Astronomy Lesson One & Two (All Years!) Empty

ATTENTION FUTURE ASTRONOMERS:
Astronomy will take place tonight in the Astronomy tower, 9pm-midnight. Come and learn, while looking at the beautiful view of the Hogwarts grounds!

Daphne had hung up the posters in all common rooms, and bulletin boards in hopes that some students would be willing to come to her lesson. She knew it was a long shot, what with it being so late, and students being tired and ready for bed at that time, but it was the only time to get a clear view of the sky with all the stars. She had made her class so long because she wanted to have a lecture before, and then they would go out of the classroom and physically look at what they learned.

What she had prepared she hoped wouldn't be too difficult. She planned to open their minds to a different world up in the sky. It was a subject she felt most passionate about. A subject she hoped would change a student or two in their perspective on how they view the world.

Amethyst wasn't really a fan of all the subjects here in Hogwarts. After seven years in this place, she still hadn't learned to like a few subjects, for example Herbology or Flying. It was just something she couldn't get along with and she had come to grips with that.

But there were a couple of subjects she loved and was really good at. Divination for example. And Astronomy too. Those were the lessons when Amy decided it was time to show her true skill, because those two lessons were her best and strongest ones.

So when she found out that Astronomy would be taking place late at night, Amethyst got really really excited. She knew that most students were too tired to take this lesson at that time, but she was one of the few that wouldn't miss it for the world.

So when the time came, Amethyst got ready and headed up to the Astronomy Tower with a big smile. Something told her that this would be a great lesson, and she was eager for it.

Arriving, she noticed she was the first, but hopes not the only one. "Good evening, Professor!" she said as she took a seat near the front. It was amazing being out at this time.

The only reason TJ had opted to take Astronomy was because a very beautiful lady was taking the class too. Amethyst, his now girlfriend, was the only reason TJ bothered to attend a class he believed to be complete rubbish, simply so he could spend more time with her. Sappy as it was, TJ couldn't help it.

Heading up to the Astronomy at a time that would be much better spent in bed, TJ opened the door and smiled to himself upon seeing his girlfriend. "Professor." TJ acknowledged the witch at the front of the room before he slipped in to the seat beside Amethyst.

Leaning over, he placed a soft kiss on the witch's cheek. "Hey." He greeted the witch, not bothering to get his books out as he sat back in his chair, his arm resting on the back of Amethyst's. Now, he simply had to wait for midnight to get here.

As Hailey dragged herself out of bed, she wondered why she had decided to take Astronomy. She was no Astronomer, and she hated the class, but it was a class to take, so she wanted it. Hailey suddenly wondered why she wasn't sorted into Ravenclaw. This year was all about learning, and figuring out what she wanted to do with her life. She dressed comfortable, as the flyer had said nothing about wearing her uniform.

She made her way up to the tower, and what she walked in on, almost made her want to puke. She could've changed her mind and walked away at that very moment, but she decided not too. If the Professor could live through this ridiculous public display of affection, then so could she. She decided to sit on the far side of the room, away from the young love. She didn't even acknowledge the professor. And once again, she hoped that Benny didn't show up. That would ruin her night.

Astronomy. Maybe that class would bring her too success. She marched her way up to the tower, and everything was right in the world. The weather was perfect, the stars where shining brightly to where they could see them, and everything was coming into place. There was no need to panic.

Zoey had worn sweat pants and a house shirt with her hair up in a messy bun. After this class, she would go to bed as she had an early class the next morning, so why she wanted to take Astronomy, she had no idea. Zoey said, "Hello Professor Moon." When she walked in. She found it ironic that the Astronomy teacher was named Professor Moon. It seemed rather fitting.

At that moment, she was the youngest one in the room, and she was intimidated by that. Zoey took a seat in the back, and didn't say anything to the other students. She was afraid they would be mean to her. And Zoey didn't associate with mean people.

Astronomy had always been a subject that was relatively interesting to Lucy, however, she hadn't actually pursued it as a lesson until now, deciding to take a shot at it. Although, it was a rather late class, and she'd need to get up early the next morning, she decided that it was well worth having to skip breakfast if she happened to sleep in.

She donned comfortable clothes and grabbed her notebook and a pen (not a quill, quills to Lucy were really quite inefficient, pens were much nicer and easier to write with) and made her way up the agonisingly tall astronomy tower. Her legs were aching by the time she reached the top. Though, she had to admit, that night, the view was absolutely breath taking.

She strolled over to where the others had gathered for the lesson, and gave the teacher a small nod and waited for the lesson to begin.

Astronomy. Now, this would be a drag, Violet thought to herself, dragging her feet as she climbed the impossibly high tower to where the lesson would be held. She would much rather be in bed reading, or doing anything other than looking at the sky. But of course, as with all her subjects, she would strive for excellence regardless of how much she disliked it. Violet had bought a simple notebook and a single pen, not bothering with anything else, she had no need. She had read a little bit about what they could learn, and she was confident in her memory.

It seemed to take forever, but eventually, she had climbed the stairs and it felt as though her lungs were on fire, her legs exhausted. She was relieved that she had worn comfortable clothes in the end, because in all honesty she just wanted to get the class over with. She sat at the back quietly.

Daphne was relatively surprised at the turn out. She hadn't expected so many students especially at this time of night. It was quiet a turn out. She greeted each student with a smile and a courteous nod. She had to remain professional, but at the same time, be a little fun and not boring for the students who were wasting sleeping hours being up in the cool Astronomy tower. She said, "Good evening. I know a majority of you would rather be sleeping...as would I! But alas, the stars are not awake during the day, so we must learn during the night."

She took a breath her eyes wandering around the room observing her students. She continued, "During these three hours, I want you to observe a whole new world. A world that only appears threw a telescope. A world, I hope will open your eyes... Sorry I'm done being cheesy." She looked around again. She continued, "First, You need to know what stars are made out of. I'll give you a hint. It's one of the elements." She nodded, looking around the room ready to award points to the person with the correct answer.

TJ had been drifting off quite nicely before the professor started talking. His mind was elsewhere, with Amethyst. A gentle stroll around the grounds that evening, instead of being in a classroom, but alas a beggar could not be a chooser, in this situation.

But, the professor was asking a question, and it seemed that no one else was willing to answer. Which surprised him, he would have thought Amethyst would answer. Maybe she wasn't one hundred percent sure in that moment? Whatever the case, TJ cleared his throat.

"I believe they're made of hydrogen and... a little helium too?" TJ provided the answer with a small part of hopefulness in his tone. He wasn't one hundred percent sure on his answer, truth be told, but he was sure he'd read that in his astronomy book, somewhere. If he was wrong? Well, TJ didn't really care, it was only class, not the exam, after all.

Though science was one of her strongest suits, Gabrielle hated Astronomy classes. She couldn't for the life of her imagine why she would need to know where the bloody Orion's belt was, and it didn't help that their professor was ridiculously cheesy in a way that made Gabby lose interest and focus. Professor Moon was a romantic, it seemed. She found her mind wandering outside of the Astronomy Tower, thinking about theories regarding the origins of the stars. TJ's voice brought her back to Earth, and reluctantly she decided to pay attention. She couldn't let her mind wander now that they were talking Chemistry.

Gabby looked back at the professor. TJ had answered correctly, which was nothing new for a Ravenclaw. However, she wondered if the professor would wax philosophical at them again. She wouldn't be surprised if the 'elements' she was talking about was actually something like life, or soul, or some other Wordsworthy idea. Gabby sighed, her arms crossed as she waited for Professor Moon's reaction. She didn't have anything against romantic souls, really. She was just tired of how they almost never got to the point immediately, and how they barely had their head on their shoulders.
