DADA - Lesson One (Fifth - Seventh Years) Empty
PostSubject: DADA - Lesson One (Fifth - Seventh Years)   DADA - Lesson One (Fifth - Seventh Years) EmptyTue Sep 01, 2015 7:18 pm

After a reasonably successful lesson with the younger years, Jake was looking forward to the afternoon with the older years. Whilst perhaps not quite as fun as the younger students' class, this was still going to be a practical lesson.

And thus, the room was empty of desks, as always.

On the board behind his desk, Jake had written the word Levicorpus in his messy handwriting, and taken a seat on top of his desk. He was sure almost all of the students would know the spell, but whether they could do it would be another matter entirely. And even if they could, it would be a good test if they could do it under a little bit more pressure than usual.

Checking the clock, Jake wondered what numbers he was going to have that day. Hopefully the, now, sixth years wouldn't be holding too much of a grudge against him for his injuries just before their O.W.L.s, but he was sure they would understand his absence.

Wearily stepping into the Defence classroom, Adaline really wasn't sure whether she should be here. Defence was mostly a practical subject and being pregnant meant that she could risk miscarriage if she wasn't careful. She had no idea if the Headmaster talked to the Defence professor but she didn't really care. As long as she was careful she would survive the classes.

Moving towards the center of the room, Adaline gave Jake a soft smile.

"Good afternoon Professor." She said as she crossed her arms over her chest and waited for the rest of the class to arrive. She sure hoped she wouldn't be the only one there with the Professor.

Defence was a good subject and she knew she would need it for her future job, even if it was only as defensive techniques to not get hit by anything. Sighing, she rubbed her face with her hand and wondered when everyone else would arrive.

Having only one lesson in the afternoon was a blessing for Aiden, seeing as he already had two assignments to do. Stepping into the Defence classroom after lunch, he blinked his eyes at seeing the room practically bare of it's desks. Huh, it seems they would be having a practical lesson today.

Flicking his eyes to the only other person in the room apart from the Professor, Aiden smiled softly and moved to stand next to Adaline. The girl had been great help in Potions and he knew that he was going to enjoy sharing some of the lessons with her. So far he had her in Potions and Ancient Runes, and Defence as well, but he hoped he had her for other lessons as well, at least he would have someone intelligent to talk to.

"Afternoon Adaline," He said before turning to the Professor. "Good afternoon Professor Newbury."

Kai wasn't excited to be back at Hogwarts, especially since everyone one would now know that he was a father. The Gryffindor pulled on his robes and walked to his last class of the day. Defense Against the Dark Arts. Upon entering the classroom, his shock went to the fact that Adaline had already been there. He was sure it wasn't safe for her to be in that class anymore, but what did he know?

"Afternoon Professor," he said as he turned and went stood by his girlfriend, keeping his opinions about her and the baby's safety to himself. He offered her a smile before looking to the board. He tried to recall what the spell did, however, he could not. "How are you?" he directed the question towards Adaline, more so referring to how she was feeling.

Kai was exhausted and he really didn't care to be standing there but he assumed the desks had been gone for a practical lesson. One that would hopefully, wake him up or kill him trying.

Defence Against the Dark Arts seemed a good class to Sebastian, so he'd opted to take it in his last year. Truth be told he hadn't dropped very much because making that decision was much too hard! So, coming down from the Ravenclaw Tower, Sebastian had slipped through the door just after one of the cool kids and looked around for his friend.

Aiden was stood with Adaline again though, and Sebastian really wanted to quiz his friend on that situation, but knew it would be rude with the witch around. So, instead, he moved to his friends side, giving him a small smile.

Before remembering himself and turning towards the professor. "Hey Jake." Sebastian greeted the man before them with a smile, remembering the time he'd called him 'professor' only to be corrected. Looking towards the board, Sebastian was quite happy with the topic of the day, and guessed the lesson would be practical due to the lack of desks.

Ethan had been glad to have DADA show up on the timetable in the afternoon he was given. He was not, however, looking forward to show up because he would be marking the beginning of his last year. He wasn't quite ready to do so because he had no way of finding out what he was going to do except to go into professional Quidditch. He dragged his feet into the classroom excepting his fate as it was, and nodded his greeting to Jake.

Reading the spell on the board, he chuckled to himself. This was a classic spell, But he had no idea how to do it. Cheering himself up he looked around the room to see who he could stand next too as the classroom as usual was lacking desks. Finding no one in particular, he stood next to Kai. That was his name, right? He didn't know for sure but he seemed alright. Looking down the now line of people he recognized a couple of them. He shrugged his shoulders as he waited for the lesson to start.

DADA wasn't the most interesting class for Chanelle but the knowledges from this lesson was important. This was reason why she just now did walk towards the classroom. She didn't wanna run and knock people over or pump into them. She still had time to be there on time.

Soon Chanel was near the DADA Classroom. She walked intothe classroom. She did stand near the door and looked at board what was written there. "Oh. Helli," she said when she realized she haven't greeted anyone in the room. She was sure she have heard spell before but she couldn't remembef right now what the spell did.

Her knowledge in fighting spells was quite weak this is area where she needs to stull study more. She sighed and looked around classroom with eyes. She didnt saw anyone who she really knows. Most of them she have seen here a d there only. Never really spoken much.

The room filled up quite quickly, and Jake was quite happy to see some familiar faces. Waiting until the very last minute for anyone who might be on their way still, Jake ran his fingers through his hair before deciding to begin the lesson.

"Good morning everyone, welcome back to another year at Hogwarts. I trust you all had a good summer, but now it's time to concentrate on your lessons. Most of you have exams coming up soon, so please make sure you put in your best effort." Jake told them, not wanting to be a killjoy by bringing up the year-end exams in the first lesson, but knowing that the first lesson is as important as the last in respect of the curriculum.

"So, today's lesson we will be looking at the Levicorpus spell. Can anyone tell me how this spell is done, what it's uses are, and the effects of the spell?" The professor asked, looking between the faces before him in the hope that someone would be able to answer.
