- A rather boring, but interesting hobby that Isaac had picked up on many a stake out was bird watching. A simple way to pass the time, and hone his observation skills. Or so he told others, really he just liked birds.
- After all, what is the point of eating if you can barely tell what you put in your mouth. An affinity for spicy food perhaps bred from the southern gumbo he grew up on.
- Because you can only watch birds for so long on those long adulatory stake outs, manga occupies the second most often past time while leaning back in the car seats. Case Closed, a favorite manga and the goal.
Dislikes: (3 minimum)
- In contrast with his preference for spicy foods, taking in nourishment that doesn't fulfil a purpose or at least hits you in the mouth is seen as a worthless endeavor.
- Despite growing up near New Orleans, Isaac always preferred the surrounding rural areas. Venturing in when he needs to is no problem, but for comfort the cacophony of swamp flora beats the sounds of humanity packed together.
- Call it the job, call it a callus for the world, but romantic comedies and any of the same was lost on Isaac awhile ago. Not much for romance on screen or off, he has a tough time seeing it for what it is and not simply a motive.
Strengths: (3 minimum)
- "anything man made can be fixed or broken by man" a quote from his grandfather that stuck with him. This attitude has led him to be handy with a tool fixing or improvising with whatever is on hand. It might not be magic, but it comes in handy.
- The skill that is the most handy for a PI is his observance of the world. Honing in on small details, and picking up subtle ques comes with the job, if one wants to be successful.
- A lack of magic has never stopped Isaac from a scrap. With beast, monster or man none have got the best of him so far. Or at least, not enough to keep him down for long.
Weaknesses: (3 minimum)
- A tendency to speak his mind, and perhaps be a touch self involved have led to a lack of social graces at times.
- The most problematic skill or lack there of for a PI comes in the form of driving and directions. A smart phone was a God send, but high speed chases aren't likely to ever end well.
- Maintaining a sense of fashion for no-maj or magical society has never been of a high priority. Being sneaky is one thing, but with a very distinct look, and few outfits to choose from, social blending has never been a strength.
Positive traits: (3 minimum)
- Never turned down a fight, and never worried about sticking his neck out for others in trouble. It can cause trouble, but even if it is sometimes with reluctance he refuses to not help someone he sees in need.
- Maybe it is because of how he grew up, but rather than allowing it to turn him bitter it resulted in the opposite. Being inclusive of many different peoples of any background comes naturally.
- Isaac's goals are and stay being for the greater good of society. No just magical, but no-maj alike. It isn't an easy time to have this be your hearts mission, but even with pressures he stays the course.
Negative traits: (3 minimum)
- Arrogance is in the eye of the beholder, and well many a be has held the opinion that Isaac holds himself in high regard. Perhaps not always the most rude, there is no doubt that Isaac is Isaac's biggest fan.
- Maybe it comes from his high opinion of himself, but changing the plan has never been a strong suit. Preferring to stick to his own plans rather than allow "reality" or "reason" from others impact his decision making.
- Image is everything, even more so with the cards that he'd been dealt. That being the case, Isaac has been known to push harder than perhaps necessary to maintain that image.
To say a series of unfortunate events had unfolded for Isaac Hellsinger would be an understatement, even if he wouldn't be the one to admit it. instead, it merely as he would say "is what it is". Born a squib, Isaac never was able to perform magic. his 7th birthday came and went, and by the time he was 13, an unlucky age, it was time to admit that that ship had sailed. Growing up non-magical in America wasn't an easy one, and though he was able to shrug off the worst of it, cries of cripple still hurt.
Perhaps it was this reason that his parents exited magical society for the most part. To shield their son from the worst of it. Both taking no-maj jobs in the city of New Orleans at a prominent newspaper. As for Isaac, he grew up in the in-between of both worlds. Not magical enough to activate magic of his own, but just enough to see the world underneath the one in which he dwelt.
This in-between had the greatest impact on Isaac, and shaped many of his skills and personality quirks that develop as one ages. A keen sense of observation, always searching for the magic underneath, being discriminated against, and learning to accept others. Lessons that where hard, yet somehow met with a smile. From emotional fortitude or a lack of understanding it was difficult to say, but happen it still did. His life was for the most part uneventful.....until it wasn't. While away at college the untimely death of both his parents occurred in his childhood home. Though it was labeled a simple home intrusion gone wrong, something never sat right with the young criminal justice major.
Still, police aren't likely to listen to an emotional college student and his concerns where brushed to the side. Time waits for no man, and Isaac was no exception. A proclivity to bomb job interviews eventually led him to working for a PI agency and moonlighting on the side to make a living. Eventually he built a strong enough reputation to break off on his own, and open his own small agency.
This was aided by a certain cousin who had a bad habit for selling some undocumented military gear, along with some magical lessons and artifacts that made some jobs a little easier than they should have been. Still his biggest case to date was that of a flirtatious mayor, which made him a decent amount of money but little in the way of friends outside a strong connection to a macaw. Still, his biggest case might be lurking just around the next alley........

Familial bonds came and went fairly quickly for Isaac. Both parents died early in what could only be looked back on as a cliché scenario. This was not lost on Isaac, and was the punchline of many a joke as he matured, and moved past the incident. The mystery was never solved, and their deaths remain one of the open cases crammed in his desk. The Hellsingers maintained a modest life in New Orleans, both parents running regular jobs. As he grew older, Isaac wondered if it was because of his condition that neither had interacted more with the magical world, had it been a kindness for his sake? Regardless, it was an unanswered question that likely would not be closed.
Now Isaac maintains little contact with any of his family. The only ones remaining being of the extended variety. Family remains a mystery even to him, but one he doesn't take a long time looking into.
