Background

Naomi grew up around magic as a half-blood, but knows a lot about Muggle culture from her Muggle relatives on her father's side. She grew up in the small town of Manragh Upper and spent more time in trees with books than around other children, though she did have a few friends in town and enjoys the company of her cousins when they come to visit.

When Naomi was three, her mother, a Healer, died when an unstable patient reacted violently to treatment. Naomi doesn't really remember her and she's used to living in a single parent household and looking after and amusing herself for the majority of the time. Her father loves her very much, but was unable to be around much during the day due to his job. She spent most of her days before Hogwarts with her paternal grandmother. She is fluent in Irish sign language because her grandmother has been deaf since birth.

At the age of eight, Naomi went with her father to London for a day out. Unfortunately, they happened to go on the day when a student protest turned into a riot. Naomi and her father got caught in the crowd and separated. Naomi was battered in the crowd and broke her arm. It took her several hours to be reunited with her father, and large crowds have easily upset her ever since.

Family Background

Bradan O'Hare was as surprised as anyone when he received his Hogwarts letter, but happily packed up for his new life, writing home often to describe the wonders to his family. He met Liam Featherwitt when they were both sorted into Hufflepuff and they became fast friends. A year later, Liam introduced Bradan to his sister Katherine and that was all she wrote. They were often seen together, along with Katherine's friend and year mate, Anne. The four got in and out of their fair share of mischief, culminating in the boys sending every single one of their fellows students a Howler in the morning mail during their seventh year. Bradan and Katherine's friendship grew quietly into a romance and they got married soon after Katherine graduated and moved to a town a bit northwest of Bradan's hometown. They were elated at the birth of their daughter Naomi, but unfortunately, Katherine died just a few years later. Bradan still mourns her death.

Running, panting, holding her sides... She couldn't go on like this much longer... Buildings flashed by on either side... The person running in front of her faded in and out of focus, but wasn't ever clear enough to identify... They pulled on her hand and she stumbled, nearly falling...

She couldn't fall.

She couldn't trip.

Not now.

Not being chased by...

Naomi sat bolt upright in bed, gasping. Only years of her father running into her room, woken by her screams, kept her from calling out. She scooted into the corner formed by her headboard and the wall, panting, eyes still tracking the movements of shapes only she could see. The room felt too small and hot, so Naomi grabbed a sweatshirt and slid out her bedroom window, down the tree that pushed up against the side of the house, and onto the dew-wet grass.

Running lightly, Naomi reached the forest near her house in a matter of minutes. Normally, she wouldn't come out here at night, but she needed to be away. Her dream... it had taken place in a city and the forest was nothing like the close press of buildings, something she needed right now.

However, Naomi did respect the forest at night, even if the stand of trees was barely large enough to call itself a forest and nothing worse than an irritable badger usually lived there. Still, better safe than sorry. She ghosted past the burrow that her fox friend lived in, catching a glimpse of her eyes reflecting the light of the half full moon as she scaled her favorite tree.

Once she'd reached a relatively flat branch, Naomi stopped climbing, safe from as many things as she could be. Not her visions though. No, those still danced in front of her, even behind closed lids, even in front of her waking lids. Half-seen people and half-real terror still gripped her, even as she let her head thunk back to rest against the tree's trunk.

Staring up at the moon, Naomi tried to wish away her Seeing, but it didn't work like that.

She'd tried enough times to know that by now.
