"Well, a dog is definitely better than a dragon." Max mused, making a dragon impression for his daughter who laughed softly. "And, definitely better than getting a cat." He added, continuing on with the impressions for his daughter's amusement. "I'll look in to it tomorrow." Max concluded, putting the topic of conversation to bed for now.
"Good, they might just stop nagging me about letting them see Madaline, then." Max mused softly to his wife. His parents were enjoying the time they got with their granddaughter, but his mum often asked him why they hadn't seen more of the witch. It wasn't exactly purposeful, Max's attention to planning was hardly the best in the world, something most people had learned to accept over the years.
"If it is new, please go careful." Max replied, concern clear in his voice for his wife's safety in that moment. "Madaline and I wouldn't know what to do with ourselves if you got hurt." He added, not trying to bring a dampener on the evening, but making it quite clear -- or at least clear in Max's mind -- that he loved his wife very much, and cherished her immeasurably.
Savouring his mouthful of spaghetti, Max let out a soft hum of content. "That's good." He said, shortly after finishing his mouthful, pointing his fork at the food before him. "Very good." He added, taking another mouthful and savouring it. Being away from home meant he was eating on the go, never normally very good quality food, it made him miss being home, with Prim, but it also made him so very thankful for her cooking when he was home.
"You wanna try some Maddie?" Max cooed at his daughter, cutting a piece of spaghetti small enough so that she wouldn't choke and feeding it to her carefully. Their daughter made the most of it, smacking her lips in content and grumbling along happily as she ate. Max watched her with a smile and continued with his own food for a mouthful or two, before giving her a little bit more.
"So, what have I missed whilst I've been away? Any news?" Max asked, taking a sip of his wine. He'd never particularly liked the taste, but it would do for the evening.
