 - Horror movies: She can hardly get through a scary movie without freaking out and leaving the room/theatre, especially if she’s alone.

When Harper was small, she was raised by loving, incredible parents. As she grew, her parents grew distant with each other, and the constant fights and arguing, and bickering drove her crazy, though she knew her parents still loved her. As she grew older, her dad picked up more shifts at work, until he was hardly home, and her mom was constantly having what she liked to call “back-up dads” over. Harper stated to feel like she was in the way, and like she was the burden of the household.

In school, the kids always bullied her and picked on her for being the quirky one, or the distant one, and the first day she marked herself, she expected someone to notice, ask how they could help, but she was met with silence all around. It helped for a short time, though, so she kept doing it. Eventually, her third year at Hogwarts, a teacher caught sight of them, and questioned her about them, before recommending her a London counselor.

The counselor helped her through a lot of what she diagnosed as “depression” and “anxiety”, where Harper had really thought there was something wrong with her. She started journaling, and drawing, and writing, and it helps a lot now. She always has her bad days, and hasn’t stopped cutting, but it’s less frequent, and she knows how to care for herself enough that she at least tends to the wounds after.

The following years at Hogwarts were some of the best of her life, even after her parents got divorced, as she knew that it would be ok. There was nothing wrong with her, and she wasn't just a weirdo. After starting to no longer see herself as an outcast, she stopped being treated like an outcast. She started approaching people and making friends, rather than shying away and being on her own all the time. She got on anti-depressants, and medicine to help with her anxiety, and her life seemed to get a million times better.

The meeting

Iris Britaine at the age of 18 and Shawn Genesis, the age of 21 met on a stormy night in paris. It was cold and raining, and Iris ducked under a doorway to get out of the downpour, running straight into Shawn. He, seeing her soaked, invited her into this apartment, and she obliged, not wanting to catch a cold in the rain. He lived there, she was there on one of her first trips out of England alone. They got along nicely, exchanging phone numbers before Iris went home.

They kept in touch for about a year, talking and flirting, and building a relationship over the phone and over text. One day Shawn showed up at her door, surprising her with the news that he had found a suitable job in London, and would be moving there. They were engaged to be married not long after that.

The child

A year after they were married, Iris became pregnant with a baby girl. The couple was thrilled, and raised it together as well as any good, loving parent could. But the child drove a wedge between them. As it turned out, Shawn was horrible with children, and he couldn’t help but dislike their child, though he loved her so.

As the child grew, the couple fought, growing apart more and more until the only thing really keeping them together was Harper, even though she grew closer to her dad the older she got. It of course didn't help that she only seemed to act up for him, probably because he didn't know how to treat a child. Her first act of magic was when she was 4, and sent her toys flying at her dad's face. Luckily, he caught the toys and was able to not get injured, but it only further proved the point that he couldn't deal with magical children.

The divorce

When Harper was 16 her parents divorced. Her dad moved back to Paris, where he always truly belonged, for all his family was there, and that was where he grew up, and her mom stayed in London. She mostly spends her school years w/ her mom, and well as holiday weekends, and the summer break with her dad. Iris and Shawn were still friendly with each other, but where there used to be a great romance, there was now nothing.

3. You have denoted Harper liking the girl scouts -- this isn't a big thing in the UK, and you mentioned she goes to the US. Where did this come from? How did she get in to American camps (there is no note of American ties)?

4. The following years at Hogwarts were some of the best of her life, even after her parents got divorced, as she knew that it would be ok.

7. You've noted Hogwarts as having a counsellor. This is a hugely American idea, and to the admin's understanding there isn't a school counsellor employed at Hogwarts. We would, therefore, suggest changing this to a counsellor outside of school, or to the school healer.
