Emily had disliked Potions with an horrid passion, since she knew the Professor did not care. Well she could tell, and wondered why on earth the headmaster would hire that. Since it seemed truly rare they would ever learn, and she also got scared of him. Well truly she had not been intimated easily and she wanted to make the most as she slowly walked to Potions looking around. Wondering if she was going to be criticize for only attending this lesson which she often felt bad about. But she wanted to know that the next year would be much different.

The Hufflepuff entered the classroom with thoughts going through her mind. What was she going to do in the lesson as she took a seat where she knew she could place her books down. Since she always carried her books, and she then sat down looking at the board with a smile as she soon looked and took a thought. Before she knew she saw the professor working on a Potion himself, what a surpirse. Leading Emily to roll her eyes as she began working on the potion she was assigned to do.

Wondering if she would have it turn out right.

Ryder had enjoyed Potions for the only idea that it was mostly brewing, but he also hated doing work. Due to the fact that when it came to having a work ethic he had no ambition. And was far from his twin Rowan who was a busy bee, and had done her best to encourage him to attend his final lessons. Who managed to attend all of her lessons and he knew damn well they were two different people. Leading him to roll his eyes as he walked to class. Only wanting to be able to go home for the summer and not have to return, which he knew he would attempt his work ethic in his fourth year.

Since he knew he would be expecting to be lectured by his uncle on the importance of doing well in his education. Leading Ryder to make his way into the classroom. Looking to see if he was going to be brewing another Potion. Ryder then looked around the classroom as he got his book out and ingredients and began to make a Potion. Looking at the board for the other ingredients as he only wanted to be on summer break and he knew after this lesson he would be done for the year.

Leading Ryder to sit and attempt to brew the required Potion.

Walking into the potions classroom, Carlotta was greeted with a lovely, awesome surprise.

A test.

She couldn't see this ending well. She was nowhere near prepared, but she still decided to give it a go. She walked into the classroom and took a seat, looking up at the instructions on the board and reading them carefully. Once to gather the ingredients that she'd need. And another to cement what she'd need to do. She promptly readied her cauldron and started the potion.

First started by adding the infusion of wormwood- but noticed that there were no quantities to follow. But no- no she wouldn't panic. She'd just watch the potion- see if any changes that happened looked to be unfavourable. Hopefully that would work… hopefully. Well, it should, she supposed. If the ingredients didn't change the potion in some way- what was the point of adding them?

After she felt as though she had added enough go the Infusion of Wormwood- she followed along with the other ingredients- the asphodel, a couple of stirs clockwise (as stated). The sloth brain, oddly, didn't gross her out as it seemed to do other students. And still, she refrained from toughing it with her bare hands. Instead, she took out her stirring rod and grabbed another one, kind of using them like chopsticks for the brain, lowering it in. She couldn't help but wonder what sort of purpose that would have. Normally in potions, ingredients came from magical plants and animals- and this, this mysterious potion had something as plain as sloth brain. It might be worth asking about when she had finished the test- she couldn't imagine Professor Balan permitting any sort of question or talking during the test.

Following the sloth brain, there needed to be juice from the sopophorous bean, Now this was tricky, it was rather difficult to cut. So she decided to try split it open and squeeze the juice in instead. She shook as much of it in as she could before she stirred again, anti-clockwise seven times.

It wasn't overly difficult following procedure- the memory part came now. The potion ended up being a shiny black colour. And she drew a blank over what it was. She bided her time- thinking- as she poured it into a vial for Professor Balan to assess.

Ingredients- they were the key. She ran over them in her head- womwood- she remembered, can be potentially poisonous if enough of it is consumed. Yet this was merely an infusion. Asphodel- something to do with death. She couldn't remember the specific culture, nor the practice, just the association. As for the sloth brain- well, sloths were slow and slept a lot. The sopophorous bean, she couldn't remember anything about it. Some sort of sleeping potion? She picked up her quill and wrote down one of the more notable potions that she remembered learning- Draught of Living Death. That was a sleeping potion. Hopefully, she was right. Though she was far from confident.

Once the students were all finished, and the cauldron's vanished for the house elves to clean, James looked up from his own work, tucking away his notes for later use. The time in which he'd spent not looking up to his students, James had made progress on the potion he was trying to make, but it was far from finished.

Taking all of the vials with him, James moved off towards Circe's office. He could mark these later, there was little point in wasting his time now.
