Name: Sumire Sidhir
Age: 16
Location: Arts & Music Room

Sumire was playing with her hands in her lap nervously. It was the December of her Sixth Year after coming into her Veela heritage through an unnecessarily brutal ritual and a painstakingly boring informative and registration meeting with a privy middle-aged, strange faced man. Not to mention this was the December after Felix had officially broken their engagement after being presented to her. Her heart ached at the fact that he wasn’t her soulmate because she loved him dearly. Everything was different, and in some ways in a good way.

She ran faster, could lift more things, a lot of her baby fat had disappeared, and the way she looked in the mirror was so different now. Her hair no longer needed to be hand curled nor did her make up need to be done. When she titled her head in the mirror she could hardly recognize herself, it made her nervous. She didn’t like walking through a crowd and hearing murmurs or seeing people stare at her. It made her insecure, but at the same time that was such a ridiculous idea because she was an actress. She always had eyes on her. She felt a little sad that she wouldn’t be going into Broadway for forever like she’d originally wanted to. Instead after Hogwarts she was going to be a Healer. As she thought about acting she remember why she was in the Music & Arts room. It was being frequented more and more as her years at Hogwarts progressed, she liked this.

However she always made time to make her way in here, if not to do scales on the piano or practice her singing to rehearse lines for whatever play was going on back home she was participating in.

With that in mind in her hands she held a script that made her nervous. She was used to kissing boys with characters that fit her best, but the character she was to play was not at all like her usual type. Her director had pushed her type multiple times to go outside her comfort zone, and she excelled there (the comedic role wasn’t usually one she did nor was someone too bubbly and naive but here she was). It was for the play Almost Maine and she was playing Glory from Act One, Scene: Her Heart. The scene went like this -

It starts out with a man staring confusedly at a girl on his lawn wanting to watch the Northern Lights with a strange bag in her hands; they talk and eventually reach the conclusion that it’s her old heart from a transplant and she’s there to fulfill the wishes or something from her husband that she used to love, but her new heart doesn’t love him. The play was quirky and was full of as many cutesy happy scenes as it was of sad angsty scenes. With all the changes and the heartache from Felix still plaguing her she wasn't too into the play just yet.

She desperately needed someone to act it out with her and she couldn’t think of any other male at the school she trusted more than Finley. With that in mind she sat on a bench reading over the part trying to get a feel for the character while waiting for her close friend. They’d talked and hung around since the summer ended and of all the people she felt the most at ease around him with her new heritage kicking in.

"Finley?" She called out recognizing his scent at the door, she turned around and beamed at him, "did you get the script I scent you?"

Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire) Tumblr_lt4m44PoXd1qb276ao1_500

Name: Finley Allen
Age: 16 (Almost 17)

Through the years at Hogwarts, Finley had grown in many ways. It had taken him five years to combat his stutter. Five years of feeling like a failure, like an idiot, as a target of questioning. Until he'd finally found that he could do all the things he thought he couldn't The process had started late in his third year, when Professor Ellingston had presented him with the idea of non-verbal magic. It had been a difficult feat, but Finley had pursued the idea desperately.

And it had worked.

Though Finley was probably still a year behind in the power of his magic compared to his classmates, he hadn't given up. He'd worked hard to achieve everything he had now, and he was proud of himself, if no one else was.

This wasn't to say that Finley talked perfectly, oh no, under a lot of stress he would slip back in to his stutter, and from time to time he would pause mid sentence, fighting off the stutter before continuing with his sentence. But the stuttering was at a minimum. It was controllable to a degree.

And a lot of that came down to his friends. Naomi and Sumire were probably the two people who had helped him the most, truth be told. There was Madison, of course, but his closest two friends were the two who got him through. He thanked them on every opportunity he got, because he never wanted them to believe that he was ungrateful for anything they'd done for him.

Which meant that Finley could never say no to either of them when they asked him to help them out. Today was no different and Finley had received the script for the play they would be rehearsing. Finley couldn't act, but he could read the lines to Sumire and try to do the right thing to help her perfect her lines. They had fun, and it was time together that Finley would never regret.

However, this time Finley hadn't had time to read it first, so this was the first time he was going to go through it.

Stepping through the door of the Arts class, Finley grinned seeing his good friend there. "Hey!" He greeted the witch with a warm smile, holding up his copy of the script the moment she asked. "Sorry if I'm a little bit late. Forgot where the time got to when I was studying." Finley explained, giving her a small apologetic smile.

Out of habit, Finley moved up to the witch, opening his arms for a friendly hug as he'd learnt to grow comfortable with now. For years he would never have dreamed of doing this, but he was comfortable in himself now.

"Are you ready to begin?" Finley asked after the hug, opening the script and looking back to Sumire, smile in place.

PostSubject: Re: Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire)   Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire) EmptyTue Jun 30, 2015 4:07 pm

Since finding out she was a 1/4th Veela, Sumire and her father had done intensive research on her heritage. It shouldn’t have been possible that Ageha Otoro go for the majority of her life without anyone knowing she was a Veela especially since she was 1/2 Veela. They talked with Ageha’s parents who took out the family tree. Ageha was sort of an estranged child, but her parents did love her. It was her father’s side that the Veela blood came from because her mother was a muggle. Her father was a squib, very low magic but magic nonetheless. He wasn’t a Veela, but his two older sisters were and he assumed their daughters were. One of his nieces and Sumire’s aunts was a full Veela; just like Ageha’s grandmother was was, as luck of fate had it the two’s mates were both Veelas as well. So after finding out that it was her great-grandmother that was a Veela they tracked down Ageha’s father’s sister.

Hikari Otoro-Fraulein had spent 24 years of her life, eight years after coming of age, searching the world for her mate. She was the middle child and preferred the muggle world over the magic world and worked as a stewardess. When she was 24 she met German entrepreneur of 36 years of age, Andrey Fraulein, still handsome and alluring to all females but even more so to her on a flight. Sumire was informed then of what it was going to feel like when she met her mate for the first time;

First there is this tugging on your soul, curious and gentle, and it feels like every fibre of your being is being pulled towards this one person, this one perfect and whole person that was made for you. Second comes the smell that appeals to you like no others would, and your wayward heart feels at home. Third is the first time you see them; when you see them for the first time a jubilation like no other will fill your entire being and you’ll feel the tugs of your heart and magic start to be torn from you and towards them. And if your mate is a Veela they’ll be feeling all the same things, if they’re a human then they’ll feel these things but on a smaller level. If they’re a wizard, they’ll feel their magic give curious tugs towards you. No matter the species however, once your eyes meet you’ll both be entranced by each other. From then on, you’re never truly alone."

Sumire knew it was foolish but a big part of her hoped that Felix was her mate; he was her everything before finding out about her heritage and even after. He’d been nothing but comfort to her, nothing but sweet kisses that tasted like forever and love, nothing but sweet words that set her body aflame. Once she smelt him she immediately knew they weren’t destined and her human heart was shattered as her Veela heart beat on.

Coming to Hogwarts hadn’t changed anything. Out of all the students and assorted aromas and sometimes odors even of people’s essences she hadn’t found one she found to be edible or appealing the way it was supposed to be. She was just glad Finley didn’t smell like the Quidditch Locker Room. Instead it was pleasing to the senses.

“Good!” She exclaimed as she stood too and rolled her eyes even as her lips curved into a sweet smile, “always studying with you huh, Finley?” She asked liking the idea that with everything changing Finley’s studying habits were the one thing that were destined to not change. When his arms opened for a hug she immediately went to embrace him. She adored affection from friends as of late, it was the biggest comfort too.

Yes sir!” She saluted jokingly before pausing nervously, “y’know I- I’m really glad you’re doing this for me. I can’t imagined any other guy at this school I’d feel comfortable letting read the script or watching me act. Thank you.” She finished awkwardly grinning. In truth she was scared that her acting wouldn’t be on parr with whatever he was expecting and her hands had clenched around her script, she was so terrified that her acting would fail in his eyes.

PostSubject: Re: Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire)   Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire) EmptyTue Jun 30, 2015 8:03 pm

When Finley had found out about Sumire being Veela, or part Veela, it had made sense. She was beautiful, and if he wasn't careful he could find himself captivated with her for periods of time that were much longer than necessary. Of course, it wasn't just the external beauty that Finley noticed, oh no, he was very aware that Sumire was a beautiful person on the inside too.

He knew he found her attractive, any person who didn't would be a fool, but he'd never been forward about that. Keeping any such feelings hidden as best he could, Finley had focused on their friendship, because no matter how her power might try to make him weak at the knees, Finley had the willpower to withstand it. More for Sumire than himself, because he was just Finley.

The comment on him always studying made a small blush creep in to Finley's cheeks. "I..." He tried, before giving in to the teasing and nodding. "I just want to do well." Finley explained softly, not epecting her to reply, just stating the facts.

Especially seeing as he needed to show the professors that he had achieved so much in the years they'd been at school.

Finley simply smiled back at the grin from his friend, shaking his head. "You would do the same for me!" He insisted, because he knew that much was true. "Besides, I was hoping you would help me with the Charms work later." He added, teasing but a little nervous about asking. Sumire would know that spellwork wasn't his best area, but she was good enough to be patient with him as he tried to master things non-verbally.

"Shall we begin..." He prompted, turning to the scene that she'd mentioned going over. Reading the scene aloud, Finley concentrated on the words more than the acting, because if he thought too much, he would get nervous.

Finally, his first line came.

"Hello." He reads softly, glancing up at Sumire hopefully.

PostSubject: Re: Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire)   Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire) EmptyWed Jul 15, 2015 8:36 pm

Sumire wasn't sure what to expect most days with the Veela thing. Yes there was something ethereal about her sometimes, but most days she didn't feel any different. She just naturally held her head higher, since being too confident made her cocky and therefore not many would approach her for she came off as intimidating. It wasn't the sweetest way to deal with it, she knew, but she hated having to hold the awkward smalltalk with the boys that found themselves 'drawn to her'. She always shot those guys down with a: "It's because I'm a 1/4th Veela, sorry." They looked a bit disappointed but promised to find her again.

Needless to say she went out of her way to avoid them after that.

"I'm positive you'll do well, Finley, you're so diligent in your studies, it's more than any other person I know!" She gushed earnestly, hoping the sincerity in her voice wouldn't be lost on him. Sumire smiled softly at his own smile feeling proud that Finley had been able to come out of his shell so much since meeting him in their Third Year. Three years could change so much, she thought.

"Of course I would! It goes without saying," she waved it off, "naturally I'd love to, I doubt you'll need much help though." She noted. Finley was just a known proficient student.

"Yes, let's," she took a deep breath to get into the character of Glory. She was here because she needed to let go of her deceased husband; not at first with the intention to fall in love with another. She took in a deep breath to hold onto Sumire then let out a sharp breath to let her go. She felt her body and her brain start to correlate to fall in the feelings that Glory would be experiencing. Glory is quirky; loud and jubilant. She's sweet and can be offensive without meaning to be, because she's so atune to doing her own things.

"Hello," she replied curtly but a polite smile blessing her features, looking away from East. In the character of Glory she was thinking of Wes, would he like the way the sun was here? The air? Perhaps in another life he might've.

Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire)   Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire) EmptyThu Jul 16, 2015 8:50 pm

The compliment from Sumire brought a light red blush to the Ravenclaw's cheeks. Even through the years of encouragement from Naomi, Sumire, Madison and Professor Ellingston, Finley still fell short when it came to accepting compliments gracefully. "Thanks." The Ravenclaw managed after a moment, truly meaning it even if he wasn't quite as confident as Sumire about his capabilities.

Yes, he worked hard, but it would only take a moment for his hard work to be undone, and that was terrifying.

But, instead of focusing on what could go wrong, Finley returned his attention to Sumire who had just promised to help him. "You're the best!" He told her, much more confidently than his first word had been. The Hufflepuff was the best, too, always happy to help him in his subjects, especially with the wandwork side of their exams.

As they settled in to the play - Finley reading from the script for the most part, whilst watching his friend act - Finley kept a few lines ahead to make sure he could attempt to act his part. He would never be a good actor, not that it mattered, but he did the best he could to make the right moves, and speak the right way to aid Sumire as best he could.

This play, it seemed as they went through the first couple of lines. Finley couldn't help but frown slightly as he read, this was one of the most bizarre things he'd heard. So far his lines had been short, and in between he'd sent an encouraging smile towards Sumire as she continued in character. In his mind, she was perfect at this, so convincing when she acted.

"Well, if a person really needed to, sure, but -" Finley read aloud, quickly reading through the next stage directions, moving his script out of the way as he waited for Sumire to throw her arms around him.

Acting was second nature to Sumire, and falling into character was easy. She could get into Glory’s character with ease. Well sort of, Sumire wasn’t entirely experienced all that much with playing outside of her ‘type’. She was typically cast as a young ingenue for multiple reasons according to her director. She had a young, vibrant face with a soft demeanor. When she acted she felt most comfortable playing the romantic lead’s roles. Except the majority of her characters were young women, smart women. The majority of her roles could best be summarized as when she played Belle from the Beauty & the Beast in their company’s rendition of the infamous play at the Vivian Beaumont Theater back in New York. The characters were smart, beautiful yes, but not entirely reliant on that beauty.

You’re welcome.” She replied smiling brightly as she flipped through the script to pinpoint the page of her part in Almost, Maine - Her Heart. Her director told her with a gentle hand on her shoulder that she could only do a few more plays and musicals. Her director told her that his son was also of the magical variety and he could get a definite feel for when magic was around and there was something decidedly more enticing about her. Sumire and her father sat her director down and explained her ‘situation’. Her director said that he’d have to limit her to three. She was too much of a ‘distraction’, and although it hurt her, she knew that it was for the best.

You’re too kind,” she told him with an eye roll even if her lips curled into a soft smile.

Glory found that the banter between her and this strange man worked well, and when he decided to let her, there was just a rush of emotions.

Oh I’m so glad then! Thank you!” She exclaimed as she figured the best way to show how she was feeling was to turn them physical as she wrapped her arms around him - around Finley - in a tight sort of embrace. Too quickly and intended to confuse the man before she realized she was missing something in her hands. “Oh my gosh,” she breathed before her eyes found Finley’s chest where she imagined he’d be carrying the bag, “I need that!” She said loudly as she pointed at the bag.

Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire)   Almost, Maine AU (Finley & Sumire) EmptySun Aug 02, 2015 6:49 pm

The rehearsal was going well, in Finley's mind anyway, Sumire was delivering her lines perfectly whilst he read the lines of his character back to her with as much feeling as he could put behind them. It was difficult switching to someone else for Finley but it was an okay performance on his behalf.

When Sumire's arms wrapped around him tightly, Finley was a little flustered. Despite how much he'd grown over the years, hugs were still something he preferred to initiate than have sprung upon him. Of course, this was the play, so he dealt with it.

Except this was Sumire. Who was beautiful in every manner of the word, and they were undeniably close. Her Veela power had an affect on Finley, he was not immune, but for the most part, he had control. Except when she was so close to him. Being a teenager made it worse, of course, and Finley simply couldn't help those feelings.

But before he could worry too much, Sumire had let go, and he came back to his senses in time to hear her line and looked down at his chest. Confusion set for a moment before he read the stage directions, and with a small apologetic smile, Finley continued. Holding out the imaginary bag towards Sumire, trying to ignore the slight heat in his cheeks, Finley carried on. "Oh. Here." He said softly, trying to sound apologetic in his tone but not draw attention to the fact he was actually sorry for something she couldn't possibly know about.

Could she?

But their lines continued, both of them stood quite close as Finley took in the way Sumire simply fell in to character. He couldn't help but admire her in that moment, sneaking glances whilst he read his lines. With the lines continuing, Finley found himself drawn to watching her lips between lines, until finally...

They were closer now, some kind of natural draw in the situation of the play, and Finley was no longer sure if it was just that. As the last word of his cue left Sumire's lips, Finley moved in with hardly any hesitation, without an agreement that they would actually act this part out, and pressed a very soft kiss to Sumire's lips. Not pulling away from her as he waited for a reaction. Finley had never kissed a girl before, he had no idea if this was right, but he'd done it.

And... it felt good.
