| If there was one thing that Prim hated about Christmas and December it was the Mistletoe that she was currently standing under in the middle of the doorway to get to the Great Hall. Frowning up at the innocent looking plant, Prim knew that it had been charmed to trap anyone that walked under it and the only way to get out would be to kiss.
Her eyes rose towards the Teacher's desk where she instantly zeroed in on Jake Newbury, she had a feeling but she wasn't positive that the DADA professor was responsible for this; she ignored the little voice in her head that said it could also be the new Charm's Professor, after all he was smirking much too smugly to be anything but innocent of doing it.
Tapping her foot against the floor, the fourth year Gryffindor wondered who would come by to get her away from her misery. She just hoped it was someone who wouldn't expect anything from the kiss. |

| Christmas was nearly here, which put Max in good spirits. Though he would have to go home for Christmas Day and Boxing Day, his parents had said the rest of the holidays were his own. Which meant he needed to speak to Elyah and Prim to see what they would be doing so he could decide what he would do himself.
Until he found either of them, though, he wouldn't know his plans at all.
First, however, Max's stomach needed to be filled, because it was grumbling much too much. Heading in from the Forest - Max had been trying to find the Acromantulas again, but had come up short when the light began to fade. Knowing better than to stay after dark, the boy had had to turn back. His hands were a little muddy after tripping over a branch or two, and he was a little sweaty from the hike. Not enough to be disgusting, but it was very obvious that he was not keeping to staying out of the Forest.
Moving along to Great Hall, Max raised an eyebrow as he saw Prim just standing like a lemon in the doorway to the Great Hall. "Hey Prim! What's up?" Max asked as he stepped across the floor, not really giving it much thought until he felt the magical enchantment fill his body. A momentary look of discomfort at the feeling took hold of the Gryffindor's features, before fleeing just as quickly as it happened. "What was that?" Max asked, eyeing Prim suspiciously because he'd been out of the school for the day.
And he most certainly did not know about the enchanted mistletoe. |

| Prim wasn't a happy girl as she stood under the mistletoe with a scowl on her features, a scowl that disappeared the moment she saw Max though seeing him sweaty and muddy made her arch a brow. From that look alone she knew where her friend had been and while she shook her head in exasperation she didn't berate him, as long as he didn't get injured or hurt she wouldn't say anything about it.
"Hey Max, I see you went off to the Forest again." She chuckled softly before blinking her eyes and just as she was about to tell Max to not come any closer, her friend stepped into the enchantment circle which had been erected around the mistletoe that the two of them were now standing under.
"What was that?"
At the question the brunette looked up and said dryly.
"We, my dear friend, are standing under an enchanted Mistletoe." |

| "Only briefly - it was getting too dark." Max explained, looking a little sheepish at the state of himself. "Was going to shower before dinner, but I think I'll eat then go up!" Max explained, more for his own purposes that for Prim's information, because she probably, definitely, didn't need to know that much.
Following Prim's eyes, Max quirked an eyebrow. "Well, that's easy to sort out!" The Gryffindor boy insisted, leaning down enough to place a quick kiss on his friend's cheek. You didn't need to think about such things, really. A kiss on the cheek was not a big deal! But as Max went to step in to the hall, he found himself stuck from moving in to the hall.
With a frown, Max looked back up to the Mistletoe. "What more does it want? I kissed you for Merlin's sake. Let us in the hall!" Max insisted, rather put out by the fact that it was not registering the kiss he'd just given Primrose. That was what Mistletoe needed, right? |

| Prim couldn't help but chuckle at her friend and his sheepish state, rolling her eyes. She had a feeling she knew what he was looking in the forest for but she was going to play ignorant. It was better that way for both of them as Prim could plead innocence if questioned about Max's whereabouts.
"Is it?" She questioned dryly as she also stared up at the mistle toe, not actually seeing Max approach her until she felt the kiss upon her cheek, her eyes slightly wider then normal as she stared at the other Gryffindor.
"..That.. didn't work." She stated the obvious as she tried to leave the circle herself, her lips pulled into a frown as she stared more at the Mistletoe before her eyes widened and her cheeks flushed as she realized; they needed to have a real kiss before they could leave.
Whoever set this up knew what they were doing.
"Don't freak out." Prim said as she quickly stepped towards Max and raising on her toes she pressed a kiss to her friend's lips, her eyes clenched shut as she prayed that this work. |

| Finding the kiss hadn't worked made Max frown - mostly at the spell which had been cast. They'd gotten the kiss they needed, Merlin what more could this mistletoe want? Shaking his head slightly in frustration, Max turned back in time to see Prim's flushed cheeks.
Well... that was strange... It had only been a kiss on the cheek...
"Don't freak out."
"Fr-" Max started to question, but was cut off as Prim's lips came in contact with his. His eyes widened for a moment, before remembering some rant from an older Gryffindor about how you were supposed to close your eyes when you kissed someone... for whatever reason. Closing his eyes as he'd heard people did, Max was left with the task of enjoying the rest of his senses.
The hammering of his heart in his chest was loud in his ears. The softness of Prim's lips in comparison to his own slightly chapped lips from the coldness of the outdoors. The way you got the soft hint of girly fragrances (Max was not very good with the smells of flowers that accompanied women's toiletries, but he knew that this smell was good), and the clean smell of his friend who had not been running around the forest.
Max's senses were being overwhelmed in that moment as he tried to take all of it in. But before he could even begin to register all of those as thoughts, Prim had moved away, leaving Max where he stood, closed eyes and... well, full of questions.
Belatedly, the boy opened his eyes, and just gaped at the witch before him. That had been his first kiss. And he was not one hundred percent sure what he was supposed to say, or do, now. |

| Prim didn't really know what she should expect when she pressed her lips to Max's, she had heard many things from the girls she shared a dorm with and none of those things actually happened. She didn't feel any sparks nor did any fireworks erupt either it was just purely a press of the lips; her soft pouty ones against Max's dry, chapped ones.
It wasn't that bad though and truthfully, if Prim was admitting to herself, she couldn't think of anyone better to give her first kiss to then Max. At least her friend wouldn't expect anything from this, which she was thankful for.
When she pulled back, her cheeks were darkly flushed and she was looking down at her feet, her hair covering one side of her face as she tried to work out what to say now.
"L-Let's check if that worked." She said as she cleared her throat. |

| As Prim - much too quickly if you asked Max - said they ought to check that it had worked, Max simply nodded, following blindly and stepping out of the bonds of the enchantment that had put them in the situation only a few moments before. The feeling of the enchantment lifting was a welcome one. But it did not relieve Max completely.
"Prim..." Max spoke, his tone quite obviously showing he was trying very hard to think something through internally. Taking her arm, ever so lightly, so that he could guide her to the side of the door, out of the way of anyone else, Max positioned himself in front of his friend, still (now obvious from the fact his eyebrows were knitted in concentration) thinking very hard, Max decided to go for it. Nodding to himself, Max looked at his friend with a small, sheepish smile.
"Now, I know that was for the mistletoe. And I know you don't have a crush on me because you said. And, I'm not saying I have a crush on you either, because I don't, I like someone else, but that's a completely different conversation. That..." Max motioned back to the mistletoe, and then between the two of them. "Was way too quick... Can... would you... you know?" Max tried to explain, but he didn't know if you could just ask someone to kiss you again so that you could just have a moment to comprehend the feelings. |

| Prim found herself unable to look at Max as she knew, straight off, she would just end up flushing darkly in embarrassment, after all, she just went ahead and kissed him without any permission what so ever, even if that kiss was purely for the fact to get them out of that circle. It was her first kiss as well.
Prim blinked her eyes down at the hand around her arm before she silently followed Max outside of the Great Hall where she promptly squeaked and blinked wide eyes at her taller friend as she listened to him, her cheeks flushing and her eyes darting towards the Mistletoe when it was mentioned before she stared at Max and tried to work out what he meant.
Though when she did, she naturally flushed and bit her lower lip before she slowly nodded her head and, grabbing a hold of Max's shirt to tug him down so that she could press their lips together, her touch feather-soft against Max's lips as her eyes fell shut and she gripped his shirt tighter in her fists.
Max was right, she didn't have a crush on him but that didn't mean she didn't like kissing him, he was a fairly good kisser, she had to silently admit. |

| Max was quite glad that he didn't receive a good slap to the face for - kind of - asking Prim to kiss him again. He had expected her not to react so nicely, in truth. Probably laughing at him for being so stupid, or something similar. But, as the girl's hands took a hold of his shirt, pulling him down to her height, Max couldn't help the small, nervous smile that touched his lips.
They were friends. Friends who were experimenting.
As her lips touched his for a second time, Max made sure his eyes were closed, not tight, but closed. His body was much more relaxed, and his lips followed Prim's movements. Putting pressure enough behind the kiss for it to feel a whole lot more real than the first time they'd done it. His hand moved to hers - balled in his shirt and covered them quite easily.
His heart was definitely hammering as he took everything in. But this time, Max definitely enjoyed it much more than the first time. And he could take everything in. The taste, the touches, the way your hearing went muffled as you concentrated on the moment, the way you did feel kinda light headed. It was crazy, really, that you could feel so many things from one action.
But, what Max liked the most, was the very big cliche that he'd worked out from being so close to Prim in these last few moments.
Pulling away - not too quickly to cause offence, but after a few moments had passed - Max let go of Prim but didn't move away. The smile on his lips was almost triumphant, but Max was humble, instead, it just showed that whilst he'd enjoyed the kiss, he was also thankful.
"You know..." Max said, the amusement growing on his features. "You smell of roses. Prim... rose... I like that!" He told her, and he was serious about that much too, not teasing. "And... thank you, for the kiss. Do you say thank you after kisses? Hmm... well, I say thank you after kisses. I'm sorry, I'll shush." Max jabbered on, his cheeks flushing, because they'd finally caught up of with the colossal embarrassment he was as human being. But even through the embarrassment, Max was smiling at the witch, because there was nothing else he could do in that moment. |
