Full Name: Winston Charles Holmes Age: 20 Date of birth: June 16 Birthplace: Paris, France Current home: Paris, France Blood Status: Pureblood (Elite) Sexual Alignment: Heterosexual Wand type: 14", Blackthorn, Kelpie Hair Core, Rigid
Hair colour and style: Brown/black dark hair Eye colour: Brown/Black Height: 5'11 Body type: Tall, athletic Dress sense: Casual but expensive Birthmarks: N/A Tattoos:N/A Scars: Scars on his leg from his athleticism Piercings: N/A
Likes: (3 minimum) - Quidditch: While his siblings aren't the most athletic people in turn he finds that he excels in athletics. Being out there and being told he's the best at something is a good feeling for him. - Books: He might not be a genius, but he does find that the quiet time that comes in books allow him to relax and let himself just be in a new world. - Salem, Massachusetts - Right after graduating from Beauxbatons, he follows his brother's footsteps and decided to follow a scholarship towards America. He has been there for the past two years since his graduating and has only recently returned. The likes Americans, the change of leaves and the charming city of Salem.
Dislikes: (3 minimum) - His Father: The man is a good man, but too structured. Winston is used to getting his father's attention only when he does trouble. So he tends to be a thorn on his father's side if only to get some attention. - Small Talk: Much like the rest of his siblings, he finds the idea of disingenuous conversations to be a social construct. If he can ignore it,...well he would prefer it. - Potions: His other two siblings excel in brewing, but since he's not the most patient man, he cannot make sure that it works out as much as he'd like. It's honestly a miracle how he even managed to graduate.
Strengths: (3 minimum) - Sports: He is naturally fit and enjoys the physicality that comes with sports. - Politics: Social construct, social niceties and everything that comes to play when it comes to being a pureblood is natural for him. He is not quite fond of it, but he knows when he needs to act and what the outcome can be. - Dark Arts: While society frowns upon the idea of people liking the dark arts, Winston in turn finds it fascinating. From jinxes, to hexes, his wand is best suited for these kind of spells and he does definitely enjoy it.
Weaknesses: (3 minimum) - Hot-Headed: While he does have a good sense of his emotions, he does tend to get easily annoyed. He can quickly go from being casually happy to being annoyed and angry. The older he has gotten the better he has at taming it. - Women: He likes girls. A pretty face with big beautiful eyes usually have him trying to be part of their world. But he knows he needs to be careful as to what he can do. - Often Times Feels Neglected: While he fears having the "middle child syndrome", he does feel that he is often times ignored in favor for his older brother. Yes, he does know Mycroft has built a life for himself, but there is no reason to be ignored. - Tess: He loves his sister very much and he knows that she has him wrapped around her finger. Perhaps because she's the only one that wonders how he is when gone, but he's always felt that she is the only one that actually cares for him. In turn, he feels the same for her.
Positive traits: (3 minimum) - Charming: At a young age, he has been told that he is the handsomest of the brothers. From then on he has used his looks and charms to get people to give him what he doesn't get at home. - Demonstrative: Unlike his emotionally stunted siblings, he is good about showing how he feels and has no shame in simply feeling. Emotion can be people's weaknesses, but keeping them repressed to him is in no way better. - Giving: Whether it be volunteering or buying items for orphanages. He (along with Tess) work together to make underprivileged people feel more normal.
Negative traits: (3 minimum) - Egotistic - Stubborn - Broody
Being the middle child, Winston was born as a surprise to his parents. For one thing, his brother Mycroft was born five years before him and they already had an heir. But more importantly, he was born in a midst of miscarriages that his mother had. He was named Winston (ironically his older brother's middle name), and was named after his grandfather.
The birth of him was a relief for his mother, because it meant that she was not barren and that he could still be a useful woman for the Holmes family. Most of his early childhood was being coddled by his mother. She lovingly called him "Winnie" for his soft whining noises when frustrated. His mother was in reality the only sensitive person in his life; she loved him, sang to him and told him how special he was. He was the apple of his mother's eyes.
That is, until the dove was born; Tess was born when he was three years old. It was fascinating to see someone being born, so tiny and so vulnerable to the world. When he was now one of three and the middle child he had admittedly been a bit resentful. That is until her first words were "Winnie". From then on, his mother made him promise to take care of Tess. They were partners in crime and he followed her everywhere making sure "little dove' was safe. Their family lived a surprisingly peaceful life, but he knew that there was a lot of imperfection amongst it al.
For one thing their parents fought a lot. From broken vases, to harsh whispers, they often times forgot to close the door, which allowed him to really see it all. The night before his mother died, she had held him close (he remembers it clearly), and made him promise to be good. Her last words were "Winnie, my heart, please be good and take care of our dove. She's too broken for this world, but you can help her." At first, like an six year old, he wouldn't understand but the next morning when his mother was found dead, he knew that it was her goodbye. It seemed that she had only had spoken to him before her passing.
From then on, they lived in a state of limbo. Their grand-mere called him over to properly come to the proper estate and live together. This only lasted for two-and-a-half years until Mycroft turned eleven. Then their father left to London with Mycroft to make sure he would attend Hogwarts. As their father left he and Tess behind, he truly began to live. For one thing his grand-mere made their life in color. Paris was a warm city, welcoming, and loving. Their estate was full of life and he found himself enamored with Luxembourg Palace.
Everything he wanted he got and it was clear that his grand-mere loved both of them more than anyone. When he was eleven, he got his letter to attend Beauxbatons. It had been a hard goodbye. Tess had shed a lot of tears in fear of being left behind. It was a similar fear that both children had. Both of them had promised to one another to never forget. He had then promised her one thing 'Tess, the world will never destroy you, everyone will burn before anyone hurts you.'.
His life at Beaxbatons he blossomed. He was athletic, strong and charming. Girls fell at his feet but he felt no shame in merely looking flirting, but no harming. He would be damned if he would be forced into a marriage over an hour of fun. Throughout the summer, he found himself returning to Paris, spending time with his sister. Slowly that became less and less frequent. When he had his first girlfriend, he forgot his family. For in those moments he was the one that people paid attention to. That became more of a norm, and when he was seventeen he found himself going to America. America was a life changing experience, for one thing, his Quidditch skills, (and not his brain), had given him the freedom to go somewhere on his own.
Much to his father's disappointment, he became a Quidditch star at the age of eighteen. He became a seeker in the Fitchburg Finches and lived in Salem for two years basically enjoying his bachelorhood. His father made it clear when he turned twenty: come back to Europe, specifically London and make sure your face is seen once more. The playtime was over. It was time for him to be a proper pureblood and attend balls to find a proper woman.

His current family is still heavily involved in politics and are very close to one another. Their father Sherringford cares for his children in a detached sort of way. His love is shown in the form of money and what they have to show in society. He is proud that Mycroft is in politics and his bachelor style while frustrating, he finds charming in his sort of way.His frustration comes more from Tess who looks more like the lying wife he once had. Still, he cares for her only because she will one day be tied down and her pretty face will earn their family more power. In terms of Winston, he is frustrated with him as well. He has potential for more if he really wanted to, but his 'laziness' is the part he's the most disappointed about. He knows that Winston can be as strong as Mycroft and his handsome face can bring them a good wife. His children can always be better.
He has never been in love or felt true love. It's not that it's "off" the table, but it's never on the table either. He knows at one point he'll be forced to marry but why not have fun in the meantime? |
