| Shaun went with the motion of the shove and grinned unrepentant. "Wouldn't dream of it," he laughed. And he wouldn't either. If he did he'd be in for quite an earful he was sure. That was why he'd made the joke. It would be like asking Shaun to state what the best sugary treat was, and he couldn't There were too many to choose from and it kind of depended on what mood you were in too! Max's obsession had to be sort of like that.
Nodding when the other boy stated that loopy knight's name he shoved his hands in his pockets to keep from grabbing anything off the shelf. Yet even still, his index finger was tapping his thigh, unable to stand still. At the information about the dragon thing he again nodded. "Yeah, and that's why they thought he was worthy of a portrait or something right?"
Truthfully, the Gryffindor couldn't recall all the details. "Weeeeeeeell," he drawled out the one word as he tried to state it in a way that wouldn't have Max think he had gone and pulled another Ashwinder event. He couldn't think of one and just blurted it out as he always did. It wasn't exactly like it was a secret that Shaun loved to explore the castle and often found himself in some adventure or another. "I ran into him up in one of the towers. He kind of convinced me that there was something down in the dungeons."
Naturally, Shaun had to go find out what kind of creature could be lurking in the dungeon. But then, he'd heard the sounds and the shadows, and he'd thought about getting Max. Except, he didn't and he was a bit glad that he hadn't. Rocking on his heels, he shrugged. "I sort of found a dragon down there." |

| "Yes, hurting some of the most beautiful beasts in creation tend to get you an undeserved credit." Max agreed, shaking his head at the preposterous idea. "Like St George -- he gets a whole day given to him for slaying a dragon. Who in Merlin's name believes that's worth of a national holiday?" He asked, his disgust with the whole idea more than evident in that moment.
The information of finding the knight in one of the towers was not something unremarkable or out of the ordinary. The knight in the portrait was quite a character, and Max wouldn't really put anything past the weird man who moved around the portraits of the school without much care for those in the portrait he was moving through.
Max's eyes went wide when Shaun explained what he'd found. "A dragon?" He asked, much too loudly, before realising he'd just gotten way too excited. Moving closer to his fellow Gryffindor, Max dropped the level of his voice, and asked again. "A dragon? Shaun, are you sure? Because you know something like that is much too dangerous to be in the school..." Max said in a whisper, but a frantic whisper that showed he was craving more information. |

| Shaun knew it was best not to answer Max's question about St. George with , 'The stupid scared muggles.' Since that was a person's first inclination; destroy what caused you fear and was different. Most of the time he disagreed with such thinking. The exception came when it was spiders. He didn't care that spiders had their place and did something for the circle of life and all that. They were scary, ugly, had too many legs, and their bites did nasty things. Nothing would ever change Shaun's mind about those creatures. As long as they stayed well away from him, he could let be.
Being a fellow Gryffindor along with Max, Shaun wasn't sure what the older boy would say if he told him that the knight had once belonged to their house. Or that he suspected it and that it was 'typical foolish Gryffindor behavior' that had earned the knight his portrait?
Laughing at the outburst, Shaun kept a smile on his face at his friend's reaction but nodded. "Oh, I'm sure its a dragon," was his reply. What type of dragon he'd found was another story. He couldn't blame Max's caution though since he had been the one to find Shaun with the Ashwinder. There was also the fact that Shaun was prone to trouble it seemed. Or at least finding odd things in places he shouldn't. "And, I'm sure it's fine." He stated amused.
"The only danger is maybe some singed clothes?" The stupid thing had decided to try and roast his shoe. But that might have been because he was holding it upside down by its tail at first. Then pulling a face he muttered, "I might have to invest bedding... What calms a dragon down? Because if its gold, do you think it would be able to tell the difference between real gold and fools gold?" |
