Background
When Dakota's mom and dad were married, they moved to Kristopher's house in Germany. However, when Dakota and her sister were born, the family returned to England.
Despite not wanting to be included in the wizarding world, Dannah wished for her children to experience a world of magic. Therefore, Dakota and Meadow were given several wizarding books to read each year, as soon as they could read. Tales of Beedle the Bard was a family favorite.
Along with this magical upbringing, the twins went to public school until they were seven. At this time, Dannah was diagnosed with a severe form of cancer that would inevitably end her life. Her dying wish was that her daughters would go to Hogwarts and live a life of magic, since she did not. Dannah passed away before the girls' 8th birthday. After this life-changing event, Kristopher began teaching his children at home. Despite being a Muggle, Dannah had left him several wizarding books to look into if he ever had the desire. Only after his wife's passing did he so much as glance at the books.
On the day of the twins' 11th birthday, they each received a letter from Hogwarts, inviting them to the school.

Family Background
Dannah Smith was a pure blood witch living in London, who caught the eye of a German Muggle named Kristopher Hemmel.
Dannah was born with magic, but she did not wish to go to wizarding schools- she did not care for the wizarding careers. Instead, she aspired to be a part of the English government. Kristopher was a student ambassador/exchange student for Germany, and the two ended up studying at the same university.
They fell in love, were married in 2003, and eventually had Dakota and Meadow.
