Flying Fun (Prim & Christopher) - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Flying Fun (Prim & Christopher)   Flying Fun (Prim & Christopher) - Page 2 EmptySat Jan 14, 2017 4:16 pm

Christopher watched the witch catch the ball, and then move off to do a couple of loops. She moved well enough, Christopher had to give her that much. As she moved, Christopher moved off towards the goal posts of the closest end. He wasn't the best keeper, truth be told. Easily average, but not great. He was better at tackling, more so than anything, and shooting was something that came naturally.

He was an attack minded player, not a defender.

"Whenever you're ready." Christopher called out to the witch, setting himself ready to tackle her. He'd go easy to begin. There was no point getting the witch's back up because he could tackle her with ease. But after a couple of easier passes, Christopher was going to play as he normally did.

The Quidditch pitch was not a place one made friends. It's where you practiced.

Prim knew, as well as any Quidditch fanatic, that the sport wasn't a fair one so she was already prepared for the harsh tackles and whatever else Chris would throw at her. She was a girl, yes, but she was used to rough play. Being in an orphanage made you get used to it. Just because she was a girl it didn't actually stop the people there from literally pouncing on her when she let her guard down around them and while now it didn't happen as much as it used to, it still happened from time to time over the summer holidays and she would come back to Hogwarts wearing bruises that were faded by the time anyone actually looked too closely at her.

Eyeing Chris by the hoops, the brunette took a deep breath before her expression grew serious, a blank look on her face didn't show anything but her seriousness. Chris was a good player, she knew that, but she was willing to prove that she could play as well as any other Quidditch player at Hogwarts at the moment. She would certainly be no Harry Potter or Katie Bell, the Alumnus of Hogwarts from twenty years ago, but she was going to play as well as she could.

Flying at full speed towards the hoops she decided to test Chris' reactions. She had only ever seen him player chaser so she had no idea how good he was at being a keeper. Faking to go right, she actually dived for the center hoop and threw the Quaffle.

As the witch began to come towards the hoops, Christopher's eyes focused on her and the ball. He wasn't sure what he was about to come up against, but he would be focused on the ball. Christopher began to drift forward - a habit of being a Chaser, to close down the angle for the shot. It wasn't unheard of for a keeper to come out, anyway, so he didn't see anything wrong with the move.

As the witch moved to the his left - her right - Christopher ghosted her movements, hands ready to come free from the broom at only a moments notice. Her expression was mostly unreadable, mostly...

But the dive back to the centre was slightly given away - eyes would always say something, and Christopher pulled his broom back towards the middle, diving for the ball and catching it just before the hoop. It was a good effort, of course it was, but Christopher hated to lose, even if he was being nice. Smiling as he turned back around, Christopher threw the ball back in a nice arch for her to catch.

"Nice try! But, you need to conceal better. One fake isn't always enough." Christopher told the younger witch, hoping she'd take on the constructive criticism with grace, and not get huffy with him.

Prim wasn't too surprised about Chris catching the ball; he had pretty much been playing Quidditch since he could probably walk. She only started it when she came to Hogwarts three years ago still, it irked the girl a bit that he caught it so easily though she just smiled at his criticism. She was glad for that; she would hate it if he gloated about her being too clumsy or something along those lines that would genuinely make her annoyed.

"Got it!" She replied as she deftly caught the ball, and flew backwards a bit to get some room between the two of them. Her eyes narrowed in thought; she wasn't as blank faced as she could be and she knew that she never would be. For a girl, it was not exactly possible to be entirely blank-faced.

Nodding her head to her own thoughts, the brunette female made her way towards the goals again though this time she followed Chris' suggestion and tried faking more than once. First, she moved her broom towards the right, her eyes focused on the centre ring before with a sharp turn she turned towards the left though her hand threw the ball towards the right ring. A little bit of a stretch for anyone but Prim was willing to do anything to try and get passed the Ravenclaw chaser, though a small smile on her lips told anyone that she probably wouldn't mind if the Quaffle wouldn't go in. It's not like Chris was actually going to get serious on her; that would be just unfair.

The witch took the criticism with good grace - for which he was grateful because Merlin knew he didn't want tears from the younger witch because he was being 'mean'. As the witch caught the Quaffle and moved off to reset herself, Christopher moved back to the centre of the hoops, quite close to give her space to manoeuvre once more.

Adjusting himself slightly on his broom, Christopher waited for the witch to start moving and held fast. Obviously now he was expecting a number of feints, but he tried to blank that information out, because it wasn't fair. However, Christopher knew, and he couldn't completely block his thoughts out from his actions.

Christopher followed the witch out towards the right, leaving himself able to cover the middle hoop, but also the one that the witch was moving towards. Her eyes were on the middle hoop, and Christopher was ready for the feint. As she streaked across to the left, Christopher followed, still watching like a hawk as she moved. Christopher zipped forward towards the left hoop as the witch raised the ball to throw, thinking he'd seen the target she'd picked.

But as she threw it far to the right, Christopher realised he'd played right in to her hands. Pulling his broom back around, Christopher hurtled after the ball, willing himself to go faster as he pressed himself down flush with the broom. But even the hurtling speeds of his broom were not enough to catch up in time, instead sending Christopher through the hoop as he caught the ball just as it passed through. The younger witch had scored, but only just.

"See, much better if you feint more often!" Christopher called out to the witch, turning back towards the hoops with the Quaffle under his arm.

Prim was no Chaser and she would never be but the feel of the Quaffle leaving her hand and then watching as it went through the hoop made her whoop though only just enough. She knew that Chris was going easy on her due to her 'newbie' status really.

Watching Chris go through the hoop at the same time as he caught it made her pout a bit but a smile was on her lips. Just the fact that she managed to pull off a successful faint, even if only just, made it that much better. She waited for him to come back from behind the hoops before she flew a little bit forward, her head tilted to the side.

"Okay, I'll keep that in mind." She replied back, not really needing to call out loudly as they weren't that far from each other. Keeping on hand on her broom, Prim watched Chris and wondered what the other male would do.

Christopher simply nodded to show he'd heard the witch, she could remember what she liked, really. He had given her a few pointers, but if she chose not to go along with them... well, that was her choice.

Pausing for a few moments, because Christopher wasn't sure what to do with himself. He wasn't really one for babysitting. And he had other things to do. However, he was also a gentleman, and didn't wish to be rude. "Here..." Christopher decided, looping the ball over to the younger witch. "Keep the Quaffle. Practice regularly, even if you're on your own. And... well, who knows, might be you make the Quidditch team some time."

Once Christopher was sure that the witch had the ball, and understood his words, he flew down to the field, dismounting just before the ground, and shouldering his broom as his legs took him from the field. Christopher was quite fickle, never one to linger too much, unless he could see a benefit in doing so.

He'd done all that benefited his ego today, and enough was enough.
