| "I'm s-sorry,"
"It's not your fault. Never your fault." Louis whispered, holding her as the tears fell quickly down her face and in to his chest. Silence encased them in a manner that was no longer the comfortable kind they had shared so many times before. Louis could only sit and feel her breaking against his chest and there wasn't a single thing he could do about it. It was his fault, and forever it would remain his burden for the stupidity of his own actions.
And the silence increased for an amount of time that Louis didn't care to count, for however long Vanessa was upset was much to long in his eyes. She should not have been crying in the first place, and now it was all his fault.
"Pouvez-vous s'il vous plaît me prendre retourner dans ma chambre?"
If Louis thought that was as far as the pain could extend to her request only played the part of a sucker punch, hitting him harder than anything else in the world. For the day Vanessa did not fall asleep next to him after the usual process of her not being able to sleep, was the day every single dynamic between them changed. Not in a manner that he liked either. Very slowly, Louis moved his hand from hers, reaching up to her chemise and pulling it back over her body.
"S'il vous plaît rester avec moi..." Louis responded to her question, only to have Vanessa shake her head at him. Refusing to stay with him. "S'il vous plaît?" He tried once more, his voice thick as he knew he was breaking on the inside, but once again Vanessa shook her head against his chest. The boy had never once been told he couldn't have what he wanted, but today was different, today it was not his parents that he could force in to allowing him what he wanted through one tantrum or another. This was Vanessa, and she would not change her mind.
Pulling away from her slowly, Louis moved around the bed and carefully picked her up, hugging her to him as he made his way from his dormitory to the one across the main area. Silence consumed them once more, Louis not knowing how to make it all better, and Vanessa... her eyes remained closed as he held her to him, whether she had passed out or refused to look at him, Louis did not know.
After navigating his way to her bed, Louis carefully laid her out on her bed, pulling the covers over Vanessa. He paused for a moment, thinking about staying by her side through the night. It would a show of how much she meant to him, but it would also mean wearing a mask he could not hold. Louis could not stay, he needed to get away from her before something worse happened. So with one final kiss on her forehead and a whispered goodnight, Louis Clement left.
But not for the confines of his bedroom.
Nor the common room.
No, for the next week, Louis Clement was no where to be seen.
He did not show to classes, nor meals, nor the common room. It was as if he'd disappeared in to thin air in the castle, because no one could put a finger on where he'd gone to. But if Vanessa wanted to find him, she'd know exactly where he'd be. ________________________________________________~ Lord Clement ~ Profile ~ 55 ~
