| Victoria let out a soft laugh when Azalea asked what you could do on the internet. It wasn't mean, just a soft knowing laugh as the younger witch pulled out her phone and typed in her own name. "You can look people up. Thankfully my name is quite common so you can find lots of different Victoria's online. I mean, eventually you can find my social media, and then my work pages past and present, but most of the information on both of them are out of date, to be honest, and none of what is on there is overly interesting." Victoria explained, trying to help Azalea get to grips with it.
"Googling Jake is much more fun, truthfully, the amount of stories where he's dating Merlin only knows which celebrity he's only met once when he was younger was amusing. Thankfully, though, the media don't bother him as much anymore. They covered the children's birth, but... yeah." Victoria gave a small shrug, letting it be known that these things were pretty normal, but they weren't the end of the world.
The reassurance that Zoe had made a bad decision wasn't one that Victoria took on board. She didn't believe that, truly, but she also didn't believe she'd made the wrong choice, either. Both Zoe and her had come to an impasse, and that was okay. But, Victoria returned a small smile, not wanting to worry Azalea with the break up, it was the past, and as much as it hurt now, it wouldn't hurt forever.
The rest of their conversation had been light and easy, Victoria drinking carefully, but growing to be a little tipsy without really realising she'd done so. She was grateful when Azalea called their conversation to an end, following the older witch gratefully up the stairs listening to the explanation of the plans that had been made. Feeling a little unsettled with the alcohol in her system, and the new place, it was quite an easy decision to be made from Azalea's options of her own room and sharing with her friend.
"Can I stay with you?" Victoria had asked without being shy around the topic. Azalea had accepted without hesitation and Victoria had hurried to grab her toothbrush and pyjamas before disappearing in to the bathroom to get changed for bed. Half an hour later, both witches were tucked up in bed, Victoria snuggled carefully against Azalea who's arm draped protectively around her with a familiarity that had been missing for quite some time now.
But a familiarity that was welcome.
"Azalea..." Victoria had whispered, unsure if the older witch was still awake in her own sleepy state of being.
"Mm?"
"Thank you," Victoria had whispered, not elaborating on the point because it was best not to be spoken anymore. There was too much to be thankful for of the older witch. She had become her confidant in the months they'd been in contact which had helped Victoria immensely. Azalea had forgiven her without a second thought for everything that had happened over a decade ago. And the older witch had opened her home to Victoria at a moment's notice as if it didn't matter at all. Thank you would not be enough for all of that, but it was a start.
This was a start of a whole new friendship that Victoria had needed for a very long time. ________________________________________________ | |
