| It was just another Saturday, and as usual Maddie was making her way down to Hogsmeade. Melody had been beyond fascinated at the lessons she had been receiving, and a few times Maddie had told her twin of some things she had learnt. However, she kept some things to herself, believing and knowing her sister was not as .. cold .. as her. Sure, together they made an amazing pair when together, but there were some things Madison would consider doing that Melody said made her feel uncomfortable.
Still, sisters by birth and by choice, they stuck together.
Slipping into The Three Broomsticks, Madison took her seat, early by ten minutes, and waited for Josh Murray to appear. It was time for their monthly meet, and boy did she have news to report! But, she also had seen something in the news that day. She would not be meeting with the Murray Heir - she would be meeting with the Murray head.
Waiting patiently with a small, innocent smile (for the benefit of anyone passing by) she went through everything she wanted to say and report, lest she wasted her time and Josh's time. |

| To Josh it was amusing just how much someone could fall apart over somebody they 'didn't care for'. The sudden death of Layton Murray had made his mother a nervous wreck. Only when she thought she was alone, of course, a Murray could never show weakness outwardly. But he'd seen her cry too often as of late, and any respect he'd once held for his mother had dissipated as quickly as his father's life had.
Josh had not missed the cautious glances she'd given him the first couple of days, in fact it had made the whole thing much more satisfying.
The look of fear in his mother's eyes was one he would revel in if he had the time to care, but he didn't.
The funeral had taken place only two days after the 'crime' had taken place, Eleanor not in the slightest bit ready to let this drag on. Josh didn't mind, and had stood stone faced through the ceremony, barely listening to the words as he watched distant relations mourn over a man they had never known.
It was disgusting, Josh thought as he watched, he knew why these people were here, and they would be gain nothing from the family estate. It was his, and he was not one to share.
That had been yesterday.
Today, Josh held the Murray seal, he was the man in charge of the Murray estate, and he couldn't help but smirk to himself from time to time as he relished in what he'd done.
Pushing through the door of The Three Broomsticks, Josh noticed the witch he'd come to see in an instant and moved to take the seat opposite. "You can stop that now." Josh told her, not motioning to what he meant, but he was sure the witch would understand no less.
He allowed a pause, shrugging off his jacket and placing it beside him before his eyes turned back to Madison. "How much power do you hold?" Josh asked, the same question he always asked the witch since he'd sent her off to work on this. There was nothing more to say, he would get his report, he would advise on how she could do better, and then he would leave. Nothing more, nothing less. |

| Watching as Josh entered the bar, she waited for him to join her, straightening up at his words and dropping her innocent look. There was no point now that he was here, since she was with an adult, so she regained her normal serious posture. It was annoying to keep acting so happy and as if she didn't care about anything when all that was on her mind were important things.
The familiar question came her way, and she no longer had to think before answering, having prepared her answer already. "Well, since Jake has been absent, I've been working on Corey. He's a prefect, and is close with Victoria. I'm going to use her to get to Jake, and Jake to get to Daniel."
She paused, waited a moment, and then added, "By the way, my condolences; I read the news on your father's passing." She would have said she was sorry for it, but she knew that he would know she didn't mean it.
Honestly, she wasn't sure if he was even upset about it; after all, if one of her parents died, she wouldn't really be all that torn up about it. At this point of time, they were useful, seeing as she wasn't of age and couldn't buy things or make her own living. Once she turned 17, however, and found a job, she had plans to move out.
Indeed, there was only one person whose death would affect her emotionally, and that was her sister. Still, Josh was mostly a mystery, and while he did not seem very much upset, she could never tell with him. The Basilisks were an annoying bunch - fascinating, but annoying, simply because they never considered other means.
There were so many possible ways to take down a group of people and cold blooded murder just did not seem like something that could work in the long run, unless there were a lot of murders and nothing to stop them. Still, it was just a stroke of good luck that they had targeted Josh's father, for now instead of learning from the Murray Heir, she was learning from the Head of the family. |

| The information on the younger witch's progress came promptly, and for that much Josh was thankful. It seemed, as well, that she had it worked out as to how she was going to get closer to the professors and in to the system of power. Well, almost. Having left the year before, Josh was aware of the Victoria of which Madison was speaking, and for a moment, he pursed his lips.
She had not seen her error.
"Victoria won't be a long term asset." He stated bluntly, because he would not explain why, he would expect her to work it out, and find an alternative route. Quickly. He said nothing more on the subject, she was working hard, of that he could not doubt, but she was missing the obvious. For a child, he could forgive small mistakes. Once, at least. "But Corey... work with that." Josh added, though he gave no hint of how.
What the witch said next though...
Josh's lips tugged upwards in to a smirk, a dark glint flickering in to existence in his eyes. "Condolences?" He asked, shaking his head at the thought. "Of that, there is no need." Josh told her. Josh paused though at the mention of the media. "You mustn't believe everything you read in the media." He told her, almost cryptic in his words. Though, there was no need for cryptic messages, Josh would deny what had happened, because he knew himself to be untouchable.
And, who would believe the words of a twelve year old child anyway? |
