Movie Marathon [Tess] Empty
PostSubject: Movie Marathon [Tess]   Movie Marathon [Tess] EmptyWed Jan 17, 2018 11:29 am

Tess had proven to be more fun than Delia had expected -- or rather, more open. And with openness came the ability to do so much more than just talk about random, polite things that neither of them cared about. When it became evident that Tess didn't know what movies were -- "Like, long moving pictures with talking and people acting... That is, pretending to be someone you're not... I'm not explaining it very well, am I?" -- Delia had jumped on the opportunity to corrupt the fellow Pureblood witch. ("After all, where was the fun in obeying all the rules?" she said, grinning wickedly.)

And so a date was set, one weekend put aside for a movie marathon of everything from The Little Mermaid to Jigsaw to The Greatest Showman. Depending on which Tess liked, Delia would play more of the similar kind. Mostly, though, she was excited to be sharing a part of the muggle world with a Pureblood, much like her muggleborn friends had been when she'd first seen them.

Part of her was also looking forward to the witch's reaction to horror and slasher films; Delia enjoyed them, although they weren't her favourite genres. For just a moment, Delia was very, very tempted to 'accidentally' sneak in a porn movie -- the one Irene liked -- but decided against it at the last moment, sighing in what sounded like resignation. No, that would've been just a little too much. She wanted to expose the witch, not fracture her innocence (as fun as that may be).

In the end, she decided to start with something simple and work her way through the different genres and kinds until Tess was either bored or fell asleep. Of course, Delia wasn't going to make Tess watch anything she hated, and so more likely than not, Slenderman was only going to be on for a few minutes.

Everything she needed was prepared -- snacks, her laptop, a charger -- and she'd even kicked out her dorm mates for the whole day. Going down to the common room entrance, she opened the door, waiting outside for Tess to arrive.

Tess was very nervous. In fact, she was always a bit on edge when interacting with Delia. It was not necessarily the girl's fault, but in reality it was just that she made her feel that she was so naive. Her naivety was often times the butt of the joke even from her brother, who sheltered her considerably from the world. But Delia was quite the opposite.

So that very night they agreed to have a "sleepover", she decided to pack rather than change. She did not want to walk through the halls in her silk nightie. Thus she walked through the grounds as quickly as possible before heading to the ever intriguing Gryffindor tower. As she turned to begin the stairway she found Cordelia waiting outside. Relief flashed through her and she quickly went up the stairs.

"Good Evening Cor-I mean Delia. Apologies, force of habit" she was genuinely apologetic. "I brought a change of clothing as requested, along with my kitten, if you don't mind" a mew was emitted from her bag. "Nuite does not like to be left alone so I bought him along. I also brought other goodies"

This was the first time she did something "girly" like traditional normal people and she was a mix of giddy and anxious.

Movie Marathon [Tess] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Movie Marathon [Tess]   Movie Marathon [Tess] EmptyMon Jan 22, 2018 4:26 am

Grinning as Tess showed up, Delia shrugged at her comment. "Eh, call me whatever the hell you want. I don't mind." Oddly enough, this was true, despite Delia typically preferring Delia or Lia, from friends. There was something she liked about Tess that honestly meant she didn't mind whatever the witch called her. It was odd, but she didn't harp on it; there were many weird things in the world, and not enough time to think about them all. "Nuite?" she repeated, her grin widening. "That's an adorable name. I love kittens; by all means."

The notion of food made her nod. "Good. I've also got snacks. And my laptop, and a portable charger." The one thing Hogwarts didn't have was a reliable socket, and so Delia had learnt to bring her own source -- a solar powered one that she charged during the day and lasted for many hours. She had three of those, usually, because she often forgot to charge one up and whatnot. Still, it would be more than enough to last them the night. "I've kicked out my dorm mates; they'll be sleeping elsewhere. So, it's just us tonight," she added, motioning for Tess to enter the door.

She led the Slytherin up the stairs and towards her dorm, opening it to reveal that she'd set everything up. Three beds were pushed together in the middle for them to lie on, and a few tables were by the side for them to put their snacks. Her laptop was hooking up to a projector she recently purchased for this exact reason, pointing at the wall.

"You're not really going to have a movie night dressed in..." She glanced Tess up and down. "That, are you? Bathroom's that way," she continued, not bothering to pause, pointing to a set of doors on the left. "Or you can just change here. I don't care. If you do, I can look away."

Tess smiled as the Cordelia took it all in stride. As she was led in, Nuite immediately jumped off and went to look throughout the room. She knew that she would be safe from anyone knowing what she was doing. While she knew her brother wouldn't mind too much, the idea of them finding out that his sister, a Prefect, sneaking out past their proper hours...he would have a fit. So Cordelia continued to talk about the items she had prepared for the night, Tess curiously looked around as to what a Gryffindor room looked it. It was nice, the view...she walked towards the window to take a look. It was a nice one, but she had gotten used to the lake's view.

As Cordelia lightly judged her on her looks, Tess laughed and shook her head. "I'd like to call you Cor, if you really don't mind. Cor reminds me of Coeur and I do believe you have a kind heart" it was a light compliment, a bit silly probably to the older girl, but she meant it. Cordelia did not judge and for that she was appreciative.

"And no, I will not be in this. I'll change in a second!" Pulling her nightgown and robe out she rushed to the bathroom. It was not the idea of Delia there that made her nervous, but rather showing her body to anyone that horrified her. She was not one of those people as confident with every curve.

Once she properly changed, she came out a bit shy. She had tied her hair in slight ribbons to keep it from her face, and her knee-length nightie was a periwinkle color, matching her silk robe. She tied it tightly around her waist and went to take out things.

"This is very exciting for me you know." she began as she took out snacks. Strawberries, gelato, some pastries from her grand-mere...and a nice wine. "I've never done anything like this. Father said it would be too noisy to invite anyone to the estate. What m-movies do you have? I heard there are genres like books!"

PostSubject: Re: Movie Marathon [Tess]   Movie Marathon [Tess] EmptyMon Jan 22, 2018 6:35 am

She didn't have much to say about the nickname; it was sweet, and she wasn't used to that. She was used to love -- friendship or otherwise -- shown in rough words and cusses, in 'bitch', 'slut', 'kill yourself'. Perhaps that might've been too much for Tess, but Delia was used to it, and to hear genuine compliments coming her way made her falter. "Okay," she said, simply, after a moment's pause. "Cor it is." There was nothing else she knew to say, nor words to thank her with. There was only acceptance, which was probably the highest compliment that Delia could pay her.

Watching Tess move to change was amusing. Delia herself had no shame, often changing right in front of her other friends. If they wanted to look or not was not an issue; she didn't care either way. To see someone who was shy, though, was an amusing change, and Delia had to stop herself from laughing. She didn't want to embarrass the girl, not truly. Instead, she busied herself with preparation, summoning pillow and blankets, and making sure her snacks and whatnot were all properly arranged.

She had a selection of both wizarding and muggle sweets, chocolates, and crisps. She even had a couple cans of whip cream, and packets of hot chocolate mix. Moving to her laptop, she double checked that it was plugged in and charging, and then double clicked the folder file. She'd already put aside the movies she wanted to watch over the weekend, arranging them in order so it would be easy to find, and by category.

As Tess came out, Delia grinned at her. "You sexy beast," she commented, glancing up at her before going back to the list. She knew she wanted to start with Disney, not something too intense, to ease Tess into it all. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched Tess pull out the different things, smiling a little at the choice. It was so... proper, unlike her junk food, and fit perfectly with Tess' personality.

"Father can f*** himself," Delia replied, only half-seriously. "Noise is the entire fun of it all!" Pausing, she nodded, realising for probably the first time how little Tess actually knew. The last thing she wanted was to sound condescending. "Yeah, there are. There's like, family ones, which are all clean. There are thriller and horror, more scary ones. There's action and adventure -- like..." She paused. "Do you know what guns are? Cos there are wild west ones. I love those. There are musicals, which have... a lot of singing." She grinned. "We'll start off with something simple -- a classical Disney. Okay, pick from these titles: The Lion King, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Mulan, Pocahontas."

As Cor began to express her displeasure to Tess' father, she shook her head. Yes her father was strict and neglectful, but if she was perfectly honestly she lived to please. It was just her way of being, like breathing.  Even in her teasing, Cor picked on her lightly, by no means to harm her, but to bring some humor to all situations.

"He will always just be who he is. I no longer take it personally if I'm perfectly honest."

And it was nice to sit and simply be. There was no need for forced niceties and she enjoyed how Cor had no expectations from her, she genuinely wanted her to have fun and she liked that a lot. Smiling warmly, she dug into the strawberries as her friend went on about the different options. This was almost as overwhelming as book and she liked the fact that there were was nothing patronizing as she explained.

"The mermaid one" she immediately said after all the options were present to her. "When I was little" she began a bit nervous. "I always thought I was born from a siren and I was a mermaid like her" it was an embarrassing thing to say, she knew. "I've always loved the water...so I think that one works well!"

And as she looked curiously at the movie, her eyes trailed to the snacks that Delia had grabbed. All looking a bit unhealthy, but she helped herself to the lemon crisps. A burst of flavor later, and the strawberries were beginning to be forgotten.

Shrugging, Delia said, "Eh. I still say f*** him. Not literally." She let out a laugh. "Alright, The Little Mermaid it is. Feel free to open and eat anything and everything," she said, motioning to the selection of things piled up. "And if you think I have proper food coming for dinner, think again. This is it. This is all we have, unless you want pizza or something equally unhealthy later on. Movie nights mean nothing yucky like salad. Strawberries are fine if they're coated in chocolate or whip cream."

Once Tess settled down, Delia double clicked on the title, allowing the movie to begin. Lifting her wand as soon as it came on, she dimmed the lights. She'd seen this one at least five times before, and while not one of her favourites, it wasn't one she minded. More than watching it, though, she watched Tess' expressions, taking them in with a sense of joy; she liked seeing people experience new things, especially things they weren't normally allowed to have or do.

As the last scene came on, Delia was already surrounded by an empty packet of gummy bears and a can of coke. That was one thing she liked about her body; she seemed to be able to eat whatever she wanted without growing fat. Of course, she never pushed it and did still exercise and eat healthy stuff, but it never did her harm to have more than once cheat day a week.

The credits rolled, and Delia flicked her wand, turning things back on. "So?" she asked, looking towards Tess, grinning a little. "How'd you like your first movie? I forgot to tell you that this one's animated, meaning people hand drew each scene on either a computer or by hand. There are some with actual people -- muggles -- acting. Maybe we'll do that next? What do you think? Pick a genre."

Before the movie started, Tess sat comfortably on the bed, taking in the lemon chips she had grown fond of. While the idea of eating such unhealthy things a bit daunting, she took it in stride. 'A little won't ruin your diet'. She was never as skinny as her father thought she could be, but she knew she was fine at least as good as she could be without the exercise.

When the movie began, her back was very straight and narrow, nervous of what was to come. Her familiar knew what was wrong as he went over to purr on her lap. The kitten knew the stress was radiating off of her as she did the first forbidden thing in the world. But as the movie began and the songs played, Tess grew enamored with the animation. The movie resonated with her, especially as the mermaid Ariel wished for more than what her father assumed was good enough for her. She bit back a bit of tears as her things were destroyed because she loved humans, and the prince. It briefly reminded her when she had received a toy only to her father to break it because it came from a muggleborn.

The romance in Kiss the girl, made her smile and lean forward. It was a shame the prince did not see her or recognize her as soon as she showed up, but when they got married a warmth hit her chest and she smiled brightly.

"Oh Cor that was beautiful" and it truly was. "You should pick next, but I did enjoy the movie a lot."

Tess had seemed to enjoy her first movie, and with a smile, Delia nodded at her reaction. "Me?" she repeated, laughing a little. "Please, I've seen every movie on the list at least twice. You're the noob. You should pick." Pulling the laptop closer, Delia reopened the folder, glancing at the different options and mentally running through them.

She didn't want to go straight to something like horror, not yet. But another Disney classic might grow a little dull, and she wanted to show Tess all the different kinds first. Bypassing the Disney Classic folder, she continued to glance at the rest, already knowing what movie was in what folder. "Hmm," she mused aloud. "Let's go with a live action one. Show you what acting's like and all -- but maybe..." She paused, wondering if it might be too cliche, and then shrugged.

Double-clicking on the Disney Channel Original Movies, she quickly went through the list -- sorted alphabetically, for ease -- until she found the one she was looking for. "Okay so this one is one of my favourites, and it's kinda weird cos everyone says I resemble the main character. Or at least, the actress," she said, selecting it. "This is also Disney, but it's an original movie, meaning..." She paused, not actually knowing what it meant, then shrugged again. "Meaning something. I have no f***ing clue."

With a laugh, she dimmed the lights, selected a packet of chips, and settled back until it was over. When it finished, she stretched, turned the lights on, and looked over at Tess. "So?"

Tess laughed softly at the colloquialism that Cordelia chose. She did not really understand it much, but it was clear that she teased her for not knowing anything muggle. While she assumed some would take much enjoyment or annoyance at her ignorance, the girl before her took it in stride. In fact, she taught her well and with patience.

So as the second movie continued, Tess found herself finding it interesting but not as enthralling as she had the first animated one. This one, will it had the same feel good genre, it was not as connecting to her. So as it ended and she had finished a bowl of strawberries she found herself scooting to see what she could find.

"It was okay..."she trailed off. "The plot was...okay. But perhaps another one?"

In all the excitement it seemed that the idea of sleep was slowly disappearing. Instead her eyes caught something. It seemed simple enough, a silly looking man holding a microphone and a nice blonde woman smiling.

"The Wedding Singer?" she said aloud. "Is this a romance? I'd like to see one of those. May we see this one?"

Copying the girl's movements she sort of figured out how to play it. As the movie began to play, she found herself falling into the story. It was near the end when the song began that she found herself tearing up. She felt her heart swell up with....yearning? she wanted that kind of love, even if it was a silly notion.

She was a bit embarrassed as the lights came back on and she was crying. "Sorry" she whispered cheeks red.
