| Andrew nodded as he looked around his new classroom. The decor might need a bit of changing but altogether it was nice. He had taken his time getting to his classroom, dawdling in the hallways as he admired the intricate paintings of Hogwarts. He walked to the front of the classroom. There were no desks, but instead little tables, each decorated with intricate, rather delicate looking tablecloths. The chairs, instead of being the normal chairs, usually found in a classroom, were armchairs, set two to a table.
He set down his briefcase by the little table and armchair at the front of the room. There didn't seem to be a chalk board already there, but no matter. He popped his briefcase open right there on the floor and pulled out a small chalkboard, about half the size of many normal classroom chalkboards. He set up with a little stand on the table and picked up the chalk, before writing his name, Professor Maxwell and the name of the textbook the students would need, Unfogging the Future by Cassandra Vablatsky.
He then bent back down and rummaged through the bottomless briefcase, looking for what he needed. He looked up, pursed his lips and moved the chair to beside the table, setting the chalkboard up on the chair so the table was momentarily free. He then bent down and pulled a large teapot and portable burner from the briefcase, setting the burner on the table. He turned it on before filling the pot with water, glancing towards the door. Students would be arriving any second. He set the pot on the burner and turned to face the classroom.
As students started to file in he remembered something and took out his wand. He then used his magic to open the doors of the cabinet on the right wall, levitating two teacups onto each table. He would then wait patiently for everyone to find their seats, putting in a teabag and minding the tea as he waits.
OOC: Class will officially start September 9th. Please try to have jumped in before then, though if you end up not being able to meet that deadline you can come in late. If that is the case please try to catch up. Thank you, and enjoy Divination! |

| Clara had never taken a divination class before. To be honest, she was rather sceptical--especially after reading through the textbook over the summer. Magic was one thing--she'd been sceptical about that too, at first, but it had been easily proven. Divination fell more under the category of 'mysticism' in her opinion. Things like astrology, and palm reading, and tarot cards--they couldn't actually tell the future, that wouldn't make any sense.
Alignments of stars couldn't possibly predict anything, one, because the stars themselves moved in a predictable pattern that could be determined using math and science, and two, because the light from stars took millions of years to reach the earth. For such things to have any say in determining the future, that meant that everything was fixed and predetermined, and the fate of the entire universe had been laid out millions of years ago, leaving no room for free will. The philosophical implications were monstrous, and Clara was not ready to accept that just yet.
That and all the 'psychic readings' she had seen were a mixture of insignificant details, blatant lies, and Barnum statements. So she was ready to dismiss most things in her divination textbook right off the bat--if an 'inner eye' existed, she was sure she did not have one. But her curiosity got the better of her, so she decided to see for herself what this class had to offer, if only to have something to laugh at later.
She made her way to the divination classroom--it had a strange, cozy atmosphere, unlike any other classroom she had seen--and took a hesitant seat in one of the plush armchairs scattered about the room. |

| Koda had tried for most of her hogwarts career to avoid Divination class but she figured as she reached her fifth year that it may be a class that could possibly be found interesting by the young witch. She was a legilimens which meant that she could see into people's minds. Divination had a bit of a different theme to it than mind reading, but she figured that the meaning was all the same. This class would be one on both theory and practise in which they would explore the different aspects of the psyche and of predicting future events that were to come.
The one thing she hoped that they wouldnt do was read tea leaves it was a tired practise and quite honestly the witch could not stand the sight of a tea cup though she was unsure as to why.
The small board in the front of the room read both the teacher's name and the name of a book. Koda nodded, taking note of the information in her mind. |

| Elenore's summer had been enjoyable by any stretch of the imagination. Forcing a smile almost every day for six weeks was exhausting, but a necessity when the future Lord Clement turned eighteen. Jacques had enjoyed the attention, of course, power was something Jacques had always thrived in. And the eyes of the world had been on him that day.
Elenore had dealt with it as gracefully as she ever could, but she couldn't help but feel like she was growing more alone in the Palace.
Soon, she knew, soon she would be shipped off, away from the Palace, as a trophy for the highest bidder. A fate that terrified the witch, even if she never showed it. It had been made all that more unbearable when Corbin had all but disappeared from the face of the Earth. Corbin had been down to Earth, a fresh of breath air...
Elenore forced such thoughts away, though, as she slipped through the door of the Divination classroom. "Professor." The French witch greeted, moving towards the back of the room. Settling in to her seat, Elenore looked down at the teacups before her and smiled slightly to herself.
Great, she thought sarcastically, let's predict my future.
This was all she needed right now. But, the French witch didn't voice, or show such feelings in any way, instead collecting her book from her bag and waiting for the professor to start the lesson. ________________________________________________
