his sister Collete. Collete stayed with Isaiah and Emma, Emma who broke up with Isaiah a year after. Isaiah was crushed but he moved to the states with him and Maitland's mother to raise Collete in Boston.

Phil has never known of his younger sister as his actual sister, rather just his cousin. Maitland has never told him that Emma was the mother; just that a close friend with the same name surrogated him. For five years, they lived in familial bliss and love. That is until Isabella caught the flu and with her weakened immune system it was enough to kill her. Paloma caught dragon pox while visiting her mom in St. Mungo's; it too was enough to kill her within months following it.

His father is a pureblood, but on the lower spectrum of them; after the Second Wizarding War they changed their last name to Ritter, and although Maitland tells Phil the truth to the best of his ability, he refuses to tell him the Ritter's previous surname. Antonia is his father's mother and his uncle is Isaiah. He was named after his uncle for assumed reason that because Isaiah had been born with cancer; Maitland always took good care of Isaiah. Isaiah and Maitland were best friends above all else.

Phil is close with his grandmother, Antonia, his uncle Isaiah, and father; his best friend is his huge beautiful dog that he loves. Well that and his next door neighbor Corienna.
