With the changes to the class system on Hogwarts & Beyond, it goes without saying that the roles of professors are also changing on the site! Whilst your characters will still be there to help mould the minds of the students, the approach may not be as hands on as it has previously been, but that does not mean professors are not still needed!
To qualify for selection as a professor, there are a few things you should keep in mind:
- Your RP character must be 25 years or older (private message an admin for a reconsideration/exception).
- Your RP character must have had either tertiary education, practical experience or a previous teaching position in the subject you wish to teach (private message an admin for a reconsideration/exception).
- Your RP character must have sufficient background knowledge of other academic subjects. Providing us with the characters NEWTs sheet would be very helpful that way.
ClassesAs classes will now be handled by the Admins centrally, there is no requirement for professors to post their classes, or create homework. That, however, doesn't mean that you can't have input with your class when it goes on! If you have a specific lesson plan that you would like to provide to the Admins to help them out, you're more than welcome to, but it is not a requirement!
The requirement that you will have for your class is to look over the threads being written in your classroom and ensure that 1) the subject matter is being followed for the lesson, and 2) any mention of your character is kept within character. You may also receive a PM, or be asked in the Chatbox for ideas on how your character might react to the situation they want to play out.
'Extra' ClassesWhat happens if a student wants help with additional work? You're more than welcome to RP a thread with a student with 1 on 1 tuition, or small groups if the character needs it! Whilst there won't be any points earned by the student in these extra classes, it does allow you to use your character in a classroom environment when needed.
Of course, this is completely up to you if you take these topics on, and is not compulsory!
PointsHouse points additions and deductions in any threads outside of classes will not bear any effect on the House Cup. We have done this so that professors and students can come together in threads which might normally have led to points being docked from the student's house but haven't been explored before.
This should allow for more creativity in your writing, as you'll be able to lose hundreds of points without worrying about throwing the House Cup out of the window, whilst exploring the Forbidden Forest, or being out of the Common Room past curfew!
