In more ways than one, Ruby was glad that when she was eleven and the sorting hat was placed on her head that it yelled "Hufflepuff". Before she had disappointed as she had been hoping for Slytherin, but now that it was 2am and she was starving, she wasn't so sad about it anymore. She sleepily made her way to the kitchens, in hopes that they would make her something to eat. She hadn't been sleeping well the past couple of weeks because she was wondering what she would do with herself after she graduated.
Graduation was only a few short weeks away and she still had NO IDEA. She didn't make terrible grades, so she could go into pretty much anything, which didn't help her situation at all. So as she tickled the pear, she walked in the kitchens hoping that the house elves would be willing to decide her fate for her. Knowing that they probably wouldn't go for that, she ordered a plate of hot chocolate chip cookies and milk instead.
She sat at the table in the kitchen resting her head on her arm. This was going to be impossible. She didn't like children, so teaching was out. She hated dealing with people so that was out too. But she did like using her wand and blowing things up. Maybe she could be an Auror?! That would be an interesting job. And it paid well so she could support herself. As she considered her option, she was a little more happier. That was, until somebody opened the portrait and disturbed her peace.
