The information came from the professor in easily digestible segments for the class, and Nikolai listened as intently as he always did in this class when Professor Harrington was overseeing the class. Healing potions were not quite as fun as Nikolai had come to expect of the professor, but they weren't a complete write off when it came to what options they had to be learning. The question was, though, which potion did the boy want to make in this class to present to the professor?
Getting lost in thought around one Miss Harrington-Clement, though, was never advisable, Nikolai should have realised.
"We'll do the... that one!" Mimosa chimed without consulting him first, her finger pointing randomly to the board. Professor Harrington turned to look, trying to work out which the witch was referring to, and after confirming with the witch beside him, they had opted on the Pepperup Potion. Mimosa had bobbed happily beside him, denoting they would do the potion the best as Nikolai tried not to look too miffed with the outcome.
Whilst the Pepperup Potion would be a challenge, it hadn't been the one that caught his eye from the list.
"You get the ingredients, I'll set up the cauldron." Mimosa told him, much too sweetly as she made no move to do anything. Grabbing his book from the desk, Nikolai moved back to the stores to collect the listed ingredients, but not before giving Mimosa a sour look for good measure first. It was perhaps five minutes later that Nikolai would return to the desk with the array of ingredients, carefully depositing them on their desk. Mimosa had not moved from her seat, nor had she set the cauldron up or heated the cauldron ready for them to hit the ground running.
It took a few moments to shimmy the witch along, too, meaning Nikolai was not the happiest of young men as they worked together to prep the ingredients and then the cauldron. Much like always, Nikolai was the one left to the menial tasks of cutting the ingredients to the right sizes, or measure the ingredients accurately. Mimosa, as always, spent her time talking incessantly about anything other than potions, pausing only to tip the ingredients Nikolai provided to her in to the mixture, or to clarify what he'd said. The latter being a rarity because Mimosa never really listened to anything you said, but she was forced to when you stopped her from adding things incorrectly and corrected her progress.
Today had been much the same as Nikolai had ensured their potion would not come to any mishap, and mercifully, mercifully as the concoction turned a reddish pink that appeared to be acceptable to the Clement Ward, and the actual colour the concoction was supposed to be, Nikolai finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Perhaps, for the first time all year, the pair had actually managed to concoct a potion without any mishap. The proof, however, would be in Professor Harrington's assessment. One that was called for by Mimosa without too much question from Nikolai as he scoured the page to ensure he hadn't missed anything in their progress with the potion.
Nothing looked out of place...
But he had been working with Mimosa, so he couldn't hope for perfection.
