One could say that Maya is kindhearted despite the early tragedy that befell her with the loss of her parents. She almost always has a smile upon her face and is often seen as bubbly and charismatic. Her kind words and even kinder gestures make her someone that many adore purely for the fact that they cannot fault within her. That isn't to say she's without faults, on the contrary, despite her cheery personality, Maya has a few triggers that, when pushed, could easily make her flip. They do say that it's always the kindest ones must look out for as they always hide a dark monster lurking within its depths.

- Tending to flowers; While she doesn't have the fabled green thumb when it comes to plants, Maya enjoys spending time in a garden, tending to flowers and all sorts of other plants that she can get her hands on.

Born to a middle-class family, Maya is the only girl and second child of Louis and Rosa Valentino. A late surprise to her parents who were already in their late forties, Maya grew loved and cared for in a house that had grown quite with the moving out of her older brother. She was a happy child, running about the garden, making things grow with her magic and just generally enjoying her childhood. When she was six, Maya's family was, unfortunately, wrought with tragedy as her parents had perished during their 30th anniversary trip to Rome and she moved to live with her older brother and his wife.
She felt as if she was intruding on their lives but Micheal had quickly banished that thought from her head by reassuring her that she wasn't a burden and that she was very much welcome in their lives. Up until her eight birthday, it was just her, her older brother and his wife and then it was her, her older brother, his wife and her littlest cousin, Will. She loved just watching him sleep and wiggle around, she loved hearing him babble in his unique way and fairly quickly she grew attached to the little tyke that soon enough if Will wasn't with his parents, it was Maya that was with him.
Upon her letter of acceptance to Hogwarts, Maya had slotted herself so easily into the family her brother had that it was hard for her to leave but each year she makes sure to head home for holidays and writes to them as often as she can.
It was during her second year at Hogwarts that Maya got a letter from her brother, telling her of the birth of her youngest cousin, Rebekah and she couldn't wait to see her. The pictures that she received tided her over until she went back home.

Rosa and Louis met when Rosa was in her fifth year of Hogwarts and Louis was just starting his seventh year. Being in different houses they had never met before until Rosa had hidden away in the train-car that Louis was resting in when some older girls had bullied her. Over the year they had grown fairly close and even when Louis graduated, they kept in contact through owl mail and eventually when Rosa turned seventeen Louis surprised her and got down on one knee and proposed to her, they've been together ever since and their marriage was beautiful with two amazing children.
