| "Okay." Winter breathed, as if trying to calm herself after running a mile. "You did great." And she could have. Winter was quite the charmer when she wantd to be. "Yes, it was a great interview." she sighed, finally letting go all of the frustration and worries and anxiety the interview had caused her. Naturally, Winter had prepared everything. From her outfit to the time she had to wake up to her breakfast to her resume and qualifications. She had made sure that she was 100% ready for this interview before she left her small flat, and even then, Winter wasn't very sure she was as sure as she thought she was. Turning around on her heels, Winter walked down the stairs at the Entrance Hall, trying to keep a good posture. She was so used to hunching over from time to time that her mother would be ashamed of her now. The worst that could have happened in the interview was that someone else had been better fitted to be Hogwarts' nurse. On the other hand, if she didn't get it, she would not have to go through the embarrassment of being called Evan D'elia again. Seriously, what were her parents thinking?!
It was embarrassing, really, how all of her siblings had a "unisex" name and a nature name. The nature name was okay, given that her mother was somewhat of a tree-hugger, but the other names? Alex, Morgan, Charlie, Evan. Alex and Morgan were better names, because any girl could have it. It was universal by now. Charlie was still okay because it was actually a boy name that belonged to a boy. But then, there was Evan. That hideous name. Goosebumps raised all over her skin at the mere thought of being called that again. It was unacceptable. If she could change her name, she would. But at the same time she wouldn't, as it would probably hurt her parents a great deal to know that their second eldest child hated her name with such passion that she would rather deny it completely than to simply go by her middle name. There was a reason she - along with all of her siblings - went by her middle name: their parents were terrible name pickers.
She'd not been out if Hogwarts for long, but it was long enough to cause a melancholic feeling to creep inside her and make her turn towards the big House Point hourglasses informing her which house currently held the lead. Sighing, she remebered her school years. The very first time she'd set foot in the Hall was more magical than anything else. It was always a relief to find you weren't a squib, and the moment she had walked on the very same floor, was the momnt she knew there was no going back. It was as if nothing about the Entrance Hall had changed, but almost like it was an entirely different school now. With her hands on her hips, Winter smiled, because it would be wonderful to work here and take care of the children when they needed taking care of, and to always know which House was winning, and to watch some of them grow up. If only she didn't have to wait to find out whether or not they liled her enough.

| With the summer months drawing in, Jake was dealing with a lot of anxious students. The amount of times he'd had to reassure one Ravenclaw boy that he wasn't going to fail his Defence Against the Dark Arts N.E.W.T.S. was becoming unimaginable, but Jake remained patient. It was his job, after all, to make sure these kids knew everything they could possibly need to know for their exam, and if confidence was the only thing holding this particular student back, Jake would make sure that he had enough to get him by.
Flying had been easier at this time of year, what with there being no exams, it wasn't surprising some kids decided not to come to the class.
It was lunch time now, and Jake had taken a baguette from the Professor's table and made his way towards the grounds. It would be nicer to sit outside and eat today, get some fresh air, and enjoy the sun. Marilyn would laugh at him for actively wanting to see the sun with his skin tone, but it was only the blistering heat that got to him. After all, Minnesota wasn't too different from England in respect of the weather. Though, England had milder winters, that was for sure.
But Jake didn't make it to the grounds, noticing a witch standing by the House Point hourglasses made the American wizard pause, watching her for a moment whilst taking a bite from his sandwich. It was quite clear the witch wasn't a student, and Jake didn't recognise her from the teaching staff either. Perhaps a new professor or member of staff ready for the new year? Jake's Auror instincts told him not to make assumptions without finding an answer, and so he moved towards the witch, smiling a little. "Hey." He greeted the witch, following her eyes to the hourglasses.
"It's quite the competition this year, don't you think?" Jake asked, Ravenclaw were currently in front of everyone, but Jake knew it could change so easily. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~

| In the middle of her thinking, Winter was taken back by the sound of a voice. Of course, she had completely forgotten there were other human beings around. Startled, she turned to face the source, and found a rather young man with brown or green eyes, holding a baguette. "Hi." She gave him a small smile. Thinking he was probably a professor, she wondered if maybe he knew how long it would take to hear back from the Headmaster regarding her interview but decided against it since it may make her look desperate. Even though she was. Just a little bit. She noticed a slight hing of an accent, but she wasn't entirely sure. He glanced to the Hourglasses, and Winter's eyes returned to the colorful points system as well. "Yes, but Slytherin has a way of finding the best tricks to gain more points." she told him, more from experience rather than actual knowledge. She herself had done so much towards the end of the year whenever her house was so close to losing. "Neither house should be underestimated, though."
Really, even Hufflepuff could bring out the swords and claws if they wanted. Turning to look back at him, Winter noticed that they were probably closer in age than she had originally thought. "I'm Winter D'elia. Hopefully next term's nurse. Hopefully." Winter smiled as she introduced herself, thinking it best to become acquainted with as many people as she could, just in case she got the job. Then, unable to continue wondering, she asked, "Sorry, but do you have an accent? It sounds like you do, but I can't quite tell." It made her feel a little uneducated, but she was only 80% sure that he had an American accent. Just 80%. The other 20% was undecided. He could have been German and Winter would have never guessed. The only accent she had heard were American, Italian, French and Sicilian. The American and French she had heard in films, but the Italian and Sicilian were part of her family, so those were much more familiar to her. |

| The small smile from the witch he'd moved to was returned with one of his own, a genuine smile. Though, as of yet he wasn't totally off guard, but his Auror training had taught him to hide it better than he could have three years ago.
The comment on Slytherin probably making a punt towards the trophy made Jake nod. "I've seen them do it many times." He admitted with a small smile. "Though normally they're way out in the lead before anyone has even started. It would be nice to see someone else win this year." He insisted, though he didn't have a personal preference.
"I'm Jake." He responded to the introduction. "Jake Newbury, Defence Against the Dark Arts and Flying Professor." He explained, seeing as the witch had told him that she was applying for the position currently vacated. "Did you just finish your interview with Professor Jameson?" He asked. "He's a good man, from what I know of him."
"Sorry, but do you have an accent? It sounds like you do, but I can't quite tell."
Jake let out a soft chuckle at the question before nodding in response. "Yes indeed, ma'am." Jake replied honestly. "American, born and bred. Minnesota specifically. I apologise for the awful accent." The American insisted with a smile, he knew it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but at least it wasn't too obnoxious in comparison to what it could have been. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~
