Internal Debates (Peter) Empty

The moment Bella had said something about PETER liking her, Effie couldn't get it out of her head. She was drawn between slapping the boy in the face, and kissing him on the mouth. For the longest time, Effie had thought PETER the same way Bella thought of him. She couldn't decide the way she felt now. She was eternally conflicted. Would it be weird if they were to start going out? Would it ruin their friendship if something went wrong? That was her biggest fear. She sat starring at the lake letting her mind work through everything that was bugging her.

Part of her was over joyed. She had never had a boy like her genuially. They had always been pranks to see if somebody could get into her "fat pants" as they called it. She always pretended like she didn't care, but deep down, it had caused her a great deal of pain. Only Bella knew this. She had been there to witness her crying and breaking down multiple times over a guy who was entirely a jackass. She was hoping PETER wasn't turning into one of them. Wanting to use her for a stupid bet. If he was, she knew where he lived and would track him down and personally deal with him. She let a tear slide down her cheek, and wipped it away before anybody could see she was crying.

It was then she saw him. He was running around the lake. She wanted to get up and run away. But she knew he would catch her so she saw no point in that. So she just sat and was ready to face the music. Maybe it was her luck and he didn't know that Bella had told her of his secret crush. Maybe she could pretend this never happened. But deep deep deep deep deep deep down, she secretly wanted to know what love felt like without being used. And if Peter wasn't going to give her true genuine love, she would kick him in the balls. And that was a promise.

Running was about the only thing that could clear Peter's clustered mind. In a good way. Running was his healthy way to let out his anger and other normal teenage emotions he wasn't a big fan of. He hadn't gotten a chance to do his morning run that day as he had to make up an assignment for a class before the first lesson started, so he was doing it now. It was almost dusk, or somewhere around that time - he wasn't very sure - but the sky was beyond amazing. There were more colors in the sky that he had ever thought possible, and with the evening January breeze, Peter was more than happy to have picked a time like this to run.

Usually, he ran fast enough to let out all of those negative emotions, but he didn't actually have of them today. Rather, he wasn't having them recently. Of course, most of them came along whenever he had to spend time with his parents, but Christmas had gone relatively okay in comparison to the past family holidays. For one, his father didn't get home until around midnight, drunk past his senses and with something resembling a black eye that Peter was very curious about. It was the very first time Edward Sexton had acted that way. And Peter had been there to witness it. He had been too wasted and out of it to argue with whatever Peter was talking about. The only downside to it was seeing his mother and sister freaking out about it, but Peter knew their concern would only last a few hours. He was right, because by morning they were both happily singing holiday music, all the event of the night before had been forgotten.

As he ran, he chuckled at the memory of the past Christmas. It had certainly been quite a story. The sky was darkening, but still beautiful, so Peter decided it would be a good time to head back to the Castle. He didn't feel like making Slytherin lose points for being out late. As he ran towards the Castle, he noticed Effie sitting nearby. Without really thinking about it, he ran over to her. "Hey, Effie." he greeted her, not bothered by his dirty shirt. Really, Peter never cared what he was wearing, not even with Effie. That's how bad his sense of fashion was. If it was clean, it was worth wearing. Dropping to the spot next to her, Peter laid on the ground - defeated. "Don't ever take up running, or it will consume you. Literally." he said, a bit breathless, and for a moment he just stayed there, not saying anything but rather looking up at the colorful sky.

Propping himself up on his elbows, Peter glanced at Effie. It had been a while since they had a good, real, inspiring conversations. Actually, none of the talks he ever had with her were inspiring, but they were often fun. "How was your Christmas?" he asked, figuring that it might as well be a good time to talk to her again, since he wasn't so sure they were still good friends.

Effie always felt sad around the holidays, as she didn't have her parents to spend it with. She could vaguely remember her mum dancing with her as her father put the star on top of the tree. Ever since then, any holiday had been bleh. She said, "You don't have to worry about me taking up running I tried and nearly died." She laughed, but in reality she was completely serious. She had ran down from the castle to the lake to meet Bella and that was NOT fun. She didn't understand what could be so enjoyable about something that made you sweat 20 buckets, and made your heart beat a thousand miles a minute. She just didn't understand.

Effie had a sucky holiday. She had spent her time at her grandparents house locked up in her room. She had written Bella a few times, but that was about it. She didn't really come out of her room except on Christmas morning. Her grandparents were rich, so they had a maid that brought her her meals and she had a bathroom that connected to her bedroom which could easily fit five people. So when Peter asked about it she shrugged and said, "It was uneventful. My grandparents through a party for their work colleagues on Christmas eve. But that was about it. They wouldn't let me invite any friends, otherwise you and Bella would've been there."

She said, "You're just nuts. But whatever. How was you're holiday?" She looked at him. She then couldn't picture herself with him. What That would be really awkward. She would just have to wait until the right guy came along and she could finally be happy. If it was Peter whom she was meant to be with, she would just have to wait. Because there was no stinking way that he was the one. Nope. She wouldn't go for it. She just had to find somebody else. Or he did. Or both.
