| Making her way from her seat, Prim made her way towards the store cupboard where she collected her tray and moved back to her desk, placing it down carefully. Taking a look at the page where the instructions were written, Prim tapped her chin as she roved her eyes over the page before nodding her head.
Getting her cauldron set up and ready, she got ready on making her potion.
While her water heated up and boiled, the brunette fourth year started on the first step which was to crush the lionfish spines into a rough powder in the mortar, making sure to not over crush the spines, at least not until she added the standard ingredient which she did as soon as the lionfish spines were crushed enough.
Going through the steps carefully, Prim took no notice when James walked by her desk or when other people were getting told off. All she did was concentrate on her potion and hope it came out alright, which, judging by the colour so far, it was going perfect.
Following the steps, the girl kept her fingers crossed as she worked on adding the Horklump Juice and then the Flobberworm Mucus before she stirred the potion four times clockwise.
She held her breath as she watched the colour change and while she didn't know if the potion had been done correctly she was quite sure it was okay but then again until she used it on the plants she wouldn't know. |

| Carlotta listened to the lesson, casually jotting down the important points. When instructed, she quickly readied her cauldron, collected her ingredients and got straight to work, using her book as a reference.
She started by crushing the lionfish spines in the mortar, not too much, the instructions specified a rough powder. She followed step-by-step, and thankfully it was very straightforward. However, straight-forward could get boring. It was easy to simply go by the textbook method- she supposed she wanted more experimentation. Though that would probably be dangerous- especially with students that didn't seem to care what happened, or didn't know the properties of certain ingredients. That, and Professor Balan had to think of the younger students- ensure that the basics were cemented in. And teach for the exam...
She finished, stirring four times, clockwise and looked into the cauldron to see if it turned out right. It looked, well, very gross. Going by that, she figured it'd be decent at least. |

| As the students got on with the potion, James did as he said, milling around the classroom to see how the various students were getting on. He stood behind some, simply watching their movements, making mental notes about the way things were being done in correctly, and only just containing himself from sighing as each one of them progressed.
As people finished, he took the vials from them and took them to his desk, testing them, but not commenting on the results. Some worked, others didn't. It was the student's lack of capability that made this so, not James' teaching.
With the bells sounding at the end of the lesson, James picked up the final vials from the stragglers. "Class is finished. Go." James told them, checking the last few vials for the grades he needed to give and not looking at the students again. Their time with him was done, they just needed to go.
Class closed. House Points Eli De Santis = 10 points for attendance Primrose Seele = 10 points for attendance + 5 points for answer + 10 point for participation = 25 points. (James awarded an EE). Carlotta De Santis = 10 points for attendance + 10 points for participation = 20 points. (James awarded an EE). Emily MacDonald = 10 points for attendance Lux Bailey = 10 points for attendance + 5 points for answer = 15 points. Naomi Wilson = 10 points for attendance
TOTAL: Gryffindor: 35 Hufflepuff: 0 Ravenclaw:30 Slytherin: 25 |
