Nerisei is the second child of the Volkov family. Born in Russia to two Muggles parents, she had never really heard about witches and wizards, besides the ones in fairytales, therefore, nothing could've prepared her for what was coming.
Her mother was a famous model, whilst her father was a great businessman. Growing up, she had anything she truly wanted, much like her older brother Ivan. They were both spoiled to the bone, but the major difference between them was that Ivan loved every moment of it, while Neri had a bad feeling. Of course, gifts were something she enjoyed receiving, but after some time, the young girl realised that their parents spoiled them so much, mostly because they were unable to find the time to actually spend time with them. Her mother being a famous model was always busy with photoshoots, and her father was usually missing for days... Business trips, they called it.
By the age of five, Nerisei had come to grips with the fact that both of her parents were not a very big part of her life, and had instead learned to survive on her own, or ask for the help of her older sibling. That particular day, the young children were playing hide and seek in the enormous library the mansion they were living in had, completely ignoring the voice of their governess, who was trying -and failing- to stop them. Nerisei had hidden under a desk, and being the tiny little thing she was, Ivan was unable to spot her, until her Governess pulled her out of her hiding spot, causing her to lose immediately.
"Why did you do that?!" Nerisei yelled at the older woman. "This is not how a young lady should behave!"
"But you made me lose!" The young girl insisted, growing more and more angry with every passing second. Her brother, Ivan, was right behind her, all happiness gone from his face as he watched their Governess looking furious. "Do not talk back to me, Nerisei!" The Governess said darkly, obviously fed up with Nerisei's improper behaviour. Without a warning, the older woman reached out to grab the young girl, but before she could do anything, Ivan's voice caused her to freeze. "Don't touch her!" The six year old boy yelled, lifting his hand as if to stop her. And truthfully, he had managed to do just that, because the woman was literally frozen to the spot, unable to move.
"What did you do to me?!" The Governess all but growled, causing the children to take a step back in fear, and effectively breaking the spell. "You will learn how to behave! Both of you!"
"Stay away!" Nerisei yelled, and just like that, half of the books stored in their library flew out of the shelves. The staff of the mansion immediately rushed in, along with the security, after the loud 'bang' that had been heard, only to find a little Ivan standing behind Nerisei, arms on her shoulders... and at least one hundred books flowing around them.
Soon after the incident, their parents were called home, and the Governess refused to stay at the Mansion any longer, because the children were 'the spawns of devil, himself', something that was beyond crazy. But how could someone explain what he saw to the Volkovs? "Sir, I do have an answer for that. I can help them." One of the maids had answered, and proceeded on explain everything about Hogwarts, a school for young wizards and witches, where the children learned how to control their magic and use it for virtuous purposes. What no one had predicted though, was that Vladimir, instead of caring about his two children, cared more about his business, and the gains this 'magic' could bring.
The Mafia began to actively get involved in the family's life, causing the couple to fight and the children to become isolated. For the first time in years, their mother decided to play the role and actually began working less and spending more time with her two offsprings. Vladimir constantly insisted that the Mafia would not be a threat to their family, and this was all to protect them and create a more stable future for everyone, but Darya wasn't buying it. Nerisei and Ivan had become inseparable, refusing to sleep in different rooms, or get separated at all costs, especially when ugly men with guns wandered the house freely. The maid who knew all about Hogwarts, Anastsiya, was the only person they truly trusted, and she made sure to answer any of their questions.
Her younger sister was a witch, she said, but Anastasiya had not inherited the gift. She had told them not to be afraid, and that everything would be alright. That no matter what, she would always be there for them, if they needed her, and the school would be a safe sanctuary for them. A place where the Mafia could never reach them.
But when a letter arrived for Ivan to attend Hogwarts, Nerisei was mortified. Her brother was the only thing, besides Anastasiya, who kept her sane, and now he had to leave her? "Why can't I go too?" Neri kept asking, but the maid kept telling her that the time had not yet come. Anastasiya -with their mother's approval- had taken them both to Diagon Alley, where Ivan would buy all of the things necessary for his studies, and for the first time in forever, Nerisei felt like... home. This is where she belonged, but she knew that she would have to return to her home, or what was left of it, anyway.
After Ivan left for Hogwarts, Nerisei felt like dying. She had never been along for so long, and the fear was growing. The young girl did not know how strong her powers truly were, and that she, in fact, had the upper hand here, therefore she was -mostly- locked into her room, waiting for her brother's letters. Every letter that came said the same thing. How beautiful Hogwarts was and how amazing everything was. Ivan had promised to visit during Christmas, and thankfully, he had kept his promise. During that time, the family tried to bond, but the relationship between their parents was broken, something that the children were well aware of.
Nerisei and Ivan spent the Holidays with the older brother showing her a couple of the things he had learned, and Nerisei jumping around excitedly, asking when she would be able to come with him. "Soon, dorogaya." Ivan insisted, giving her a kiss on the cheek. The days passed fast and Ivan had to leave again, but this time, Nerisei focused on finding out more about Hogwarts, about magic. She had managed to find a few books, and with the help of Anastasiya, was able to obtain them. Summer came faster than what Nerisei expected, and Ivan was hope before she knew it. But with Ivan came another thing...
Her Hogwarts letter.
It was finally time for her to go to Hogwarts, just like her brother had, and the little girl couldn't be happier.
But that was when their parents decided to get a divorce. Their mother won full custody of the children, and the little ones were forced to move out of the house and out of Russia. And for Nerisei, this was probably the best gift her mother had given her her entire life. Anastasiya had asked to accompany them, mostly to take care of the new house and the children, when they were home, and Darya obviously agreed, since she was never the one to do chores. They settled in Scotland over the summer, and once again, Anastasiya led the two children to Diagon Alley, but this time, it was Nerisei's turn to go crazy. She bought her first wand, various books, even new clothes and in the end, she was allowed to get her own cat! Ivan had gone for an owl, because he insisted they were more practical, but the little girl didn't care. He magical journey was just beginning and she was ready for it.
Her first year wasn't as much of a struggle as she though it would be. The train ride was beautiful, and she was constantly looking outside the window, loving the view. Ivan had made sure to inform her of pretty much everything that went down, and had promised to be there for her as much as possible. The Sorting Ceremony was beautiful, and Ivan had hoped for her to get sorted into Slytherin, much like he had, but to his dismay, she had not. That did not deter him from being there for her though, and Nerisei was more than glad for that. Going home for Christmas was easier to handle, especially when they learned that their mom had retired, and instead decided to be a good mother for once, and try to make up for all the years she had missed with them. Ivan immediately melted, forgiving her for everything, but Nerisei was not move din the slightest. It would take more than just empty words for her to make up for all the years she had been absent.
The next couple of years were quiet. The went to Hogwarts, they came back for the Holidays, and to Neri's surprise, their mom was actually trying to become a better person, always being available if they needed her, and constantly trying to spend time with them. Hell, she even wrote them letter, when they were at school. But the young witch was still unsure of her mother's intentions. Another positive, though, was that neither of the children had heard from their father, after they had moved out.
And Nerisei knew that was for the best.
During her Fourth Year though, her once loving brother started to become more broody. He wasn't mean to her, per se, but he was slowly growing colder, not just with her, but with everyone. He was turning into something he was not, reminding her of those evil Slytherins that had tried to hurt her during her second year. The same guys he had saved her from.
He was slowly turning into their father.
But every time Nerisei tried to talk to him, Ivan would reassure her that everything was okay, and that nothing had changed. He would always say that it was his studies giving him some trouble, and that Quidditch practices were rough. Nerisei, of course, did not believe him, but she couldn't do much about it.
Until that summer, right before her Fifth Year, when their owl brought a letter to her.
Only her name could be seen written on the folder, so she immediately ripped it open and began reading. Her face went pale within the first couple of seconds, causing her to miss the faint knock on her bedroom door. "Dorogaya, are you ok-Nerisei?"
Ivan's face grew with worry as he saw the pale look on her younger sister's face. The moment he noticed the letter in her hands though, he knew that the damage was done.
It was definitely from the one person he was trying to hide her from.
"Otets."
Yes, the damage was truly done.

She grew up in a very loving environment, getting the best education possible, but due to her incredible looks, she was soon noticed my various modeling agencies that tried to take her under their wings. Her mother, being in the spotlight for most of her life, made sure to find the best agency for her, and allow her career to unfold.
Vladimir is the only son of one of Russia's wealthiest businessmen. Their name was connected to the Mafia, for the most part, but Vladimir had no idea about the illegal business the family had, until it was time to take over the business his father had built. At first, Vladimir did not want to take part in such criminal activities but as time went by, he began to realise the benefits this could bring him and decided to get slightly involved.
But no one can do 'slightly', when the Mafia is involved.
His job, though, required spying and attending various events. In one of those events, he met Darya, the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. He immediately approached her and a couple of months later, they had announced their engagement. One tiny detail Vladimir decided to leave out though was that he was an active member of the Bratja, as known as, the Russian Mafia.
